being a huge fan of the show, i really want this. but i already own 1-4 on dvd and 5 & 6 on blu so it's very hard to justify. id probably pick it up at $50 if that price ever happened

I saw this email from Amazon this morning and I had to get it. Used a $50 gift card from Christmas to make it cheaper. I'm just going to trade in my DVD copies but keep my Special Dharma Edition of season 5 on BluRay.

I would probably get this if it was a bundle of all six seasons in their individual boxsets. I don't really like the packaging and have no real interest in the little shitty accessories.

It is very tempting, though. Especially since I have like $90 in Amazon credit...

I'd recommend that nobody blind buy this. The last season and especially the ending made this the most disappointing tv show that I have ever watched. I'm annoyed that I wasted time with it, I can't imagine wasting $100 on it.

I'm buying it but I support this. I blind bought tv shows only to put them back on the chopping block immediately.

This show is hugely polarizing and it's meant to be. I sold Six Feet Under after going through all of it but I understand people who want to own it forever.

Great deal, but I'd rather buy this version since I'm not overly excited at having all the trinkets...

I haven't seen this show yet but have heard a lot of great things about it. So should I not get it? Does the ending really kill it?
So should I not get it? Does the ending really kill it?
No one can answer that question but you. Yes, the ending was disappointing for most but others ,such as Stephen King, liked it. I loved watching the series with my roommates and friends so to me it was a no brainer. I bought it last year during BF.
Wow and I thought when I picked it up on Black Friday it was a good price. Definitely a must buy at that price
Me too, I'm a little bitter. Paid $30 more for it less than a month ago, that's a pretty big price drop. Haven't opened my set yet, considering returning it and re-purchasing at the $99.

yah, ending is very debatable on the hate/love fan base. I loved the series.............up until the end. I mean it was still good, but the ending just really disappointed me.

fuck, I don't have time to watch this series again. But I don't know if this will ever be less than $100.

I've seen every episode of Lost. If I'm going to re-watch a series, maybe it should be The Wire, The Sopranos, or Battlestar Galactica. But I haven't really watched any of the special features from Lost dvds/blu rays.

fuck, I can't decide. I have $88 worth of Amazon credit I could use. But it will be literally years before I get around to re-watching this series.

Do you guys think it will ever be less than $99.99 ??? That's like $2.78 per blu-ray disc.

Looking around at other sites (Best Buy, Walmart, Target, buy, newegg) it is not available on any of them so it may become hard to find in the future.

Damn, you're right. All those websites are out of stock except it looks like best buy (listed as $239.99).

You talked me into it. I ended up buying it after all. It cost $17 after using up my Amazon credit from game trades (promised I'd use that for textbooks:roll:).

I bet sometime in the near future we will start seeing the individual blu ray sets really cheap. Maybe it will be something along the lines of the Mad Men blu-rays on Black Friday. Who knows. It's all speculative.

I bought the Seinfeld complete series a few years ago for around $99.99 and I don't think it's dropped below $84 on amazon unless I'm forgetting about a lightning deal. If this Lost boxset has similar pricing, I don't mind losing out on approximately $16.

If I didn't have amazon credit, I wouldn't spend $99.99 cash right now. I'll have fun rewatching this series in like 2018. The blu-ray format will probably be very cheap by then.

I've recently bought the Boy meets World Series, Tales from the Crypt series, Sex and the City series, and now the Lost series (all thanks to CAG:)). What an eclectic assortment of shows. I'm going to line them all up on the same shelf so when people see them all they say "What the fuck dude? Boy Meets World, Tales From the Crypt, Sex and the City, and Lost?" I'll respond "Dude, I like Topanga, HBO shows, and getting mind fucked."

The ending was brilliant. Don't listen to the people who don't understand it and only watched the show for "Answers".

Does anyone know how the actual disc packaging looks? I don't really like the box, it looks like a board game. I want to buy this but I have all 6 seasons, and this boxing is turning me off.

I just checked how much they give, and I could sell my seperate DVD seasons to Amazon and get $65.75 store credit so it would be like a $35 wash to upgrade to the complete set which I'm pretty sure I would get in Blu. Sell my old individual dvd seasons to Amazon. Upgrade for $35 to the complete set on Blu. I'm undecided because of the boxing.

I enjoyed the ending. I knew for certain way beforehand that there was no way in hell it would satisfy what I built up in my mind over that six years of loyal viewing. I was expending something bad like a "Matrix 3" but ended up with something I thought was more than decent, something more like a "Star Wars episode 3."

