Ok, I've played an entire season with the Detroit Lions and I never ONCE had a player be injured for more than a couple of quarters How often do players go down with injuries in this game?

I do have them on, and I clicked them up about 10 notches in the Gameplay Settings. I just found it odd I never had an injury in an entire season....at least an injury where a player was out for a week or more

I started 6 different Colts seasons last night and at the end of each pre-season,(which I simmed) Manning was always hurt and could not start for at least 3 weeks(twice he was out for the season).

Well, I got my first LONG injury tonight....2 weeks for my backup SS. I have noticed since I bumped the injuries up, a lot more happen.....

Sim injuries and gameplay injuries are handled by different engines. Sim injuries happen TOO often to be realistic (especially career enders) and regular in game ones arent AS frequent as the NFL but for me they happen more than the OP it seems. (usually a few weeks at a time)

Id suggest the sim injury slider at around 1/2 the original (I think its like 50-60 clicks). The in game is a work in progress but obviously click up if you want more, click down if you wish for less.

Also, keep in mind the severity goes up a TON as you click up. So they ll be more plentiful AND longer.

And you cant undo career injuries at all. (so like for me Boller is gone FOREVER)

I did a colts franchise:
1st year, 15th week, got season ending injury (god the backups suck i almost lost the super bowl)
2nd year, preseason hurt arm for 3 weeks.

this is weird...

I tried to play the first regular season game once with their back-up, it was against the Ravens. I started out good with him going like 16/18 in the first half, and had a 24 point league, but the stupid catch-up EA AI caught up with me, I finished 18/35 with 6 INTS, and I quit at the 2 minute warning.

My plays superstar mode with the Rams on hte default All Pro settings. He was playing against the Bears' and he hit sticked QB Rex Grossman. Couple of plays later, they said he was out for the game. When the game was finished and he checked the league's injury list, it showed that he had a career ending injury and will be forced to retire.

Looks like the game is predicting Grossman's future since he might be out for this season too.

Injuries and career enders are common in real life....I didn't know there was a slider to fix this, but thats something I'm going to fix later....I always used the "OUCH!" madden card.

I noticed two other issues the other day.

I was playing against Buffalo and they had their PUNTER as an offensive lineman. Yes, Buffalo had people injured, but come on....at least put a DL in there or put someone on IR (there was a season ending injury) and get a new OL. PRetty shitty...Shaun Rogers dominated that punter ;)

Also, I went to return a punt that was going into the endzone (I had like a 30 yeard cushion, so that is why i went to field it). Anyways, I fumbled it....went to pick it up (the ball is still in the endzone) and they called a SAFETY on me. crazy

Career enders... no, they're not. Especially when it's a player in his 20's.

You should be happy... unless Boller wasn't on your team.

I thought if you put a player on IR it freed a roster spot for you. Apparently not in Madden. I wanted to get an extra player, so I placed my one guy on IR (was a 7 week injury, and only 1 week left until playoffs), however, I could not add anyone.....that sucked.

yeah there are rarely career enders...

...sadly after 10+ years guys die from all of the work and such that football does to ya.

Actually yes they are. Isn't the average NFL career something like 7 years. Many guys retire with injuries and it isn't highly publicized.

As for more glitches, does anyone else notice on punt returns your guys don't like to block and let the CPU run past them?

Yeah, I set the CPU PUNT DISTANCE all the way up in the sliders. I usually use a punt block too, then audible to a return. It sorta fixed the problem
