Lumines II and other clearance titles $9.98 each on TRU.COM
I seriously doubt many people care about homemade stuff. I mean sure, there's some interesting looking stuff out there, but most people probably just want to steal games.

This whole bashing the Playstation Portable for not allowing homebrew stuff is moronic as NEITHER DOES ANY OTHER RECENT SYSTEM.

Anyone who actually wants to do this kind of stuff should just by a Palm TX, and use the PSP for games.
Yeah, except for the fact that the Palm TX isn't as capable, isn't at-all-designed for gaming and is $100+ more.

The fact is that there's a legitimate homebrew scene, and to group everyone together as thieves and pirates isn't the way to do it. In fact, Sony themselves went a LONG way in LEGITIMIZING homebrew efforts when they released the Net Yaroze for the PS One. Plenty of homebrew projects were made, and a few even made their way to commercial release. That's the kind of development that ought to be nurtured along, as Sony once did. The point is, if Sony would lighten up for a bit, how hard would it be to allow for homebrew software to compile while ensuring that commercial software couldn't be loaded in the same manner? If they would just allow for a way to load homebrew image with a specific extension, then they could basically concentrate on taking out the real pirates.

You underestimate the interest in the homebrew scene as well. There are people willing to sit and code for hours to try their hand at game development, and if a community-driven effort was made to support and get the word out, there would be a lot more people checking out free homebrew downloads than most people would think. On the other hand, Sony has been nailed as an 'evil' corporation nearly constantly over the last couple of years (thanks to the boneheaded people that seem to rise to the top there), that maybe they themselves believe they're past the point of redemption.

And there's platforms for that. The PC espectially, but PDAs, etc.

Game consoles aren't and have never been open. Sure, since there's interest Sony should probably see about some legitamte way for people to do that, but they're under no obligation.

I just think it's bizarre that the PSP is picked on as though this is some kind of shortcoming, when basically no consoles allow it. The Playstation 3 with Linux is the only recent exception if you want to do it for free (otherwise the 360 has a pay option).

Complaining that a company doesn't want you to crack their closed device is silly.

I can't remember which store. Was Monster Hunter Freedom PSP on clearance at TRU? or was it at Circuit City?

Btw, is it getting OOP or something? Looks like the price is rather high on ebay.
It's TRU i bought one last week there for 16.96 and sold it on amazon for 50+
I thought it was TRU too but when I found a copy, it rang up at $29.99. WTF!

I swung by TRU yesterday, and they had 2 copies of Monster Hunter Freedom for $14.9x each. I got both (one for myself & one for a friend) along with Gunpey & Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror. Thanks to that $10 off of $50 coupon they sent me, SF was free. :)

Saw a bunch of Phoenix Wright DS for 9.98 at my TRU. I bit.

I went to my local TRU today checking for copies of Lumines. I nabbed 4 off the shelf and the cashier asked if I wanted more. She gave me the 7 remaining from the back. I also picked up a copy of Lumines II for $9.98 (I'll have to cancel my order on TRU.com that I placed last week. It's still on backorder). When I was ringing up my purchase I thanked the cashier for the heads up on the Lumines. She said 2 weeks ago some guy came in and bought all 80 copies for Phoenix Wright that they had! I assume they were $9.98 each.
