Lost Season 4 Discussion - Because You Left
i found this site about a week ago, its a great site with LOADS of info, way more than youd ever want to know.
I was on the site daily last season. It's pretty addictive.
Another sighting of that (Season 3 episode spoiler underneath)
When Alex helped Kate and Sawyer escape if they helped free her boyfriend Carl, when they found Carl strapped to the chair in the "brainwashing room", a couple of the images were on the screen of importance. One was a picture of that bearded scientist only showed so far in the Orientation video, and the other a brief flash of the "god loves you as he loved Jacob" phrase. Also, are you sure it was 1:09, because 1:08 would coincide with the hatch timer...which is the same time Desmond saw on the clock when he had his time travel experience.
It was right at 1:08/1:09, plus this is taken from YouTube time so it could be off by such a tiny amount. I agree it is most likely 1:08

Tonight I begin my Lost-a-thon, albeit later than planned. All 3 seasons. Every episode. Must finish by the 31st.

Also, I saw an Oceanic commercial last night, Can't remember which channel, though. It wasn't ABC.

About Jacob:
Just watched that episode the second time last night and must have missed it the first time, but there IS somebody sitting in the chair. The camera pans left when "Jacob" pushes/kicks Ben into the wall, then it pans right real quick and for a split second you can see someone sitting in the chair.

thanks for clarifying that...i knew i wasnt crazy

Nah I'm sure you saw someone, as did I when I first watched it when it aired, at least for an instant. Sort of like when Syler first appeared (if I remember correctly) on Heroes when, I believe it was Parkman, chased him down and shot at him? You couldn't make out the face but it was more than likely Zachary Quinto doing the scene.

I will have to watch the DVD in slow-mo. Perhaps there is also a credit listed for 'Jacob'?

The game is also starting to build up steam. Check out updates here:

www.viadomus.blogspot.com

It's looking more and more like an interesting experience for fans, and not an outright disaster. Just don't expect great gameplay or heavy action, regardless of how non-terrible its reviews are.

Hey, it may be all we have to keep us 'immersed' between Spring and next TV season....

I'm totally getting that game. Any creator endorsed tie-ins would just add to the experience. Plus, this game genre is sadly rare these days.

It'll be worth it just to wander around The Swan and go in the Black Rock. I like the idea of stuff happening from the show during the game. Like that TV.com preview saying you'll hear the hatch explosion, and I'd guess see the sky turn purple.

Im getting the game, The chance to Bitch slap Jack whenever he starts crying over kate, or the ability to Beat the living shit out of Locke whenever he says something about Believing or Hope something equally stupid. or finally kick sawyer in the nuts for being an overall dick, or Playing hacky sack with a bag of herion with charlie, and playing baseball with eko and his holy stick, Or standing around taking snapshots of Sun's ass (Kate has no ass).

This game is mine.

yeah... im not sure those are the games features

I'm going to buy it Day One, but wait for a few post-release reviews before I crack the shrinkwrap. Given the source material and my acceptance that the game is NOT going to be Resident Enigma or The Legend of Dharma, I can deal with something in that 5-6 range. My biggest concern at this point is that because it's a licensed game and because it appears to be on a crash course (buh-dum!) with February 26th no matter what, I fear something so buggy even a year of updates won't fix it. Of course, most Lost fans will think the bugs are part of the game within the game. "Ooh, it's like Eternal Darkness, but cooler! And deeper!"

Even if the game is relatively short or doesn't have a lot of 'meat' to it, I'm sure I'll aimlessly wander for the dual purpose of Achievements and because, well, it's fucking Lost.

Kate has no ass, yet Sun does? HAHAHAHA!!!

I'm not even going to get into the stereotyping Asian female body = young boy body argument, but let me just relate a story from my bachelor party.

One of the strippers/hos was a Korean girl. One of my friends, a Korean male, was commenting on her after she left, in a discussion of her nationality. He said "Yeah she was definitely Korean. Her face was Korean."

My other friend, also a Korean male, quickly retorted "I don't know about her face but her ass was definitely Korean." As in, the lack thereof.

Either way, neither Kate nor Sun have that Ta-DOW ass.

