To me the most disappointing thing about the show is the fact that it left me without a favorite TV show. To this day I'm still hoping they make a show that can capture my interest as much as Lost did, but I doubt it will ever happen. I wasn't too thrilled about the whole flash-sideways thing they were doing in Season 6, but overall the series is the best I have ever seen.

Still, around season 4 I basically predicted what the ending would be, and I was pretty close (I think).
I basically thought they all died when the plane crashed, and were all now stuck in purgatory. Whenever a character died on the island it was basically them moving on to the afterlife. Their actions on the island would decide whether they went to heaven or hell.

Fringe is at times pretty close capturing my interest like Lost. It's different because they deal with self-contained "monsters of the week" stories or whatever, but the overarching story is a little like Lost.
I understood it fine, and even thought it was a good ending for the character arcs. I was just more into the show for the island mystery stuff of the first 2 or 3 seasons, and was let down with how a lot of that played out and a lot of plot lines (Walt etc.) that never went anywhere.

Still a damn good show, but it kind of plodded along the last 2 or 3 seasons compared to the first IMO.
SPOILER Don't read if didn't watch Lost SPOILER
I think that is one thing that upset me about the ending. Is in fact at least 2 characters didn't get an end to their story arc. And/or we missed the middle of their character arc, as there is a "new leader". We miss all that and it skips to the ultra end leaving us wondering what could have been if they didn't stop at season 6.

I kinda liked the ending overall but I do agree that there were alot of loose ends that never got tied together. I think it could have been better had they been able to do another season.

I don't think this is correct. It states within the show itself in earlier seasons that this is not the case, the ending states it as well, and the writers stated it outside of the show both while the show was airing and since it has ended.

The writers have said that they were not in purgatory or dead the whole time. During the finale one of the characters (can't remember which one) says in the church something to the effect of "everything that happened...actually happened", an attempt to make it clear to the viewer that things were meant to be taken literally.

They really landed on an island, lived through the crash, and most of them got off the island alive. They carry on with their lives post-island, and at various points in time they die, and they come together in the "purgatory" of LA during the side story of season 6. Once they realize the truth that they have died and move on to the church to leave together for the afterlife? (I've read that rewatching it and paying attention to the conversations and the stained glass windows make it clear this isn't tied to a Christian belief of an afterlife, but I haven't had an opportunity to examine this myself).

I purchased this when it was $99 even though I had all of the individual seasons on DVD because I just got a 55" 3D TV (you need to go BD, not just DVD upscale). My set just came in today and I am not disappointed :) Great quality and the box set is pretty cool.

I sealed the deal after watching an unboxing and reading up on it more. Half the stuff in the box set has secrets in it (it comes with a freaking blacklight).

I also usually don't want the big set with crappy extras but this one really did get unanimously positive reviews.

Anyway, deal is dead now so OP should probably update when possible.

I finally got mine today. I guess I'll have fun figuring out the secrets while I unbox it.
