lions niners today or tomm....
One of several huge games this week between division leaders. None more huge than Ravens-Pats in the battle of the last two AFC unbeatens. Should be an excellent week.
Gg mattny! I don't understand this one play he has by havinjg everyone close to the line an the de runs free every fucking time!
You played a great game, I had a lot of breaks. Actually happened consistently with two different blitz calls. It has never been that effective before, I was surprised. But I still mixed it up with different man and zone coverages. I knew I had to try to keep you guessing with that passing game. Can't believe I held Kolb down to 3 for 22.

My passing game almost cost me it though. I can't believe some of the decisions I made. My running game showed up big for once though and saved my ass.

NYG - 21
NO - 16

Again, great game ballhawk - it could have gone either way and I was just lucky enough to win.
Those are last week's power rankings. XFN seems to be having an issue with those (and a few other things).
i did .manual. power rankings by the leaguewide standings this week.
Stupid bye week, the Cardinals are anxious to get out and lose another one!
I can't wait to play my game. I was just looking at my PA...thanks BV. ya got more than 50% of them.

Happy to help. :D

Hopefully I rediscover that offensive form in my next few games. I haven't been lighting the world on fire on offense these last few.

yea, when we played i had the wrong def. playbook going, it was a tough transitiion to a 3-4 instead of my comfortable 4-3....shit went awful from the get-go in that nightmare of a game for me.
I haven't been lighting the world on fire on offense these last few.
Story of my season, though I may have be coming out of that funk. Definitely not used to losing this often.

My defense has sustained me the last few weeks, but I'm going to need a full 60 minutes on both sides of the ball to take down MA's Ravens tonight.

Yeah. I have had pretty good success against the Ravens, definitely takes both sides to beat him.

Feel free to PM me any tips. ;)

Believe it or not, this is actually the first time MA and I will be facing each other this year with our own teams (I subbed against him as the Colts in season 1 and eeked out a come-from-behind overtime win).

Rams vs. Seahwaks tonight at 11:15? I've got to win out to improve this season....hahaha not looking likely with all of the AFC East and some other tough guys on my schedule.

Yea man, I've got a brutal schedule as well. If I finish over .500 it'll be a miracle.

Pats-Ravens players are so amped up to go that we're kicking off 5 hours early. Should be a fun one, I just hope the good version of my offense shows.

Hopefully we've got several more seasons left in us after this one!

Gg man...tough D, but those fumbles made things impossible to get anything going on offense. My D played pretty good but those fumbles (and that desperation INT near the end) gave you some pretty good field position. Mini-rant time: does anyone notice how there is absolutely ZERO downside to going for the strip in this Madden?? In Madden '11, if you went for the strip there was a pretty good chance the ball-carrier would break the tackle, so you would have to weigh the risks of going for the strip. This Madden...even if you don't successfully strip the ball, you make the tackle anyways so there is nothing stopping people from stripping on EVERY tackle. Obviously players slow down if you hold LB to try to strip a player running in the open field, but on runs up the middle or on passes in traffic, stripping just really has zero downside. And judging from this game...people are bound to cause a fumble on at least half the strips. I know it was in the rain, but still...a lot of Madden games are played in the rain. Even on my ONLY strip attempt of the game, Jimmy Smith stripped the ball from the receiver but it fell out of bounds. I think BV was 2 for 3 on user strips...I just remember one instance when the strip animation happened but my HB held onto the ball. I dunno...I never noticed how detrimental strips can be until this game so that's why I never brought it up before. BV played a great game, but I think the strips are what really killed me.
Is this the year BV finally puts it all together?
We'll see. I'm not counting any chickens yet, you all know I'm perfectly capable of reeling off 3 ugly losses in a row with the best of 'em. :D

This win definitely could be big for playoff seeding if I should make it, but I've got a pretty daunting schedule the rest of the way.

I notice it. Zurezo beat me last year the exact same way, so I know it can be frustrating. I actually did it more than usual in this game because the opportunities were there for it. Especially in games like this with the rain, it's always something I'm thinking about on both offense and defense. Why do you think I gave 7 carries to Green-Ellis even though he continued to do nothing with them? I also hug the protect bumper a lot on pass plays, since receivers tend to have a much lower carry rating. I even used Welker on punts in this one for his sure hands (though he didn't actually get a return).