You know you're right, I was going off what i saw when sun decided to show off her Cute little bikini....That was later on iconified as an Action Figure ...here

Then Jin had to go ruin it and cover her up, because "She was showing too much"

Lost season 4 premieres this Thursday Jan. 31st! So, as usual, let's discuss our theories and thoughts on the new episodes. Official season 4 trailer here:

If you haven't watched all the Missing Pieces webisodes, I suggest you do that while you've got the time.

ABC will be re-airing the season 3 finale this Wednesday, Jan. 30th at 8pm EST. So it might be a good idea to catch that in order to freshen up on the series, it's been a while since we've seen new Lost episodes.

And remember, it's common courtesy use spoiler tags when talking about new episodes. Like so:
(without the spaces)
[ spoiler ] What you'd like to say here. [ /spoiler ]

I'll get things started:

My guess is that the flash forward we saw from the finale was one of Desmond's flashes.
Someone told me that this season is only going to be the 8 episodes they got to record before the strike...is this correct?
Yeah 8 episodes and then whenever the strike ends we'll see the rest. A bit of a killjoy as I completely forgot about that.

Response to spoiler
I think Jack's scene was the big halfway point switcheroo. That it was a present moment and all following island scenes will be flashbacks. That maybe half the people left and the rest were not allowed to. Jack needs to save people by nature, which is why he wants to go back to the island.

I pondered this for some time.

I remember reading that majority of filming this season will take place in Hawaii so I guess we'll see what happens.

All taping for LOST takes place in Hawaii.

It's been confirmed that six people will leve the island ("The Oceanic 6") and with Jack and Kate off, that leaves 4 spots open. Desmond said he saw Calire and Aaron getting into a helicopter and leaving the island, too...

well what did you guys think?

i was a little disappointed in this episode, but i was kind of expecting an episode like this, setting up the arch of the story (the future flashes and the splitting of the group) with not too much happening, just questions being raised.

i guess the future flashes are here to stay.

so who do you guys think the other 3 of the oceanic six are?

personally i think the people that are on the island is the return of dharma, but i guess well find out before too long.

I'd hazard that Sawyer is one of 'em. It seemed like Kate was anxious to see Jack in the future flashback of Season 3's finale. My guess would be that she ended up with Sawyer when they got back from the island, and that she believed that seeing Jack would complicate things. I can't think of another reason for her not wanting to see him.

Sawyer must be one because Kate says "He'll wonder where I am." when she hesitantly agrees to meet Jack at the airport. One of the Survivors seems to have died according to the coffin in the S3 finale. I think it's either Walt or Locke. Probably Locke since Jack said the person in the coffin was neither friend nor family. And the S4 premiere proved Jack is definitely not a friend to Locke.

I loved the premiere. It sets up yet another huge mystery. When Hurley said "I shouldn't have went with Locke." And I'm glad Locke has the common sense to think what I thought: Let's move to the barracks. They've got a pool table!

I like this idea of half the people getting off and the rest trying to band together a la Stephen King's "IT" to find the island to save them. And if anybody remembered the S3 finale funeral home name being an anagram for "flash forward," the name of the character Lance Reddick plays (the dude from The Wire) is an anagram. Matthew Abbadon = "what bad boat men?" ;)

Can we do this thread without the spoilers? Anyone that would start reading through here without seeing the latest episode would be pretty retarded and therefore they deserve to have their shit spoiled.

That being said, what is with the future visions. It seems like such a crutch .. just like the flashbacks. I can imagine a discussion while writing the script went like this ...

Writer 1: Hey guys, seriously the fans are going ape shit about the flashbacks ruining the show. We have to get rid of them.

Writer 2: But then there's too much actual storyline to write.

Writer 1: I know! Instead of showing glimpses of the past which have no impact on the storyline, we'll show glimpses of the future which also will have no impact on the current storyline!

Writer 2: Brilliant!

EDIT: Anyone catch the Oceanic Airlines commercial during Eli Stone? There's clips of a guy cut in saying "They're lying". I know it wasnt him but he kinda looked like Desmond if he had a really short haircut.

I loved this Lost episode especally

All the scenes were Hurley is going crazy.

Also I think the island has something to do with alternate universes but that could just be me.

Were the writers not paying attention when they tried to make Charlie prove he was real by hitting Hurley? They did the same exact thing with Dave, and he wasnt real either.