I guess it depends if the extra disc content is worth $35. I kind of like the weird packaging of the complete set even though I have no idea where I will store it. It's a shame you can't keep the packaging from the individual seasons and just trade in your blu-ray discs. I'm sure there are unboxing videos on youtube so you can see the packaging of the complete series discs.

The actual blu rays are in one package which is about twice the height of normal blu ray cases. You could keep this on your shelf and store the rest somewhere else if you wanted to.

(spoilered just in case anyone who hasn't watched reads)

Just because a person thinks that a show that's built on mysteries of an unusual island should, you know, provide some real explanations at some point in the series it doesn't mean he or she is incapable of understanding the ending.

It was all about the characters, that's awesome... Except for the fact that the characters all become painfully annoying and redundant in their own stupid behaviors by the end of the series. The hope for answers is really the only thing that made me continue watching the last two seasons, which were pretty fucking awful.

So when a bunch of characters, all of which I grew to absolutely hate, have a happy ending and the show's writers give a big old "fuck you" to anyone wanting to know more about this supernatural island they created by leaving pretty much all the big things unanswered... You call that brilliant. I call that a huge waste of time.

Well you were a mislead viewer and shouldn't have continued watching. Clearly the characters didn't inspire hate towards the end. Everyone cared about them.

To everyone who is considering/ never saw it/ don't own it already-- buy it. This is a must buy for those that do not own the series in any way, never saw it, or saw it and never bought it.

For me... I think I'll reconsider if it becomes cheaper sometime in the future although this is probably the cheapest we will ever see it. Actually, price isn't even the main factor why I'm backing out. I don't really care for the extras/trinkets it comes with so that doesn't urge me (maybe at the time LOST was airing I would have because I bought everything that had LOST on it). And I don't think I want to pay $35 to upgrade to Blu when I don't even know the next time I will re-watch the series especially with my backlog that consists of Six Feet Under, The Wire, Carnivale, Deadwood, Rome, Mad Men, Sons of Anarchy, Game of Thrones, Spartacus, and Sorpranos. Yep, I have a lot of TV backlog that I need to watch.

Clearly? Everyone cared?

I can accept that a lot of people liked this show but I also know a lot of people, myself included, who were totally disappointed by the end. That's why I said blind buys are not a good idea for this show, as it is a love/hate type of thing. I'd recommend renting it before someone spends $100 on something they could seriously despise.

I'm glad you liked it, but you should get over the fact that some people didn't. Maybe you don't care about answers or maybe you think Charlie and Harley were likable characters, but that doesn't mean everyone else shares those opinions.

Do you mean Hurley? You watched the show... right?

I actually disagree with both of you. Season 1 of Lost is some of the best TV ever. And I enjoyed it up until the bitter end, although the last season was definitely the weakest. I found it odd that the awful religious ending of BSG happened right around the same time as the awful religious ending of Lost... it's like the Tebow fanatics infiltrated my favorite sci-fi shows for a season.

But you watch Lost for the characters, which are some of the greatest that have ever been on TV. I have a lot of friends who were peeved throughout the series that they never got an adequate explanation for the smoke monster or the island or whatever, and I think those people really missed the point. But I would never in a million years call the ending brilliant. The writers wrote themselves into a corner, and it was obvious for a while on that series.

As for this boxset, I love it, but damn is it hard to store.

Harley, Hurley.... The annoying fat guy who won the lottery.

If I'm wrong about the other name, I'm talking about the annoying rockstar who sang the worst song ever composed by a human being.

Either way, I'm not trying to say anyone is wrong for liking it. I just don't want anyone to spend their money without knowing what they're getting since this isn't exactly cheap. I don't think I need to reiterate that any more and it's not my intention to rehash every little thing that I can't stand about the show, so I'll just be quiet now :).

That's another clear example that people didn't understand the show and thought the writers cornered themselves. Lol, they knew how the show would end as soon as the show started. Matthew Fox was the only actor in the show to know how it ended and he knew since season 1. These writers are smart, scrazy smart.

To each there own, I could care less who likes it and doesn't. I only get annoyed when people think the ending sucked because they didn't answer questions. I hear CSI is starting another season, go watch a show like that for answers lol.

No, the show was made up as they went along. Matthew Fox's character was only supposed to be in the pilot/few episodes, then killed off. Kate was meant to be the main character and leader. Things evolved a lot as the show went on, and remember the writer's strike?

I started watching Lost when Season 2 came out on DVD so I watched both seasons in a row. It started out annoying to me, but I grew to love the characters fast in Season 1. Then Season 3+ on TV DVR. I saved up episodes, watch them all almost in a row. I cannot stand waiting a week. I absolutely loved the show, and the journey. The ending left a bad taste in my mouth only because it was a "cop out". Just my opinion, and many others probably. Doesn't mean the show is ruined for me, because I will watch it again for sure.

