Season 4 Finale Preview

Airdate: May 29, 2008 from 9 to 11 p.m.

05/15 - Not only is the kiss spectacular, but according to a very solid source, it's the kind of liplock that "stops f---ing time" and "makes the entire world vanish in the moment." There's a fair amount of blood shed in next week's two-hour capper. And there's at least one significant death. Source: Ask Ausiello @ TV Guide

05/15 - Summary of the preview shown during the Upfronts: Two pilots are at the helm of a transport plane, maybe a C-17. One chastises the other for clinging to his lucky charm; the one holding the rabbit's foot says he has to be extra vigilant considering the cargo they are carrying. These two are piloting a Coast Guard transport that's bringing the Oceanic Six back to the mainland. Michelle Forbes is an Oceanic Airlines rep, strapped into the jump seat immediately behind the pilots. The pilots tell Forbes they're approaching the Tarmac. She goes back into the cargo hold where Jack, Hurley, Sayid, Sun and Kate are strapped in to passenger seats. Kate is holding Aaron. Michelle Forbes tells the Six the press wants to talk to them, but she can get them out of it. Jack speaks for the group and says that's fine, they're prepared to answer any questions. Michelle Forbes leaves, tottering back to the cockpit in her stilettos. Jack says they all know the story, but if they get any questions they can't answer, the press will just assume they're in shock. Sun: "Jack, we are in shock." Sun and Sayid do look like they're in shock, whereas Kate just looks generally devastated. Aaron is wearing an insanely adorable little overall jumper. The plane lands, and the gangplank is lowered. The Six exit the back of the transport. Mama Reyes, Papa and Mama Paik and Mama Shephard are all waiting. All three clans are overjoyed to see each other. Sayid and Kate have no families greeting them. Hugo jumps back after hugging his mom hello and introduces Sayid, who gets the full family hug treatment. Kate, who looks especially freckly for some reason, holds on tight to baby Aaron and looks around, all alone. I know that Sam Austen is probably supposed to be in Iraq or something (the background soldiers in "Something Nice Back Home"), and I know her mom is perpetually dying, but she's all alone, and it shows. 05/15 - The face-off between the survivors and the freighter people continues, and the Oceanic Six find themselves closer to rescue. Guest starring are Jeremy Davies as Daniel Faraday, Ken Leung as Miles Straume, Rebecca Mader as Charlotte Lewis, Jeff Fahey as Frank Lapidus, L. Scott Caldwell as Rose, Malcolm David Kelley as Walt, Nestor Carbonell as Richard Alpert, John Terry as Christian Shephard, Sonya Walger as Penelope "Penny" Widmore, Alan Dale as Charles Widmore, Kevin Durand as Keamy, Francois Chau as Dr. Marvin Candle, Anthony Azizi as Omar, Alex Petrovitch as Henrik and Starletta DuPois as Michael's mom. • 05/05 - Lost headed way out to Wai'anae, the arid, rural west coast of O'ahu. They established a base camp at Wai'anae Regional Park, and enlisted a handful of boats to carry equipment and crew across Pokai Bay... Action is called, and the stars get wet. Jorge Garcia, Yunjun Kim, Matthew Fox, Evangeline Lilly, Naveen Andrews and Henry Ian Cusick swim toward a large, octagonal raft through some debris. In several takes, Hurley - clutching a doll that's most likely playing Aaron - helps pull Kate, Sun, and Sayid aboard. But Jack and Desmond take a little longer to reach them. And Desmond is holding someone who's not moving. Source: The Transmission
  • 05/05 - I'm hearing there's a supersecret Sawyer scene in the finale. Source: Kristin on E!Online
