Lunar Dragon Song Reviews

CAGiversary!
I saw Lunar Dragon Song at Target for $14.99. It was by the registers with some other DS games. I read reviews online that give it an average/slightly above average score.

I'm wondering if anyone here has played it and if they think it is worth the money and time of playing it. I like old style RPG's with turn base so it sounds like a game I would like. Let me know what you like/dislike about it. Thanks.

Ive never tried it, but Ive heard nothing but horrible things about it.

I believe one of the biggest complaints about it is that you cannot pick which enemy to attack if there are more than one. It seems to be completely random. So you cant gang up one enemy to quickly take them out. That was one gripe people had, but I believe there are more.

It is terrible. Here's why:

1. Running drains your health.

2. The battle system is either use an item, use magic, or put your character on auto pilot. Because of this, you can't attack individual monsters.

3. You can either get items to complete quests or experience points. Only one at a time though. You can't level while completing quests.

4. Cliched story and what not.

Good Lord what were they thinking? I'll stay far away from this game no matter how cheap it gets.

Thanks for the responses. Now I know not to waste my time playing this. There is not enough time to play all the DS games that I want to play. Puzzle Quest seems to be the next game I need to play.

This is an atrotious game. If you really want a good RPG on the go I would reccomend Lunar Legend on the GBA, which should be about the same price used.

Lunar Legend on the GBA is $9.99 used at EB/GS.

and Jbuck.. you definitely need Puzzle Crack...errr I mean 'quest'. ;)

It sucks dick. That's all you need to know. But I just want to clarify a couple things. Yes you do lose HP when you run, but it's 1 HP per every few seconds, not a percentage of HP every few seconds. This means once you get further into the game running doesn't really affect you since you have more HP. Another thing concerns the quests. Very early in the game you'll need to fight monsters to get items to complete them, but only a couple hours into the game you'll have a chance to BUY items for a few quests, meaning you do not have to fight monsters to complete them. This saves a lot of time and you can get all the money you'd ever want this way. So basically only for a couple hours of the game will you ever be using the item mode for fighting monsters.

Basically, the game is terrible, but it's not the worst game ever. Reviewers didn't play for more than a couple hours most likely and didn't realize that some of the major flaws of the game are negligible after a couple hours in. The game is fucking horrible regardless, but it's like a 3 or 4/10 instead of a 1 or 2/10. It's an ok way to waste time, and since the battle system is on autopilot you can just shoot the shit while the game fights for you, so you can do other stuff while you play. It's not that long either, about 14 hours.

You know, when you stab yourself in the dick over and over again, it eventually stops hurting.

It sucks. But I'm saying it's not the worst game or RPG ever made because it isn't. It's not on the same level as Superman 64. But it is definitely the biggest disgrace ever to the Lunar name.

Thats the thing that makes it hurt worse for me. I LOVED Lunar SSSC on my ps1. I was hoping to recapture that magic with this game.

the game is poorly designed. but dont go run out and buy lunar legends, its a bastard child of silver star story and nowhere near as good. much is cut out from the game and its far easier than its psx counterpart.

However, unless you nab yourself a hacked PSP, PSOne copies of botyh Lunars, and transfer them to you PSP, LL for GBA is the only way to play itr on the go.

QFT.

Lunar Dragon Song have all the wrong ingrediants to make rpg. Dual combat system for either xp or items, running drains your health, boring story, can't traget enemies ,and the only means to get some respective money is doing the same recycle jobs or trading back and forth between towns.

I can't believe i actually beat this crap. It pretty easy game if you understand how to use their system correctly.
