Lost Season 4 Discussion - Because You Left

I think this season has been real inconsistent compared to the rest. This episode was good, compared to the last episode, which I thought was a bummer. The only really memorable episode so far this season was the one with Desmond as the focus.

I thought the episode with the Korean couple as the main focus was one of the best this season.
I think that the Desmond-centric episode was the best so far.
I agree with this...Desmond's crazy time-travel ep was the best this season, IMO.

I think the Sun/Jin episode was redeemed by the ending clincher.

I think Juliet's episode was the weakest this year. I simply cannot bring myself to care about that character...every week I pray for Kate to punch Juliet in the face. ;)

I enjoyed the Ben and Desmond ones the most as well. The Michael one was also quite good. I also hate Juliet and hopes she dies.
I think that the Desmond-centric episode was the best so far... My least favorite episode was the one with Sun and Jin.
QFT. Every Desmond episode blows my mind. He's quite possibly my favorite television character of all time.

He NEEDS to live happily ever after with Penny.

cmon, you know he won't!

It sucks that the 2 episodes they decided to cut were Faraday's & Miles'. Why not Jack's & Juliet's?!?

Wait, so next season & S6, is it going to have flash-forwards for ppl who stay on the island (Sawyer, Locke, etc.)?

Yea, i can imagine the ending of Season 6. After Jack gets killed Kate wakes up and hears the shower running, she walks into the bathroom and pulls the shower curtain to find that Jack is there and everything is was a dream.

OK, this is what I think is to come next week

A. Ben called the Others to ambush Keamy & his men
B. Locke is going to cause the island to "move"
C. Lapidus will take the 6 off the island, but they cant go back due to low fuel. Jin stays involuntarily. He was supposed to go in the 2nd group on the chopper but is left.
D. The Kahana blows up (I think the thing on Keamy's arm is an explosive.
E. Ben might teleport to the Sahara desert. This might be wrong, but he had the stick & the guy that plays Halowax (whose jacket he was wearing) is going to be seen. OR Ben teleports, & end up in the orientation video that was shown as the Season 4 teaser. Remember when towards the end of it, something starts comming thru the time break?

What do u guys think?
cmon, you know he won't!
I hope you're wrong.

Good episode tonight, but mostly the setup for the finale.

I keep worrying something will happen to Desmond, but since Ben's goal is to kill Penny, I can't see how that could happen (at least I hope it won't). My guess is that one of the stories of the last year is following who gets to Penny first.

Can't WAIT to see what's inside The Orchid. If it's anything close to last year's finale, it'll be great. These next 2 weeks are going to crawl by.

Good God, I fucking love this show.

I suppose Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will have to do as a 'stand-in' for next Thursday.

Need to re-watch before I can really ramble.

EDIT: Actually, one morsel to ruminate on:
I have to believe that Jin actually dies, because notice how Sun tells her perpetually indignant father that there were two men responsible for her husband's 'death'...and he's one of them. If it were just him, then we could safely conjecture that he's still alive on the island, but I don't think she would insinuate that two people are responsible for him getting on Flight 815. My guess is that Keamy remotely detonates the boat, right after the Oceanic Six get off it. There may be some sort of time discrepancy, but there it is. What a fucking militant meathead asshole he is.

I hate how the creators wanted a 3 hour finale, ABC says no, and now we have to wait two weeks for the last 2/3. ABC can eat shit.

Just be thankful they aren't mandating that the show continue indefinitely. Only a matter of time then before the 'new survivors' would become Robert Patrick and Lucy Lawless. In an 'alternate timeline' island where the the original cast all died and the same things start happening with the passengers that died the first time through. Tell me ABC wouldn't love to do that shit if they could get away with it.

My greatest fear for this show now is not a laundry list of mysteries going unexplained, but that all parties (except most of the actors) are going to 'reconsider' the six-season plan and announce that the show will instead go on for at least two more seasons. This is not an especially rational fear, but I'm sure some coked-up exec is still thinking about a power play that extends the show. After all, the creators seemed more than a little relieved when they learned that the show would end a year ago, thus strongly suggesting that it was a 'pulling teeth' sort of negotiation.

I think we could be looking at an unprecedented situation where the vast majority of the biggest fans of a show actually want the end to come sooner than later. Imagine the "SIX IS ENOUGH!!" protests by the "LOST SIX" groups if things changed. Imagine how much more meandering we'd have endured this season if they didn't see the finish line in sight.

another set up for the finale episode, but at least stuff actually happened this week. they sure did a good job of making keamy a fucking ass hole.

and i sure dont hope that jin dies, because that would mean desmond dies as well. my guess is, they boat blows up, but they take the current back to the island, like in season 1. and desmond, jin & michael end up back on the island.

Well, two of the 6, Sun and Aaron, are on the boat already.

I noticed that Kate claimed at the press conference that Aaron was only 5 weeks old. Aaron was born on November 1st, 2004. They got off the island on January 8th, 2005 (day 108). That'd make him a little over 2 months old.

