Madden 09 League-Congratulations Soodmeg!

If we do trades, we should first post the deal up in this thread and then see if anyone is against the deal. Then we can do a majority rules vote on it if there is an issue.

My vote goes to default teams and no trades.
 
The recent trades of Jason Taylor and Jeremy Shockey probably won't be reflected in the rosters at launch. I'm assuming that it will be similar to NHL 08 in that we will have to update the rosters for online play. So some people will get free trades.

I'd so take the Falcons.. BUT ARGH I'm still iffy on buying the game.

I haven't been a big fan of Madden games for several years. But doing an online league with 31 other people should make it fun.
 
LOL at 43 votes! MoonKnight give me Asante Samuel for Fred Taylor and my first and second round pick.

I would of course need you to throw in a crappy RB

Yeah that's a good idea. Like in fantasy leagues. A veto vote by every team in the league to weed out trades that are too unrealistic.

For instance me trading Brady Quinn would more then likely be supported but if I were to offer a trade to someone including Joe Thomas it would be vetoed since Savage isn't letting go of JT for the next 15 years.

I'll give you Samuel, Westbrook, Mcnabb and 1st round pick, for Drew-Jones, Garrard, and Mathis
 
Lets keep the trade chatter to PM's, you can post up your trade block and what you are looking for but stuff like what is above me is just going to clutter up the thread.

I'm not sure about the content of the disc. All I know is that it has the Madden demo on it and it seems like an ok deal for someone who can't wait a week for the free demo.
 
I just found this out as well. The demo on the NFL dvd is from an early April demo. The demo coming out on Friday is supposed to be a more recent demo.
 
I made a post over at the Miami Dolphins message board that I visit to see if anyone wanted the Falcons in the league since no CAGs seem interested atm. Who knows, it may get us some new CAGs here as well. :)
 
Krams, if your sure, I'll give you the falcons and open up the Chargers.
However, I'm sure that before August 12th we'll have somebody on Atlanta.

By the end of the poll, it looks like we are going to have Current Rosters!

I'm hoping this league is a success. Other Madden leagues have failed BADLY (and I mean badly) but the fact that there is a Online League setup should make this worlds easier to set up. Flex schedules make it a breeze as well.

I'm thinking for the following for trades:
1) According to EA, only 1-for-1 trades can be done (thats not my choice)
2) For all trades, they should be posted here in this thread and if there are 2 (number can be debated) veto votes for the trade, it will be cancelled. If not, the trade will go through.
3) I'll do my best to keep all trades in the OP as they happen.

Discussions for trade rules/other rules/other stuff, commence!

And please keep all trade ideas via PMs or e-mail and out of this thread, just to keep this thread cluttered. Just post here when you have an official agreement between 2 people.

Majority makes sense though...
 
People are busy, people can't check this forum all the time... 17 is too much, especially when there's no real schedule... I think trading could be disastrous without some sort of schedule.
 
I'd still like to be an alternate, so if a spot ever opens up let me know.

Also, for anyone that didn't get in or may be interested in another league contact me through PM or something. I'd definitely like to get something going with some of my Friends List buddies/dependable players (like 8-12 players), but I want to wait and start a little later on, once a few roster updates are out. I'd even like to get a prize for it.

Hey we got through one two years ago, it only took us until March. ;) The amount of players is going to be the biggest problem. I've found that more than 12 gets to be a pain. With the size of this league, you shouldn't be afraid to drop players and potentially recreate the league with a shorter schedule to keep things moving. It might make a mess of a few team's records, but more than likely the playoffs teams are going to be the players who stick with the game anyway. Though flex scheduling (which I haven't really looked into) makes it seem like you can just drop people if they don't play and find suitable replacements.

I'm not sure. But I THINK it means 1 player for 1 player. Hopefully there will be more details later.

I think if there was a "Win an online league" achievement, this league would have no problem making it through the whole way. There is one secret achievement, and I hope thats it. We'll see...

I played a game of 08 again tonight and it was just absolutely atrocious. One of the reasons I didn't make it through a season this year.

I'm just not a fan of Tom Hammond though. He just makes me think so much of Notre Dame football, so hearing him in a pro game just doesn't jive with me. Plus he sounds very robotic in his delivery. The transitions don't seem to come off so smooth and the play-by-play still sounds generic. Maybe there's more color commentary to liven things up.

I'd love it if EA could bring on board the Dan Stevens and Peter O'Keefe talent from 2K. Or better yet, bring in Pat Summerall for color and find someone who's not so dull with the play-by-play.
 
Are we still chiming in on trading? In hopes of keeping the league running it is probably best to keept it simple and leave teams as is with roster updates. I hope the league doesn't fall through as I am looking to defend the NY Giants Super Bowl Championship :)

I'm not strictly looking for defensive backs for Brady Quinn. If your in need of a QB, PM me and I'll tell you if anyone from your team interests me.
 
I really like the demo. It sucks that you can only play one drive, but the game feels and looks great. It retains the classic Madden gameplay, but with several little touches that make things that much more enjoyable. The presentation has been redone, and the stadiums look and feel alive, like you're really at the event. This already looks leagues better (pun intended) than the already pretty good NCAA 09.
 
There are many games that people try and set up leagues/tournaments for, few succeed. This will be one of the many that does not.

I thought the demo was lackluster. Suprised it was 1.1GB and a bit stripped down. No announcers and only the Madden Moment to play.

Also, I did NOT like the way you pick plays. NCAA perfected this with the option of hitting 4 different buttons rather than the traditional point and select.
 
I guess that I need to work on my touch with the passes or those Pats DBs are just beefed up. I get picked off on like 80% of my passes.

Also, nice to see that Smart Routes player audibles are back. Always drove me nuts how I couldn't get a receiver to run past the 1st down marker the past few games.
 
after everything that I've been reading about how this game might suck I'm interested to see if everyone who signed up for this league will be buying day 1. I pry will because I'm an idiot, not like this league was going to work anyway. We are having a hard enough time getting 10 people to play over on NCAA
