skipping 3.5
Thought through the fact this is the last month im paying for the 2 bedroom apartment on my own. I can go back to my frivilous spending in about 2 months (can I wait that long for SPM???)
You're going to have bad luck for a while to make up for it.
Either that or given the fact that I've had quite a few months of bad luck, maybe this is a sign of good things to come!

Was this a Gamestop you've never been in or what?

There was one out of the way store here that had one....a few months ago, but they had shipped it out to a higher selling store in the neighborhood of February, just a week before I showed up asking for one because I had run into an employee that had mentioned it in passing.

To find one now is just ridiculous. It mustve been buried in the back and someone found it in a fit of spring cleaning

I missed out on a new copy of MArio DDR at my local GS a few months ago. :/

All I want to do is fucking play the game, fuck those high ebay prices.
Its really not that good.
Really? That's good to hear, considering I can't find it.

I think i'll try out Paper Mario in a little bit here.

Just got back from BB with this:

I'm not sure I'm liking that BB's trying TRU's lock up the games behind the counter approach.

Edit: They actually had several Wii Remotes in stock, though. However, there were no nunchucks. I'll wait for the rumored colored remotes to come before purchasing a fourth remote.

Its not too far from where I live but its not one of the few I normally go to. I've gotten fairly lucky there in the past though. I remember I managed to get an Unreal Tournament 2004 Collector's Edition at the same Gamestop when almost every store had only gotten enough for preorders.
Such willpower. I cannot believe you haven't started your 6 hour session yet, Rocko.
Well, I just got home like 2 hours ago or something like that. And I had to get my daily KoL fix.

But... I think I'll start it right now. Then eat. Possibly both at once.

I checked out and started reading A Confederacy of Dunces. From the little bit I've read, it looks to be great.

"It's the Communiss'!"

Finally, Liquid returns to the OTT.

I've been waiting days to post links to these you jerk. It's the Watchmen Absolute Edition book.

I hope to start it tonight.

Know this - that means it actually battles and overtakes Super Paper Mario in terms of precedence.

So this shit had better be good.

It's not that good, oh and I found a new copy at Sears right before Christmas. ;)

Before I start SPM, I just wanted to note how much nicer my collection of Wii games looks without Excite Truck, Rayman and Red Steel bogging it down.

Won't miss those one bit, really.

Go to hell zion

Enjoy :D!

Sigh...as for me: homework time.

Oh yeah. As for promo stuff, it has sketches and background information from the creators. Pretty generic sorts of things, but I love that kind of stuff (the "story behind the story" as it were), so I welcome it as an addition.

But the book itself is of coffee table conversation build. Again, much like the Far Side/Calvin and Hobbes collections.

I also got my Yoshitaka Amano Coffin: The Art of Vampire Hunter D, which is even bigger. And it is unbelievably beautiful. Here, I'll throw the pics in (one second):

And with that, I am off to watch 2001: Space Odyssey.
You found THAT at a Gamestop! Thats MADNESS

MADNESS
Do I even need to say it?

Oh, and I started Watchmen today.

Excite Truck was CRAZY fun for the first few hours but then it got boring really quick. Unfortunately that seems to be the way I am with almost every one of Nintendo's first party games... Well, except Mario Kart Double Dash and Mario Kart DS. I still miss those 2 games and every time I'm at the store now I'm slightly tempted to just say fuck it and buy a gamecube and MKDD or a DS and MKDS.

I just installed the 64 bit version of Vista on my computer because the 32 bit version decided to just stall and sit there. Is that going to be a problem considering most if not all of the programs I use are 32 bit? Will it be a problem for any games I might buy? The only one I have in mind right now is Halo 2 Vista.
And with that, I am off to watch 2001: Space Odyssey.
You've got SPM to play and Watchmen to read and you're watching that instead? :shame:

So, a possible story spoiler for SPM but nothing big:

Did anyone catch a reference to the original Paper Mario when Bleck and his minions are talking after you enter the first door from Flipside opened by the first Heart Pillar, and Mimi transforms into Bowser and asks "Hey, have you been reading my diary?!" That definitely reminded me of Paper Mario.

Honestly...and be honest. Is anyone else tired of fucking Mario games? I havent played a Mario games since Super Mario All Stars (not counting Smash Bros...which i dont really think is a super mario game) but how much side scrolling jumping on turtle action can you take?

Seriously...do they ever do anything else in a Mario game? What the hell is the big deal about them?

I mean we all bitch about sequels to movies..but in the gaming industary we dont say anything when some franchise are nothing but god damn sequels.... How many times can you save the princess or find the Triforce?

