Lord Of The Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy ???

of course it will! There going to milk it for all its worth! Regular extended and new box set with even more 5 year box set 10 year and the super deluxe box set. So yep i could count on it
Does anybody have a clue as to if this trilogy will be the set of extended versions???
If your talking about this ===> Product link its NOT the extended version(see specs) .. as far as I know there is no date for the trilogy extended versions but we all know there will be .. probably after the ROTK extended version is released.

Then there will be the box set with the hobbit
(Rumor has it that Hobbit is in the works)

Then you will have the extended hobbit box set.

Then the super deluxe hobbit with never seen footage....
Unless they dont have Peter Jackson direct the Hobbit, it will be awhile. He is currently working on King Kong.
Anyone remember when Peter Jackson had original scripts?

There will be, eventually, at least two versions of the trilogy...The theatrical versions, and the extended versions. There won't be an extended box set for some time, as the extended RotK hasn't been released by itself yet.

/redundant? too lazy to check...

I wonder if the list price is really the MSRP. If it is, then that is a freaking rip off for a non extended version of the trilogy...

Circuit City has it for $99.99 preorder.

That's kind of harsh-I don't know if that was meant as an insult, but Lord of tjthe Rings was a noble undertaking, in my opinion, and not a sellout - it was something that he wanted to do. Same with King Kong...I don't know how true this is, but apparently he's wanted to direct a remake of King Kong for a while...But yeah, I wouldn't argue if he went back to writing original stuff :D I want Bad Taste 2: Derek In Space.

There is a problem with the rights to The Hobbit. I wouldn't count on it being filmed any time soon, although it would make a good film.
Anyone remember when most movie-goers had no idea who Peter Jackson was due to his original scripts?

Please, any 1 of the LOTR movies is better than all the garbage he filmed before!

Here comes the fallout...the same thing happened with the Matrix movies. Suddenly it becomes "cool" to not like certain movies...

Don't hold your breath on the Hobbit being made. Tolkien originally sold the rights to his trilogy before he passed away but he never sold the rights to the Hobbit. His children have repeatedly stated that they do not want to give the film rights for it because they feel that their father's work can't properly be adapted to the big screen. Hopefully Jackson's trilogy changed their minds. We can only hope.

Well, what the hell were they thinking when the animated Lord of the Rings and The Return of the King were released direct to tv? The first Hobbit was respectable, but the other two were very, very bad. Aragorn looked like a freakin' pansy running around in a speedo.

 If they really take nintendo's advice on this one, they'll sell seperately 50$ each "special edition" and 200$ for the whole set.

Let's not forget the "properly adapted" PS2 game of "The Hobbit"

Yep, Tolkien's son is the hold up on Jackson making a movie out of The Hobbit. I believe he hasn't publicly said they are good adaptations of the books (I don't think he's said they are bad either though) I think I read somewhere that New Line made an offer for the rights, but were refused.

You kind of can understand why he might be bitter. I think his dad sold the rights to the trilogy for a very small fraction of what they are worth today.

OK, this this topic is out of date now but it is really the only one talking about rotk:ee. How cool is the mouth of sauron scene. I was like, this is awesome.

I got the ee box set for my wife.
Most of the added scenes are pretty cool, but I can see why they were deleted. The movie just seems to go back and forth between the different characters too much, especially in the Two Towers.