Other than that, I thought it was a good episode. The forward flashes are confusing me a bit; but my guess right now is that Dharma are the 'bad guys' for this season. Hopefully we'll learn a but more about the island itself; I'm still wondering what the hell the smoke monster is and why it exists.
Whatever happened to the giant dinosaur thing? It was there in the first episode and never appeared again.
the giant dinosaur thing IS the smoke monster
Can we do this thread without the spoilers?
I'm all for it if everyone else is. Writing spoiler tags in quick reply is a pain in the ass.
I'm all for it if everyone else is. Writing spoiler tags in quick reply is a pain in the ass.
Seriously. I figure anyone who is reading this thread has seen every episode. If they haven't then odds are they wouldn't read this anyways since OBVIOUSLY everything we write is about the previous episode.

Ana Lucia dies.

I think the six are Jack, Kate Hurley, Sayid, Jin and Sun. I think the person in the coffin is Locke, who they killed and brought with them
Michael is probably in the coffin. The six Jack, Kate, Hurley, that others chick that jack's gonna hook up with (forgot her name), Claire's baby, and Michael. Everyone is after the baby because it has magical powers. The others chick was told to look over the kid. Jin will die saving Sun on the island and Claire dies to whatever the enemy of the week is as part of their show of force.

*submits his theory. You may poke holes now*

Okay, I'm going to test out the no-spoiler idea right now. Magehart, Michael may very well be in the coffin. Some speculation is the article Jack reads talks about a man from New York found dead in Los Angeles. Michael is the only one confirmed to be a New Yorker. Michael would also not be a friend to Jack, since he betrayed them...moreso than Locke ever did.

Sweet. IDK why everyone keeps saying it's Locke. I just can't see him leaving the island. We all know he'd rather die than leave.

So what are the odds Jacob = Smoke Monster/Wisp?

My guess is the smoke monster is an anomaly created by that "incident" that may or may not involve a time travel experiment.

As far as Jacob (sorry, but this is too big to post without the spoiler tag)
I didn't catch it, but many claim Jack's dad was sitting in the chair when Hugo looked in the cabin. But that doesn't mean it IS Jack's dad because the whole scene seemed to be a hallucination, and Hugo has had hallucinations on the island before.
Yeah, it was Jack's dad. I saw the vid cap cleaned up real well and it's clearly Christian Shepard.
Well, it wouldn't be the first time we've seen Jack's dad alive and well on the island. Back in first season he popped up once. Let's not forget that his body was on the plane as well and we already know how the island has healing powers

Also part of the weird webisodes that Verizon/abc.com had

Yes.....but he was DEAD weeks before the plane crashed on the island.....and if the Island can miraculously cure...umm...BEING DEAD!!! then we'd have nothing but a whole island full of Zombies and as much as id like to see Michelle Rodriguez as a zombie again...it aint happening, Hurley is Crazy...and Desmond can see into the future....and Jack has the amazing power to be a giant Dick and a great gaping pussy at the same time.

My guess at the Oceanic 6 are Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sawyer, Claire and her baby. I can't see Locke coming off the island for any reason unless his faith gets smashed once again. It was nice seeing Charlie back for what could be his last episode (even though it most likely won't be). He was my favorite character. Team Locke FTW.

Sun would make far more sense, seeing as she may run into problems if her baby is born on the island.

anyone check out the wite for the new alternate reality game?

i think its flyoceanicair.com ?
anyway it has been going on and from what i can gather its done with here is a re-cap for those of us who dont care that much.

http://lostpedia.com/wiki/Find_815

pretty interesting...fills in a few gaps and will maybe tie into things this season.

Also the rep from oceanic looks 'wispy/shimery' when he leaves hurley........anyone else catch that? or is it just my tv being stupid....

PS cloverfield ended pretty well, so i think there is hope for lost ending well.

It could be michael in the coffin AND he might not count as one of the SIX as well.
this show is awesome....

well micheal is due back on the show...so it would make sense if he was in the coffin

as for jacks dad
it would make sense, as future jack told his boss to go get his dad and we will see who is more drunk

Regarding the Oceanic ads, yeah that guy is the 'fiance' of one of the flight attendants, who has some web related stuff and is 'trying to get to the bottom of what really happened' to the plane etc.
