Zurezo just e-mailed me saying he injured himself playing flag football and asking to postpone.. The earliest I could play tomorrow would be 6:00PM EST, which isn't really ideal for anybody.

I asked if he can power through. I was really hoping the Championship Games would be played tonight as well.
What kind of injury are we talking here?
"Ankle the size of a beach ball."

I believe that may be a touch of hyperbole. :D

I'm waiting to hear back from him.

Meh, power through that. If the hands aren't mangled, he's good to go! Definitely want to advance to the Superbowl tonight.

I want to play right now. I came home earlier than I would have otherwise expressly to play the game.

I can't exactly force him to play though, and he's not responded since initially e-mailing me about 20 minutes ago (which I responded to right away).

Well, that's pretty lame.

While we're at it, awards delayed until tomorrow. They're almost done, just need to work on a few errors, but I have company over so I won't have time to put them up tonight since there are people on my computer.

If we somehow manage to advance tonight though, I'll be around to play.

I'm not really sure what to do here. I mean, if the guy's injured he's injured, but I don't really see why he can't play. I played several games with an injury, and that was to my thumb!

I mean, obviously extenuating circumstances arise from time to time, but it's not like Zurezo has been a bastion of reliability to begin with.

sounds pretty weak to me. ive had to worse things with worse injuries than play madden.
25 mile ruck feet bleeding
7 mile run with bones rubbing in my spine
but i guess thats why they call it army strong
Well that's better than nothing! Still planning on shipping out?
eventually... gotta wait til the base Chief Medical Officer clears me
I'll take over the Giants
Awesome! I'll send you the league info, make sure to let ubernes and I know if you have any questions on the rules, etc.

I been playing in the JV league which uses the same rules I believe. Only difference is this one allows more trades I think. Thanks for having me, and I'll go check out my team in a little while.

Pretty sure QB Sneaks are still banned in here also.
Can't say I didn't expect this.
Which part? You knew Zurezo would hurt his ankle?

I just e-mailed him again reiterating that it would really be best to play tonight. That's really all I can do at the moment.

Good to see we were able to fill in most of the holes quickly. Obviously I would like to be full strength, but if we're just short on the Vikings and maybe Steelers going into Season 4 I would consider that a success still. Definitely our best year of Madden so far.

Zurezo finally got back to me: "Shit, I mean if you guys want to move along and you can play the comp than thats ok by me. I don't want you guys to be held back by me. Its ok and up to you"

I know we don't want to wait. I'm also not eager to play another Steelers sub since I lost to one in the playoffs last year. A free win for me isn't the fairest outcome either though. Thoughts?
what are the target dates for the draft?
Likely Sunday evening. I can't see us squeezing it in before Friday with the way we are working now. We need a couple days at least for offseason.

If we aren't drafting til Sunday then I don't see a huge rush. I think we missed the window for a Thursday draft, to be honest. If Zurezo is going to be back next season and commit himself to being more active then I would definitely prefer to wait. However, if he's gone after this then I'm a bit indifferent.

He says he hasn't made up his mind, but that he's going to try to play next season. He doesn't seem to care one way or another about these playoffs though.

I'd prefer to play tonight one way or another, because I really don't want to be in a situation where I could potentially need to play 3 games tomorrow if we do try to finish. It just sucks since I planned my whole day around being here for this game.
Who's subbing? And what happens if you lose?
I was gonna ask LV since I know he's around and he had a decent record. If I lose I lose. Up to the league then if Zurezo steps back in or if we continue with a sub.

Since it's a half hour later now I did e-mail Zurezo again to see if he's any less high on pain meds. I've waited an hour and a half for this game now though, so if I end up waiting until tomorrow at this point I'm going to be cranky all day, lol.

If you win, are you able to play tonight?
If you win, are you able to play tonight?
I want to say no since it's already so late, though if I do it kind of makes me wonder what the point of playing this first one tonight is at all - other than that I've already waited 1.5 hours to do so.
I am free if necessary, lol.
That'd be fine with me. That way there's no conspiratorial "LV let his brother win" if I prevail (though anyone familiar with how brothers work would never suspect that ).

Pats prevail over the Steelers 27-14. Steelers got the passing game going late after a bevy of early turnovers, but the Patriots had amassed too large a lead and were able able to win on the back of Green-Ellis, who came up huge in the snow when Cobie Ross was largely ineffective all day.

gg Kaster! Thanks for stepping in!

Doom, as Kaster can attest this game was pretty laggy - given our lag history, I suggest we hold off until tomorrow.
Having an accurate quarterback was so nice. Mmmm accuracy.
Yeah. Just about zero chance Tebow makes either of those touchdown throws. You played well, if it weren't for the turnovers it would've been a much closer game.

I always abandon the run too early because I get behind. If I could build a lead and balance the offense, I think I'd be much more competitive in the league.

New England Patriots 27 - Pittsburgh Steelers 14

Not gonna do the full game summary since I'm exhausted, but the Patriots jumped out to a 20-0 halftime lead behind Brady passes to Ross (his first career receiving TD I believe nope, he had 2 his rookie year) and Julius Thomas. Despite some tough conditions (snow, wind, and lag) Gostkowski managed to go 2 of 2 on field goals (he hasn't missed this year), though one clanged off both the post AND the cross-bar before going in. The Pats also picked Big Ben twice in the first and recovered a fumble.

The Steelers recovered a surprise onside kick to start the 2nd half and then got the passing game going with a beautiful TD strike to Brown. Green-Ellis responded with a 56 yard TD run before the Steelers answered back on a 71 yard catch and run by Taylor. However, the Pats got the ball back with just over 7 minutes to play and didn't give it back, converting numerous 3rd downs (and even one 4th) in running out the clock.

Brady was 10 of 15 for 153 yards, 2 TDs and 0 INTs.

Roethlisberger was 5 of 11 for 133 yards, 2 TDs and 2 INTs. He also fumbled on a scramble.

Cobie Ross had a largely ineffective 16 carries for 54 yards, with a long of 11. He did take a screen pass in for a TD though. Green-Ellis was magnificent in picking up the slack though, carrying 9 times for 93 yards and a score.

Mendenhall carried 8 times for 38 yards.

Julius Thomas was the leading receiver with 2 catches for 56 yards (one a TD and one a crucial 3rd down conversion late). Cobie Ross had the other TD on a screen - I almost never throw to my backs, so it's nice to occasionally bust one out as a surprise. It worked nicely.

Antonio Brown and Jalston Taylor had the TDs for Pitt.

The Pats D got INTs from Devin McCourty and Derron Charles. McCourty also forced a fumble by Big Ben, which Cameron Wake recovered.

gg again Kaster! I always love snow games.

Looking forward to the matchup with Doom, hopefully I bring my A game against him. :D

I think the turnovers were your bigger problem, you moved the ball well once you stopped giving it to me. :D

The first INT was kind of ill-advised since you basically just chucked it up, but the second one your receiver fell down on the play, can't really blame yourself for that. And obviously you should have slid with Big Ben on that scramble. ;)

Yeah, I have a turnover problem. I'm trying to go cold turkey but it's just not happening :D

I was pretty happy with how I bottled up Ross, at least, haha.

For sure. Usually even when someone's shutting him down he'll get free for a long one or two, but you kept him in check all day. He's got a wide arsenal of running plays I use with him: You saw pretty much all of 'em, and stopped 'em all.

Just one of those days I ended up being more effective with Green-Ellis. I probably should have gone to him earlier.