Still, 2 for 3 over the course of the game isn't all that bad. Keep in mind 2 of those fumbles were by Flacco.

But yeah, I definitely commiserate since fumbles always are far more random than interceptions. Though I think the bigger key in this game was that I was able to protect the ball myself.

New England Patriots 20 - Baltimore Ravens 2

In the battle of the last two AFC unbeatens, the Patriot defense made a statement in the blinding rainstorm in Foxborough (duh), turning over the Ravens 4 times and generally being up in Joe Flacco's business all afternoon. The Patriots offense did just enough to put up some points, and managed to avoid mistakes which helped keep the pressure on the Ravens all game. After a scoreless first quarter in which both Ds were great (including a HUGE sack by Cameron Wake on the opening drive to push the Ravens out of FG range), the Patriots finally broke through in the 2nd when Cobie Ross - who'd been pretty well contained to that point - broke through for a beautiful 36 yard scamper. After a Ravens fumble near the end of the half, the Patriots were able to convert it into a FG as time expired to give the Pats the 10-0 lead at halftime. The Pats were able to make it 17-0 late in the 3rd quarter on another Ross TD. The Ravens finally broke through on a long FG, but the Patriots answered right back to keep it a 3-score game. The Ravens fumbled again on their final drive of the game to seal it for the Pats.

Tom Brady was 9 of 11 for 90 yards, 0 TDs and 0 INTs as he played the game manager role yet again.

Joe Flacco was 11 of 19 for 125 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT. He was also strip sacked twice (the Ravens fell on one).

Cobie Ross carried 19 times for 102 yards and 2 TDs, though he ceded 7 carries to BJGE in the rain.

Shakim Simmons carried 9 times for 39 yards. He (like most Ravens it seems) had a costly fumble.

Gronk was the leading receiver for the Pats with 6 catches for 44 yards. He was also injured late (not his ankle), but will not miss any additional time. Roddy White did have one beauty for 27 yards down the right sideline.

Jamie Brooks caught 4 balls for 61 yards (not bad considering I doubled him most of the day) to lead the Ravens.

Cameron Wake had his biggest day yet as a Patriot, getting 2 sacks, forcing a fumble and recovering one. Vince Wilfork had a strip sack of his own, while turnover machine Rahim Moore stripped one as well. Another former Dolphin, Jimmy Wilson, had a big pick of Flacco in Ravens territory. They held the Ravens to 0-4 on 3rd downs.

The Ravens on D bottled up the Patriots running game decently aside from the two TD runs, and held the Pats to 2-9 on 3rd down.

gg again MA! As I said above, the 4-0 turnover margin is always going to make these games look more lopsided than they are. This would have obviously been a far closer game had a few of those fumbles not occurred or if they'd bounced differently.

Feels great to be 7-0, but I'm not about to get too sure of myself. I've squeaked out a few (Jets especially) and had a couple others in which I won but didn't play well. My D has definitely been a nice constant so far this season, so hopefully that keeps up. I came into the game allowing the lowest points per game and actually lowered it, so my D seems to be getting back to season 1 levels, which is very good.

Aiming for 10-6 with this squad. As long as I make the playoffs, I'll be hyped for another run at the ring. Definitely need to retool in the draft though.

I brought up the 2 for 3 to show how effective it is (66.6666666666666666666666666666666666666666666667% of the time it worked). And yeah Flacco had 2 sack/fumbles, I didn't count those...just counting the strips (I had 4 fumbles total, 3 lost...1 by my 95 carry HB :/ and 1 by my TE Brooks).

It definitely set the tone of the game, though perhaps I can say something for the sheer number of rain games I play preparing me for said conditions, lol. I don't mind strips though, as long as someone doesn't go for it on every single play (which obviously I don't). It's part of the game. I certainly agree with you that it's probably too effective relative to the pretty minimal downside of attempting it though.

Even if you think you'll lose to both me (which I don't) and ballhawk, I have a hard time envisioning you losing four more games this season. Doesn't mean I won't root for it though. :D
Definitely need to retool in the draft though.
From the guy who said this less than two months ago:
I don't have time to babysit rookies.
Yes, I clearly have instant recall of everything ever said in this thread. :D