Someone recommended someone buy this at $100 before even watching it? That's a hefty price to try something out. Netflix has all seasons on steaming I think.

I am a fan of the show, so I will buy the set when I see a reasonable price. $17 a season sounds cheap, but dropping $100 doesn't sound cheap. The extras listed do look interesting to watch, I can't wait.

I think it's worth $100, and I bought it for $125 last BF and was happy to pay that price. But I think you might be right to wait. This thing is MASSIVE, and apparently they made a lot of them. Amazon and other places probably can't wait to get rid of them and use the space for something else.

I saw the whole series, if you have a huge backlog it sucks to say but you might want to wait, but if your a fan of the show, its a must have, people who haven't seen the show should check out the beginning episodes. I can see this price disappearing soon, especially it being the whole season on bluray. Great find. +1

Actually that's not correct. Originally that was the plan when they were going to put Michael Keaton in the role, but then they decided to change it so the Jack character would not die early on, and they realized they couldn't cast Michael Keaton in the role any longer (since he was not interested in signing on for a long term).

I have a feeling that when they say they knew how it would end, it was very high level or very specific as far as the actions in the final moments on the island. I don't think they had any clue how they were going to get there and didn't really plan that fully until Season 3 when they got the contract to end it in the 6th season.

I'm always wary when someone says they hated the show for the ending. More often than not when I have a discussion with that person they completely misunderstood that the final 10 minutes of the show only apply to part of season 6 and not the entire series.

I think $100 is a steal for this thing. I actually traded in my 6 seasons of blu rays to upgrade to the complete set, but I'm a big fan and considered selling them off on ebay and buying the thing when it was $250. At $100 it was a no-brainer for me.

I'm not here to argue/troll but I completly disagree. Even if you do not like the finale, overall it's probably the greatest television show ever. This show is about the journey, not the end.

As an avid fan of the show, you'll adore it. The box itself has a ton of Easter eggs and little hints on it, trust me you want this version.

I remember that Black Friday deal last year. In the CAG thread everyone was worried and said to buy it fast, since they weren't going to make any more copies of this Lost set.

I think this set is worth $100 too. But the CAG in me knows it can get cheaper. Guess I'm really picky right now since the Christmas season ate my wallet.

I pulled the trigger on this, thanks to some Amazon gift cards I got for Christmas. Probably my favorite show of all time. While the last couple seasons has some off moments, I thought the finale was great. I've been wanting to go back to the island from the beginning again, I haven't watched the series since the original airings. Very excited to get this set.
I don't have to read it, I know. I met Matthew Fox and had a convo with him about it.
Translation: "I don't want to read that because I'm afraid I might be wrong."

Was tempting, but I hate non-standard packaging and like some others who posted, I don't think I'd rewatch this any time soon. I don't really have time for TV series these days, much less re-watching them. I was also a little soured by the ending/final season like some others.

So I'll hold off and maybe there will be a good deal on the individual season Blurays down the road.

I understood it fine, and even thought it was a good ending for the character arcs. I was just more into the show for the island mystery stuff of the first 2 or 3 seasons, and was let down with how a lot of that played out and a lot of plot lines (Walt etc.) that never went anywhere.

Still a damn good show, but it kind of plodded along the last 2 or 3 seasons compared to the first IMO.

Great post! I'm a huge fan myself and looking back, it's unfortunate they felt forced to hash out so much information toward the end. I feel they almost should've just said "this is our story" and kept even more information unknown. I know this would have initially pissed a lot of fans off, including myself, but looking at the series as a whole I've learned that the "unknown" was absolutely the best part of the show. It was not that fun learning the origins of the smoke monster, the specifics of what the island was, etc. I'm glad they exposed what they did, but it hit a point where I was no longer interested in those specifics, and just wanted them to tell their story.

Picked this up yesterday and paid the extra $4 for next day shipping, so I can watch as much as possible during my New Years break :) Can't wait to get home.

Haha I totally agree. I love how every thread about a Lost DVD deal sooner or later degenerates into a heated dispute about whether or not the ending sucks. I was a big fan of the show when it aired, but really came to love and appreciate it when I watched the whole thing on DVD a second time through (with my daughter this time). It plays much better on DVD, watching 1-2 episodes a night, than it did with the irregular airings and long breaks between seasons on TV, I think. And I personally thought the end was brilliant, but I can understand why some people didn't care for it.

Anyway I doubt this set will drop much below $99, I went ahead and ordered another one and am returning the set I bought for $129 a few weeks ago. I
