one of the top rated places I been wanting to go to for a while...

please if u r interested then discuss date and times, saturday preferably.

I hear u gotta wait like an hour before you get it... prior to the meeting date I would prefer to get a definitive head count so we can request a table.

^_^v

I am interested.

I think the only weekend I can't do this is on the 23rd since I will be on a NorCal roadtrip.

I'm located in the SGV, Arcadia to be exact so if anybody wants to carpool lets do it!

ahahaha... since nobody replied I actually ended up going today lol

but... I'm still down if others are interested. It was indeed good, not as good as Santouka, but still rather delicious.

I'm not a fan of Shin Sen Gumi at all.

their soup does nothing for me and their pork is freakin cardboard.

also 23rd is no good... that's Freestyle Session (u guys should all go!!). If we do this do it next month

Little Tokyo, eh? I'll try and make the trek from OC if it happens again. Awesome little import game shops in that area.

There's a nice private-room karaoke place at Sawtelle & Olympic, too. Good selection of not-so-mainstream songs, so it's not just Top 40 hits like most places have.

I need something more than just soup to get me there. I'll probably take the bus to save some $, so I'll have a day pass. Can anyone recommend stuff to do around there to make a day trip out of it?

it's not soup... it's ramen. Ramen transcends soup yo.

check out the menu, they got other stuff there as well.

and the place is in Little Tokyo, they got anime shop, super markets, bookstores, more places to eat.

Mmm, ramen. But all my weekends in August are filled.

And yeah, Little Tokyo should have plenty to do for the gamer/okatu type --random little game and book stores everywhere-- but it's been some years since I hung out there so I don't know how much has changed.

Mr Ramen...

"Fried chicken seems to make its way into some weird combinations. Roscoe's got famous for pairing it with waffles and I'm convinced that Mr. Ramen will soon be recognized for their fried chicken ramen."

straight LOL! I gotta eat there now...

This should be enough to get people to come - LA's "Toy District" is about 6 blocks from Little Tokyo, and Chinatown's right around the corner. If you can't find something cool there, look harder.

Why don't you guys planned the ramen day on saturday. its Nisei Week Little Tokyo Anime Festival this weekend. I will be down there for that.

whaaat??? I heard Chantilly's in Torrance is better than Beard Papa...

but if any1's still down to go then jus throw out dates u think is good... otherwise I dont kno if this is gonna happen.

ramen + cream puffs, I've experienced this combination many times and indeed it's close to heaven

Is this pre-cooked or shabu shabu style? I wouldn't mind some Korean BBQ, like Shik Do Rak on West Olympic. Anyone here old enough to drink Soju?

Yes! That's the name, Beard Papa. I couldn't quite remember the name at the time of my last post. But yeah that place was great, their cream puffs were awesome. It's nice that their expanding their franchise closer SoCal. I also have yet to try out Chantilly's, and if that's better then Beard Papa's than that's good news for me ;)

it's ramen... everything is cooked and all put in the bowl for you, not shabu shabu style at all. Sake too, no soju there...

u wanna take me too Shik Do Rak?? is it the place by Cyberzone?? the name sounds familiar... u can teach me how to drink soju, I hear it's gross. I'd still be down tho

Speaking of ramen. Here's another place that's not bad either.

I hear there's one in Monterey Park but the one in Hacienda Heights is better. You'll also have to wait anywhere from 30 mins to 1+hr (depending what time you go).

Yeah, whenever the next meetup is I'll get your back. It doesn't necesarrily have to be Shik Do Rak. As for Soju, if you can drink regular vodka straight, you can drink Soju. So yeah, downing soju is like drinking vodka straight, at least in my opinion.