Pretty good episode tonight. I had a huge grin on my face when Sun told her dad what she had done with her money. You have to figure Sun got 2x the money since Jin is "dead".

I'll betcha that little gadget hooked up to Keamy is a detonator for the C4 that's somehow linked to his pulse or something like that. They'll get the drop on him somehow but then...oh shit, if they kill him all their friends die!

Episodes 4.13 and 4.14: There's No Place Like Home, Parts 2 & 3 (Season finale, part 2)
Airdate: May 29, 2008 from 9 to 11 p.m.

05/15 - Not only is the kiss spectacular, but according to a very solid source, it's the kind of liplock that "stops f---ing time" and "makes the entire world vanish in the moment." There's a fair amount of blood shed in next week's two-hour capper. And there's at least one significant death. Source: Ask Ausiello @ TV Guide

05/15 - Summary of the preview shown during the Upfronts: Two pilots are at the helm of a transport plane, maybe a C-17. One chastises the other for clinging to his lucky charm; the one holding the rabbit's foot says he has to be extra vigilant considering the cargo they are carrying. These two are piloting a Coast Guard transport that's bringing the Oceanic Six back to the mainland. Michelle Forbes is an Oceanic Airlines rep, strapped into the jump seat immediately behind the pilots. The pilots tell Forbes they're approaching the Tarmac. She goes back into the cargo hold where Jack, Hurley, Sayid, Sun and Kate are strapped in to passenger seats. Kate is holding Aaron. Michelle Forbes tells the Six the press wants to talk to them, but she can get them out of it. Jack speaks for the group and says that's fine, they're prepared to answer any questions. Michelle Forbes leaves, tottering back to the cockpit in her stilettos. Jack says they all know the story, but if they get any questions they can't answer, the press will just assume they're in shock. Sun: "Jack, we are in shock." Sun and Sayid do look like they're in shock, whereas Kate just looks generally devastated. Aaron is wearing an insanely adorable little overall jumper. The plane lands, and the gangplank is lowered. The Six exit the back of the transport. Mama Reyes, Papa and Mama Paik and Mama Shephard are all waiting. All three clans are overjoyed to see each other. Sayid and Kate have no families greeting them. Hugo jumps back after hugging his mom hello and introduces Sayid, who gets the full family hug treatment. Kate, who looks especially freckly for some reason, holds on tight to baby Aaron and looks around, all alone. I know that Sam Austen is probably supposed to be in Iraq or something (the background soldiers in "Something Nice Back Home"), and I know her mom is perpetually dying, but she's all alone, and it shows. 05/15 - The face-off between the survivors and the freighter people continues, and the Oceanic Six find themselves closer to rescue. Guest starring are Jeremy Davies as Daniel Faraday, Ken Leung as Miles Straume, Rebecca Mader as Charlotte Lewis, Jeff Fahey as Frank Lapidus, L. Scott Caldwell as Rose, Malcolm David Kelley as Walt, Nestor Carbonell as Richard Alpert, John Terry as Christian Shephard, Sonya Walger as Penelope "Penny" Widmore, Alan Dale as Charles Widmore, Kevin Durand as Keamy, Francois Chau as Dr. Marvin Candle, Anthony Azizi as Omar, Alex Petrovitch as Henrik and Starletta DuPois as Michael's mom. • 05/05 - Lost headed way out to Wai'anae, the arid, rural west coast of O'ahu. They established a base camp at Wai'anae Regional Park, and enlisted a handful of boats to carry equipment and crew across Pokai Bay... Action is called, and the stars get wet. Jorge Garcia, Yunjun Kim, Matthew Fox, Evangeline Lilly, Naveen Andrews and Henry Ian Cusick swim toward a large, octagonal raft through some debris. In several takes, Hurley - clutching a doll that's most likely playing Aaron - helps pull Kate, Sun, and Sayid aboard. But Jack and Desmond take a little longer to reach them. And Desmond is holding someone who's not moving. Source: The Transmission