  • 05/05 - Scaling down somewhat from the huge shoot at Kalaeloa on Wednesday, the Lost crew headed out to upscale East Honolulu today to film at a mansion in Kahala. Specifically, they returned to Hurley's mansion as last seen in "Tricia Tanaka is Dead," a $5.5 million property that's actually on the market. There wasn't much to see from the street, but when a group of extras made a run for craft services they were impossible to miss. Party hats, loud shirts, a couple of cheesy plastic lei. it certainly looked as if Hurley has something to celebrate. Word is it was a surprise party for Hurley's birthday, and in attendance were Sayid and Nadia, and Kate and Aaron. Source: The Transmission
  • 04/24 - [...] It was the return of the Oceanic Si . The moment when Jack, Sayid, Hurley, Sun, Kate, and Aaron arrive back in the real world, a moment that the flash forwards seem to have been building backwards toward since the end of Season 3. Their rescue is as huge a media circus as you'd imagine, with a throng of reporters and photographers on hand as they step off the plane. A military transport plane. That brought them back to the United States. Via Honolulu. Actually, the dramatic disembarkation was to be filmed later. But today's filming focused on an elaborate Oceanic Airlines-coordinated press conference. Or, as my two sources put it, "a big press con." The world's media was there for answers, as well as several familiar faces: Veronica Hamel (Margo Shephard), Cheech Marin (David Reyes) and Lillian Hurst (Carmen Reyes). But as Lost fans know, the answers they got merely raised more questions. Ms. Austen, how old is Aaron? Ms. Kwon, what happened to your husband? Mr. Reyes, what of your fortune, and this hefty airline settlement? The answers they give, I dare not tell. But suffice it to say, the press is as skeptical of the official story as Lost toughest fans. (And Hurley's hackles are raised by a query that's been raised by viewers and comedians alike since Season 1.) Sayid toes the line, but isn't happy about it. And yes, the Oceanic Six make surprising mention of some long, lost friends. Three of them, at least, whose deaths occurred in each of the first three seasons. Source: The Transmission
  • 04/23 - The May [29] finale will complicate the Jack-Kate-Sawyer love triangle by featuring "a spectacular kiss" and elaborate on Jack's flash-forward ambition to journey back to the Island. "This year's finale will sum up exactly how difficult it may be to accomplish that," says Lindelof, who adds this cryptic response to speculation that flash-forwards will vanish once Island present meets off-Island future: "There could easily be a time when the word flash becomes irrelevant." Source: Entertainment Weekly
  • 04/23 - My frenemy at E! Online is reporting that Greg Grunberg will reprise his role as Oceanic pilot Seth Norris in the two-hour season finale. Coincidentally, that same episode will feature the introduction of another pilot, a "young Top Gun type" who, per the casting sheet, doesn't like it when his copilot brings Lucky Charms onboard. Or was it a lucky charm? Eh, it was one of those two. Source: Ask Ausiello @ TV Guide
  • 04/23 - Greg Grunberg, aka Oceanic pilot Seth Norris, was in Hawaii last week filming scenes for the show. According to my sources, the Orchid Station, which we should finally see soon, may be a major set going into next season as well. Source: Kristin on E!Online
  • 04/09 - [The spectacular kiss will occur off the island between in a boy and a girl.] Source: Kristin on E!Online
  • 04/03 - In the new issue of Lost magazine, DL teased, "Romance is always blooming on and off the island. And I hereby promise you one of the most spectacular kisses you've ever seen on the show in this year's finale." Naturally, I pressed DL's partner in crime, Carlton Cuse, for further details on the earth-shattering smooch, to which he replied, "I can disclose no more details other than to say it's one of my favorite moments of the whole series so far. And contrary to some speculation, it is a male/female kiss." Source: Ask Ausiello @ TV Guide

