I'm actually surprisingly calm when I play madden. At most I'll drop an f bomb when I do something stupid (throw an obvious pic or fumble) or get screwed by the CPU. Although I seem to complain a lot more when I am with someone or talking online (I'm sure it annoys them).
I can't play Friday, so what are we going to do here?
We'll sim it if that's okay with you.

Remaining Games:

Bengals-Texans (Midnight EST)
Steelers-49ers
Rams-Eagles (Sim)
Bucs-Packers (This morning)
Bills-Cowboys (CPU or sim)

Sounds like Steelers-49ers is the one we're still waiting to hear from, and Bengals-Texans will be the last game (no way you guys can play earlier?)
I'm back! Could someone please PM me the league info to join up again? :p
Good to have you back superstar, hope all is well.

Thanks. Hope everyone had a great Christmas\New Years!

You should actually have an invite back if you check, but I'll PM you the info just in case.
Anybody around for a game? Jus got outta work bored as shit...
Damn out of work at 10am, I'm assuming you work nights?

I'll be lucky if I get out of here by 5 today. Shit tends to hit the fan on Friday at 4.

I work on a fishing boat...leave the dock at 430am back on land at the latest like noon depending on how many fish we catch. Its nice but my body shuts down around 830-9pm. That's why night games are no good for me, I'm 0-2 at night in this league. I tear shit up in the mornings. Those who have played me before noon have gotten spanked pretty good. So there's ur key to beat me...

Ahh, the wife limits me to after 9 on most cases. Truthfully I'm usually at work until 6, eat at 7 and then work on the house until 9 anyway so she isn't really limiting me persay.

A fishing boat, huh. IVe never made it to either coast, I would assume this must be a pretty interesting job.

Yea its certainly interesting. It can be the best job in the world at times, other times it can be the worst. No fish no fun.

To me, the hardest part of this game, especially in this league, is stopping the run. If u play someone who knows how to create holes by good playcalling, it takes crazy focus. When I get tired that crazy focus falls asleep first.

Stopping the run can be a bitch, though I've been pretty successful stopping it. The only exception to that is Cru. Otherwise I haven't allowed more than 75ish yards in any game.

That's actually one area I've improved on a lot between seasons. Last season I was 27th against the run (allowing 6.3 ypc), this year I'm 4th (allowing 4.6 ypc). Although at the same time my pass defense has declined, I had the best pass defense in the league last season by a ridiculous margin (something like 30 yards per game), but now I'm only middle of the pack in that area. So who knows.

My philosophy has always been to allow people to air it out if they want to and I will just eat the clock with the run game. It normally works, but I've tried to pass more this year (which has equalled more losses) so it hasn't been as effective. I'm going to get back to what I know and hopefully it equals a super bowl someday.

Of the top 10 passing offenses in the league, only two are likely playoff bound: Detroit (#1) and Baltimore (#9)

Of the top 10 rushing offenses in the league, only two aren't: Oakland (#2), and whoever loses the AFC East between Miami (#6) and New England (#4).

I don't think that's a coincidence. Granted, a lot of that has to do with teams being ahead and able to run more, but in general I think a run-first philosophy is the key to success in this league.

That makes me feel better about pounding the rock. Ray Rice is going to have about the same amount of attempts running but his average has gone down a bit. I'm not sure if Run defenses have improved or if the different teams I'm playing have better run defenses.

Look for Rice and crew to be featured more if I can wiggle my way into the playoffs.

Yea cuz u limit turnovers. If you throw the ball 30-40 times ur gonna throw at least one INT, even if its a bullshit pick.

stafford is goin for 60 tds and 5000 yrds passing.... also had a rb rush for 1000 yards its a miracle..... also interesting fact jason witten has more the double the receptions then calvin johnson like 143 I think and calvin has 500 less yards then him.... aka beast..... may be on the trading block

looks like the AFC is all but set. Watch out for the Seahawks though, I plan on winning out. I've also become the worlds biggest Jags fan :)

AFC East is still up for grabs. If the Dolphins beat me next week, they're in control. He already beat me in Week 1, and beat the Jets twice, so fero seems to be saving his best for the big games. If they win and lose next week to the Raiders though, I'd still probably win the division at 9-7, meaning the Dolphins would have gone 6-0 in the division and lost it anyway.