Dont get me wrong I am not saying those games are not fun...I am just saying..the games never really change...shouldnt we demand more from the gaming industary?

While I generally agree with your point (the aftertaste of LoZ: TP is pretty sour, looking back on it all), the Paper Mario gimmick still feels fresh to me.

I love how the series parodies the Mari games we've all grown up with and pokes fun at RPG and platformer gaming cliches in general. It's pretty sublime stuff, and Bill Trinen's localization team does it perfectly.

I need to talk to my Discrete Math professor since I apparently copied the proof for the exam from the book even though that part of the exam was a take home portion. I did most of the proof, got stuck, didn't understand what the fuck the book was going at, and just made some stuff up.

So my friend (and his pregnant, 18 year old gf) should know if they're having a girl or a boy tomorrow. I'm a little excited. Just a bit.

Oh, and since I somehow didn't mention it yesterday, my sister got hit by a car. She was on her bike. Apparently she (probably slightly) tore a ligament in her ankle, but she should be fine after about two weeks on crutches. If she takes it easy, which she probably won't. I hope she doesn't fuck it up and hurt herself further.

Sure, it's enjoyable enough... I chunked about 73 hours into it and was completely sold on the Wii control scheme for application in "traditional" games. For that purpose alone, it was a pivotal title for the Wii.

However, you've gotta admit that the series peaked at Ocarina and with the exception of Majora's Mask, the home console games have been resting on Ocarina's laurels.

Beyond that, the two game ending bugs (when did Nintendo hire the dudes from Bethesda?), kinda lame wolf schtick, and absolutely miserable ice dungeon kinda soured things a little. I'm glad I played it, and I really did get my money's worth, but the series needs something to freshen it up in a big way next time.

If they start me off in a goddamn forest dungeon again, I don't know if I can be held responsible for my actions. :D

The Anna Nicole DNA results should've been announced on Maury:

Maury: "Howard...you are NOT the father"
Crowd: *bleep**bleep**bleep**bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep*
Birkhead: YEEEAAAAAAAHHH! I *bleep* TOLD you!

Also, I agree about the Ice Dungeon. That, and Majoras Mask sucked, IMO.

I was thinking about it the other day and while I thought I was a fan of the Zelda series I realized that in the end I'm just a really big fan of Link to the Past (the best of the 2d ones) and Ocarina of Time (the best of the 3d ones) not the entire series. In fact, those are the only two that I've beaten. Hell, I couldn't even stand more than a few hours of any other Zelda games.
I rather enjoyed LoZ:TP on the Gamecube.
I am not saving it wasnt fun..or that you wouldnt enjoy it.

I never played it.

But what I am saying is, How after 50 million Goomba (sp?) jumped on HOW HOW does an annoucement of yet another mario game gets you all antzy in the pantzy?

I just dont understand how a game like Zelda gets 9.0 and higher each and everytime it comes out. It never changes anything...how is that possible.

I think it's just the fact that, it carries the Zelda name, so automatically it does.

I never said it to start a fight, you got my intentions wrong. I was just stating a fact.

And that my friend is exactly what I am saying.

I think all of this stems from only liking a few games of these franchise.

We all like super mario bros 1 and 2 and 3. Maybe Mario 64...but do we really like the other 45 mario games?

No no no.

I wasnt trying to start a fight either. I really wasnt doing anything but saying random thoughts. Sorry if it came off that way. I just honestly always wondered how the game does Mario and Zelda keep earning 9.0 game of the year awards when i dont see anything that proves that they are much better than any other game.

LttP wasn't that good, to me. Actually, it was so not good that by the time I got around to playing it (on GBA) I only got a couple hours in before I decided to trade it in. I eventually picked it up again and finished it, but I didn't think it was nearly as good as LA.

The thing about Mario games is that they're so pure and the controls are some of the absolute most refined controls you'll find in gaming anywhere. Blend in a (usually) thoughtful difficulty curve and countless secrets with a few heaping tablespoons of nostalgia, and you've got a series that people get stoked about.

From the original SMB to SMB3, Yoshi's Island, SMW, and NewSMB, Nintendo has absolutely defined the platformer genre.

For Zelda, it provides a gaming fix that's not so easy to get elsewhere. The games tend to be some of the most polished, beautiful games int he industry. It's really one of the consistent areas where games become art. And the sense of adventure, danger, and excitement is of a kind that is entirely unique to the Zelda franchise. There's that certain quality that these games have that no other games can ever capture.

Having said that, 9.0 was high for Twilight Princess. 8.2-8.5 would've been truer.

I just got my first 'real' Wii game tonight - Zelda. (technically it was Far Cry and Open Season, but only from the trip from BB to EB to trade them in for Zelda)