i just finished season 3. a seriously WTF moment to close the season. i thought i still had another episode to go.

I think it's going to be awesome, imo. I can't wait to see how (possible spoilers ahead) thing go when the group splits into team Jack & team Locke. Being that they killed off my fav character in S3's finale, I really hope it wasn't in vain and some of them (mostly claire & her baby) do get rescued. I also think it's gonna be interesting how Michael & Walt's return plays out.

I'm extremely excited for the "season" even though it'll only be 8 episodes. Here's hoping production gets rolling ASAP when the writer's strike ends.

I think the last episode of season 3 was one of the best crafted, most well-written things I've seen on TV in years.

I'm looking forward to it but REALLY hoping the stupid strike is over before the end of the season. The creators/writers of the show said that they didn't even want ABC to air these 8 episodes because the last one doesn't feel like a season-finale.

Oh snap I can't wait!!! Too bad the damn strike is going to throw off the show...how many episodes do they have for Season 4?

And do both the Blu Ray and regular DVD Season 3 have the special extended/Season 4 sneak preview stuff I heard about?

Hopefully ABC leaves the Season 3 eps on the site. I wanna re-watch the last few or at least the finale for a refresher.
I'm also curious if they'll go 20/20 for the last two seasons since it seems like the last 8 of S4 are unlikely to get made anytime soon.

excited for it...but i really wonder how things will turn out with the strike and all. Did they have a story that they could legitamitly rap up a shortened season with? I guess we will find out.
from tvguides ask ausiello

2 character will be killed within the first couple of episodes.
yeah itll be one of the others and scott, or steve, i forget which one is still alive.

I just got my blu-ray set so I am going to re-watch season 3 before the premiere on Jan. 31.

I have to agree with everybody, this show is definately in my top spot right now. I didn't think they could get any better than "The Man from Tallahassee," then they hit us with the finale...

I can't wait!

Thought I'd bump this for the impending half-season premiere.

Now for some speculation:

I've been rewatching the first season on DVD and just hit the "House of the Rising Sun." In that episode, the group splits up and half move into the caves. On the first trek into the caves, Jack, Kate, Charlie, and Locke find two bodies together. Jack states that they've been there for at least 40 or 50 years and that one of them is female. The only thing they find on the bodies is a small bag with a two shiny stones--1 black and 1 white.

Of course, speculation has been rampant that these two bodies may turn out to be Bernard and Rose (explaining the one white, one black stone). Clearly, if this were the case, time travel would be involved in the storyline.

Also, this past summer, there was a new LOST orientation video online about a new station (The Orchid--http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bTvAUVPyLI). Again, there is a clear connection with time travel.

My question: Do you think this is the season they bring that to the forefront? How so? Am I wrong?

Like the show isnt enough of a mindfuck without time travel being involved.

I wonder if they are ever going to go into the whole origins of the island (natives, creatures, whatever the hell that smoke thing is).

Lost Season 8: ...Jack, kate and Sawyer

Met the greatest earthquake ever known
High on the rapids It struck their tiny raft (insert screams here)
And plunged them down a thousand feet below

Eahhhhhhhhhhh

I don't think there will be time travel or anything.
It seems the last half of the show is looking to be the island taking up the bulk of episodes as usual but those will be flashbacks and the former flashbacks will be flash forwards instead.

And about the black and white stones:
In the beginning, the first reference to black and white was Locke explaining backgammon to Walt. Locke tells Walt backgammon was the oldest game in the world, played with peices made from bones. I think that scene was indicating Walt was a good force and Locke the evil force...or maybe even vice versa since Walt's "power" killed a bird when his mother first noticed he was not normal. Later when Jack found the cave with the two mummified corpses, the stones were found, the two aged corposes might tie into the backgammon scene, being that the dead bodies were "ancient" and skeletal (ie: bone).

Interesting theory, but then where does "The Orchid" orientation video fit in? The same bunny clearly appears, prompting the guy to freak out and demand that the bunnies are kept away from each other. Doesn't that hint at a time travel situation like Back to the Future (i.e., Marty running into himself implodes the universe)?

Lost is like sex in all aspects except people on a video gaming forum can truly discuss it in detail.

Whether Locke is good or evil he is my favorite character still.

I Dont like Locke at all, his Faux crocidile dundee philosophy and "Believe in the Island" tripe annoy the fuck out of me. I just cant wait for the Monster/Shadow/Security System/Dinosaur/Giraffe/That one guy that wont seem to die/Sawyer/Giant Enemy crabs/Bunny with "the Sickness"/Random Explosion/falling in a ditch/Spider bite/ Spontaneous combustion to come along and kill him off.

My favorite Characters were Micheal, It was funny watching him every episode screaming "Walt!!! WALT!!" ....what a horrible father.

Mr. Eko and His Holy Pimp Stick, he was just an awesome guy and they had to go and kill him by smashing him into a tree...bastards

Charlie, what an adoring lil crackhead.

Ana-Lucia, Michelle fucken rodriguez man...what more could you want, Filthy bastards had to go and kill of one of my favorite acting ladies.

I lost interest in lost after season 2. It suddenly struck me that Lost is just a modern version of Glligan's Island. Now i'm a Heroes fan.

I like him because he's damn cutthroat. The "others" have nothing on him because if you piss him off he'll fuck you up hardcore (as has been shown numerous times). We'll find out later he's the reincarnation of Jesus or something.

See, I don't think we are actually going to get many answers this season (come on, how many answers have we gotten at all??)

they already said that the show has AT LEAST 2 more seasons, possibly 3 left, so they could (and in my mind, will possibly) have another seasons of bringing up more and more complex questions, and then spend the final season or 2 answering them.