  • 05/05 - Scaling down somewhat from the huge shoot at Kalaeloa on Wednesday, the Lost crew headed out to upscale East Honolulu today to film at a mansion in Kahala. Specifically, they returned to Hurley's mansion as last seen in "Tricia Tanaka is Dead," a $5.5 million property that's actually on the market. There wasn't much to see from the street, but when a group of extras made a run for craft services they were impossible to miss. Party hats, loud shirts, a couple of cheesy plastic lei. it certainly looked as if Hurley has something to celebrate. Word is it was a surprise party for Hurley's birthday, and in attendance were Sayid and Nadia, and Kate and Aaron. Source: The Transmission
  • 04/24 - [...] It was the return of the Oceanic Si . The moment when Jack, Sayid, Hurley, Sun, Kate, and Aaron arrive back in the real world, a moment that the flash forwards seem to have been building backwards toward since the end of Season 3. Their rescue is as huge a media circus as you'd imagine, with a throng of reporters and photographers on hand as they step off the plane. A military transport plane. That brought them back to the United States. Via Honolulu. Actually, the dramatic disembarkation was to be filmed later. But today's filming focused on an elaborate Oceanic Airlines-coordinated press conference. Or, as my two sources put it, "a big press con." The world's media was there for answers, as well as several familiar faces: Veronica Hamel (Margo Shephard), Cheech Marin (David Reyes) and Lillian Hurst (Carmen Reyes). But as Lost fans know, the answers they got merely raised more questions. Ms. Austen, how old is Aaron? Ms. Kwon, what happened to your husband? Mr. Reyes, what of your fortune, and this hefty airline settlement? The answers they give, I dare not tell. But suffice it to say, the press is as skeptical of the official story as Lost toughest fans. (And Hurley's hackles are raised by a query that's been raised by viewers and comedians alike since Season 1.) Sayid toes the line, but isn't happy about it. And yes, the Oceanic Six make surprising mention of some long, lost friends. Three of them, at least, whose deaths occurred in each of the first three seasons. Source: The Transmission
  • 04/23 - The May [29] finale will complicate the Jack-Kate-Sawyer love triangle by featuring "a spectacular kiss" and elaborate on Jack's flash-forward ambition to journey back to the Island. "This year's finale will sum up exactly how difficult it may be to accomplish that," says Lindelof, who adds this cryptic response to speculation that flash-forwards will vanish once Island present meets off-Island future: "There could easily be a time when the word flash becomes irrelevant." Source: Entertainment Weekly
  • 04/23 - My frenemy at E! Online is reporting that Greg Grunberg will reprise his role as Oceanic pilot Seth Norris in the two-hour season finale. Coincidentally, that same episode will feature the introduction of another pilot, a "young Top Gun type" who, per the casting sheet, doesn't like it when his copilot brings Lucky Charms onboard. Or was it a lucky charm? Eh, it was one of those two. Source: Ask Ausiello @ TV Guide
  • 04/23 - Greg Grunberg, aka Oceanic pilot Seth Norris, was in Hawaii last week filming scenes for the show. According to my sources, the Orchid Station, which we should finally see soon, may be a major set going into next season as well. Source: Kristin on E!Online

  • 04/03 - In the new issue of Lost magazine, DL teased, "Romance is always blooming on and off the island. And I hereby promise you one of the most spectacular kisses you've ever seen on the show in this year's finale." Naturally, I pressed DL's partner in crime, Carlton Cuse, for further details on the earth-shattering smooch, to which he replied, "I can disclose no more details other than to say it's one of my favorite moments of the whole series so far. And contrary to some speculation, it is a male/female kiss." Source: Ask Ausiello @ TV Guide

I loved the last episode.. I got chills up my spine in the last 2 minutes when it showed the oceanic six and what they were doing and what they were facing for the next episode.. the music during that last part of the episode was great and I can't wait for the season finale..

I felt the exact same way. Great Episode.

As an episode I thought the last one was kind of meh. It didn't really explain too much (other then the fact that now we know when Jack realizes his relation to Claire). As a setup to the next episode it was superb. They really should've kept it as 3 hours of awesome.
Looks like the finale got delayed til July...

Linkage
People still rickroll?

Anyways, does anyone know how long ABC.com takes to put the episodes online? I'll be camping thursday so I'll miss the season finale.

Anyone else pumped up? I'm watching two weeks ago's episode as well, at 8 PM EST. Supposedly there are extended scenes (longer press conference) plus it will refresh my memory.
still 4 damn hours over here.
Click if you want to know what the extended footage was

Jack states in the conference that the other 3 survivors that died were Boone, Libby, & Charlie. Sayid is asked if he will return to Iraq, to which he says no.

Locke is definitely the guy in the coffin.
why do you say that? Jeremy whatever isn't his name...
Had to be someone on the island, couldn't use a name that was on the flight manifest, and they're both names of philosophers.

Edit:
and from the looks of it Ben and Locke are up to some shit, we know Ben mysteriously got off of the island so what happened to Locke if they were together?

^ He can't die. Remember? Christian probably did some miracle magic and saved all of them...except the various anonymous crash survivors.

As far as Jeremy being Walt, that makes the most sense. Walt would have to have an alternate identity so nobody could match him up to the plane manifest.

Ya, but Christian/Jacob said "you can go now". Mike is dead, along with Walt. My theory...

He couldn't die because he was supposed to do the battery trick. Christian said "Now you can go" meaning he could die now

Could be Desmond in the coffin. With all the lying, he could have told the other survivors to refer to him by a different name so Widmore couldn't track him down. Maybe he dies trying to stop Ben from killing Penny?

Is that why it was so small?

Edit: When I saw that boat comming, I thought "Oh god, this looks like something I saw 3 years ago... time travel back 3 months perhaps?" ;)