Indeed, the Falcons may serve as your ticket in. Even if I beat the Packers, that won't necessarily guarantee the Seahawks a spot because they would then have equal records. I'd have to go over the tiebreak and see who would come out ahead there.

A Falcons loss against the Jags or Panthers would be devastating.

Unfortunately no, I'm working late tonight.

Me and Bseti talked briefly about this last night but it is something I want to get out there and organized as soon as possible.

Assuming that the next season in this league will be the last for Madden 12.

We are starting a Fantasy Draft league which will begin sometime soon after the conclusion of this leagues third season.

I wanted to get the word out there now so that in the coming months we can attempt to get 32 players, and try and get a draft date way ahead of time so people can plan for it.

I know some are jaded by the old Fantasy League's lack of success, but it had this league to contend with. I don't plan on stopping my Madden play at the end of the next season, and damn me if i ever go back to just playing ranked matches. Leagues are way to fun.

So this is an open invitation to anyone in this league, who feels the same way about the league ending at season 3, and wants to continue on in a fun filled fantasy league during Football's offseason.

I have yet to make a thread, but I will, at lunch today.

Any thoughts?

I know the Panthers want to go out on a high more and the Jags are getting better, hopefully one of them can stop Turner.

The only way that the 3rd season is our last is if interest has waned league-wide. If that's the case, then there definitely isn't going to be enough interest for a full new league. The secondary leagues have always died before the main one.

I'm not saying it's a bad idea, but if you want to do it, I'd start it now, not two months from now.

Idk how many more seasons the Colts have under manning after the 3rd season, i am down to start another league, it is a long wait till august.

We don't need any certain number of people we can make it work with whatever...we just need players who really want to keep playin madden throughout the spring

i've said it before...and i'm going to say it again for the new guys here.

Playing a 2nd League and/or 3rd league and/or Subbing for 2 and 3 teams for an entire season kills your motivation for playing madden if you're not a very good player.

I've been a constant sub throughout the 3 years i've played with the cheapassgamer group here.... and for a couple of seasons i basically played 2 teams for entire seasons.

This may sound like alot of fun for some of you... but i'm not that good at madden. I'm man enough to admit that.

Considering we advance every 2-3 days... Last season (and when i was subbing for venom early this year...) i was taking 6-9 losses a week(including fantasy league, my games, and venoms games). This is downright disheartening, even though I tried to get better.

Instead....i can take 3 losses a week...and maybe 1 win out of those 3 which allows me to really refine what I do wrong and where to fix it.

I will not be joining a 2nd league....and definitely not a fantasy league( teams get completely unfair in fantasy league maddens in my opinion)

my two cents!

Love this league, however!

Truth be told, now a days with work, school, and life...i really only buy madden for this league....when i was younger my cousin and i used to play it for hours on end...but he's moved away...and now i'm left with you guys! lol.

with manning getting old maybe u should draft a QB this year or make a trade for schaub????????? i hear he could be on the market from a realiable source

I'll probably not be joining a 2nd league either. Managing this one is enough work for me, and as Spring gets into gear I play on three softball teams (managing one of them) so I have a LOT less Madden time. I wish you guys luck though if you want to do it.

I'm still interested in doing more tournaments, I think we should be trying that more now that the holidays are over.

I'll say this: Tanabeo is a great deal better than his record would indicate. That, and I hate mornings. I came back and pulled off the winning FG as time expired, thankfully, to increase Green Bay's winning streak to 5 games, making the Packers 10-4 on the season, topping their win total from last season.

Green Bay Packers 13, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 10

With my first round pick I'm drafting the kicker with the most power, and can I just trade in my other ones for AI that does their job right.

I'm sure you can have your pick of the other 31 kickers in the league if your first round pick is on the table. Not that we'd ever approve that trade. ;)

Just a quick question would you have been mad if I went for it on that 4th and inches?

I want one with 99 power :)

It looked like that field goal you kicked went in before the officials signaled that it bounced off the crossbar. Is that what you're referring to?

You stuffed my run game almost completely and held my offense in check for most of the game while yours drove down the field with ease, only stopping when Vince Young kept fumbling when he'd run it. Your offense completed something like 7 of their first 8 3rd down conversions, while I only converted one 3rd down the entire game.

EDIT: I might have gotten mad if you went for it on 4th and inches. Just depends on the result. ;)

its whatever....it may jus be me n LV n that'd be fine, just an open invite to anyone interested. maybe we will start sooner, we'll see what kind of feedback we get