We shall see... I think they are going to spend a good amount of time this season jumping forword and back from on the island, to them off the island (in the future)

See, the thing is that, for the most part, people think Lost got better in Season Three. Now, Season Two of Heroes, on the other hand...;)

(I should admit I haven't had a chance to watch Heroes yet; I'm just going from what I've heard from my sister, my friends, and the internet at large.)

Whatever happens now, they know how many episodes they've got left since the show's got an ending date. I've got faith that anything the writers bring up now will be answered.

Last season's finale is fair game by now, I'm guessing, but I'll use the tags just in case.
I'm still pissed off about Charlie - I was hoping for a Driveshaft reunion at the end of the series - but I'm looking forward to the new season. The time travel aspect caught me by complete surprise, as it was intended to, so I'm just going to sit back and see what they've got in store for us this year. :D

Season 2 of heroes was strange, though it did at least answer qustions from the previous season. They've gone with a weird new volume system for heroes. Like the volumes of a comic book. Volume two ended last year and volume 3 should start sometime this spring/summer i hope.

Lost's insistance on not asnwering questions finally got to me. I get that it's to keep people hooked, but i just got sick of it.

I would love to discuss my theories here, but I care too much about this show and there's always some oblivious/inconsiderate dipshit who's already 'spoilified' an episode or two ahead of what's been broadcast, so that will have to wait until the end/hiatus of this 8-episode run.

My biggest concern right now is since they have a six-season arch in place, with this season possibly being truncated, does that bump up Season Five from 16 to 23/24 episodes? Are they just going to have to 'compress' the story they've got mapped out? Will this possibly cause a short seventh season? Will the Ubisoft game flat-out suck??

Well, I think we already all know the answer to that last one.

EDIT: Anyone who honestly opines that Heroes is a superior series, well...I'll just adhere to what I call "The Thumper Principle".

Concerning the cash-in (non-canon, apparently) game, it's funny, I, of all people, think they made a big mistake by not making a Wii version of it, or just making a Wii exclusive. The graphics already appear to seriously underachieve on the 360/PS3 version, and since this game is probably going to be 'licensed Myst' on the whole, the Wii controllers could've made it much more intriguing. And it would've given me a third-party Wii game to be embarrassingly and disproportionately excited about.

jollydwarf, all remaining 3 seasons will be 16 episodes. Supposedly to focus strictly on core mystery plot and have less side story episodes. Perhaps they figured 3 seasons was enough flashbacks to establish characters and can just have 48 straight finale caliber episodes.

OK, I've been watching S1-3 to catch up and got to episode 8 of Season 3. Which is the best I can come up with to explain the Orchid station theories.

Major
Desmond seems to have traveled back in time when he used the key on the hatch. That the numbers ticking down to zero trigger a time travel event. Because he wakes up years prior and suddenly has a power in the past that he did not have before the hatch event. Like that moment where he looks at the clock and sees 1:08, then has a deja vu moment, considering 108 minutes were the hatch timer numbers. Maybe that's what ties the stations together. The Swan was the time travel device, the Pearl monitored the Swan to make sure nobody in there discovered what it was and tried to use it, and the Orchid is the research station, with the Hydra being a breeding environment for animals used as test subjects. There's still at least 1 more station, if people consider the medical hatch the Tailies found to be one.

i just finished season 3 episode 12 (im watching it over again and my gf for the first time before season 4) and i gotta say, i really hope they dont complicate things further with
tiem travel story lines. its goin gto be confusing enough if they start doing alternate future story lines all season. but really, i dont see any indications of time travel, other than desmonds experience after the hatch blew. as for his gift, it certainly isnt the strangest thing on the island, so i dont think it necessarily means theres time travel though.

Hey check it out, ( i really didnt know this) they have all the seasons of lost Online to watch on ABC.com for free. and they also have all the VCast mobisodes as well, some of them dont really offer much, most of it for some reason focuses on Arzt (the exploding asshole) But the one to watch for sure is "Room 23" especially if you're a walt fan and Theorist.

http://abc.go.com/primetime/lost/missingpieces/index

Look at the Video for "Room 23"

jollydwarf, all remaining 3 seasons will be 16 episodes.

Well, that's what I'm saying. Will this 'season' be just eight episodes due to the strike (gnashes teeth), with the other eight not appearing until next fall? 8 + 24 = 16 + 16, no? Actually, if we get new Lost from early Fall straight through to May of '09, I'm okay with that. Man, if the strike(s) affect the show long enough to even delay that...(shudders, gnashes teeth harder)

Minor spoiler (primarily pertaining to Season Two, actually!) that people who listened to Damon and Carlton (via podcast or otherwise) at this year's Comic Con already know:
I'm very interested to see how Libby's backstory is reintegrated into this season. I was always under the impression that her character was killed off because of her 'real world' misbehavior on the island (DUI, I think?). I mean, I'm assuming they're actually bringing Cynthia Watros back for at least a couple episodes, even if she obviously won't be needed in Hawaii?

Oh, I get what you're saying now. And it looks like there will be indeed 8 episodes. It was supposed to be a straight uninterrupted airing. But by sheer luck the 8th episode happens to be a cliffhanger akin to last season's planned (albeit annoying) busted-up season. So it might wind up being the same scenario as last season.

RAMSTORIA, I hope you are right. I love this show and hope it does not wind up being about time travel. For such a cleverly crafted show, it would be a shame to devolve into a hokey time travel plot.

Time travel or It's all a dream = sauce of the weakest magnitude. They better not pull some cop-out BS like that.

Anyone who watched the Orchid vid:

The comments already tell you to check out 39 seconds and 1:09 in the vid.

39 has the scary Charlie Chan looking dude (Kaiser Sose? Or the now immortal? Jacob? Mr. Hanzo?), and 1:09 has "God Loves You As He Loved Jacob" or something to that effect.

Damn, I love this show.

i just saw the last 3 episodes to refresh my memory, and i dont know if this is old news...but when Locke and Ben go to see Jacob, and the house starts shaking, someone is sitting in the chair. I kept going back to that same part to make sure, and i know for a fact someone is in that chair.

Another sighting of that (Season 3 episode spoiler underneath)
When Alex helped Kate and Sawyer escape if they helped free her boyfriend Carl, when they found Carl strapped to the chair in the "brainwashing room", a couple of the images were on the screen of importance. One was a picture of that bearded scientist only showed so far in the Orientation video, and the other a brief flash of the "god loves you as he loved Jacob" phrase. Also, are you sure it was 1:09, because 1:08 would coincide with the hatch timer...which is the same time Desmond saw on the clock when he had his time travel experience.
Is she the blonde with the big jubblies thats Jack's new love interest? If so, you're very correct.
Penelope was Desmond's girlfriend. Juliet is the jubblygirl.

Is she the blonde with the big jubblies thats Jack's new love interest? If so, you're very correct.

No, that's Juliet. Penelope ("Penny") is Desmond's 'British Chasey Lain*-lookalike' girlfriend with tons of family money. The two are very clearly fixated on finding one another again.

I think there's going to be a bit of time travel involved in the show ultimately, like it or not. But I don't think it's all on that. No, my biggest fear is that the mysteries on and off the island are mounting to a critical mass and while the creators have said ABC allowing them to have a predetermined end of the show will minimize the "tapdancing" they've done with the overall story, I'm afraid that we'll end up with a Matrix trilogy scenario. What I mean by that is that Lost could touch on a lot of elements of what's going on, but never address them again. I fear that we may only get the broadest and vaguest sense of what the whole show was about.

Make no mistake, I don't want the last half of Season Six to be Architect-y exposition explaining every fucking fan forum question, but I definitely don't want the other extreme, where the whole show ends up being treated like the contents of the briefcase in Pulp Fiction, i.e. left for eternal discussion and speculation. There's a balance point there where all the key issues will be sufficiently addressed, but the longer the "What the fuck?!" moments keep mounting on one another, layer after layer, the harder it's going to be for them to give us a satisfactory explanation and conclusion in the remaining time. Season Four is the time to start giving us answers.

While I haven't quite formed a sound theory on what's ultimately in play on the show, my prediction for the end is that...drumroll...
the surviving survivors of 815 become "the Hostiles", effectively 'flipping' the sides of the gameboard. I really doubt that the island will be revealed to the rest of the world, and the organizations that know about it will keep the information suppressed. I also don't see a traditional 'happy ending' for anyone involved, only tragedy and bittersweet resolutions.

That's enough for now.

*--Like, circa the mid-'90s Chasey. I think she's been all hacked up now.
