Videos of Each Characters' Specific Dunk

Time to start the hype wagon for this game...

Well, out of almost all the mario sports games, this is the only one that has me very interested. I normally don't play sports titles, but always enjoyed off the wall basketeball titles such as NBA Street and NBA Jam (basicly over the top type of stuff).

So far Square seems to be proving itself very well with how the game is going. I bet we'll here more of this as the month goes on.

Yeah, looks pretty good. I hope the system is good.

Also, does anyone know if there will be a Mario Tennis or Soccer for DS?
[I just played a little Mario Strikers and it looked pretty cool.]
the first basket ball game without a black guy on the cover. :D
I'm pretty interested to see how this plays though, and who the characters from the square games will be. Also wikipedia says yes for online and we have a septemer 11th release date

Well there you have it, the KKK endorses the game as well!

I've got $5 down at EB for it, though I will hope GR keeps getting DS games in so I can save my EB credit for the Wii launch bonanza.
Nah man, black and asian here.
God bless you.

There was nothing racist about what you said regardless of the color of your skin, but God bless you nonetheless for putting that moron in his place.

I just don't think the touch screen gameplay will work... plus, its Square-Enix making a basketball game. WTF?
It looks fun, but how long will that last with it being only 3 on 3?
NOTE: Take time to play NBA Street to get an idea... it plays pretty damn good.

same reasons I'm thinking it wouldn't work. Now if they got the Tecmo basketball people to make it, that would of been a good game for sure.
Seriously though, why doesn't Nintendo get 2K or EA's teams to try to make a mario version of a basketball or American football game?

Didn't NBA Street 3 let you play as Mario and others?

I'm glad SE is starting to expand, if only a little bit. Nintendo has loaned out its franchises before for great results... who knew Sega would make a great F-Zero game, for instance.

Actually, Namco already did an impressive F-Zero title...

Rolento's right, NBA Street is a really, really fun game.

it was a partnership between namco, sega, and nintendo. Ever since namco used the networking abilities of Virtua Fighter 4 in their Tekken games, Sega and Namco have become very good buddies.
While they do cooperate and license technologies to each other, I don't think it necessarily means Namco made F-Zero in any way. Amusement Vision (a Sega in-house developer) is credited with developing F-Zero AX/GX. If there is a true partnership in development, both Sega and Namco would receive credit, such as in Vampire Night. Namco does not which is why they aren't mentioned on the official websites (English or Japanese). If they are mentioned in game, it's only because of licensed technology.

 can't anyone accept genrealized info? I was right, but not right? whatever. I understand :)

It isn't generalized. You said they "did" the game. They didn't. It's like saying iD Software made Half-Life 1 because it ran on the Quake 2 engine.
if its anything like strikers then im sure ill enjoy it.
QFT - I was totally surprised by how fun Strikers was and am waiting for the Wii so I can pick up a copy myself.

again, like I said, generalized, but I don't want to get into a heated discussion.

So far the game looks interesting... it seems there's bosses as well like a pirahna plant.

Mildly interested. I'm hoping there's nothing that requires the touch screen...something tells me they could have a good basketball game in the works, but then cut the legs off of it by including free throw and super-move mechanics that involve the touchpad.
again, like I said, generalized
It's ok to be wrong sometimes. Maybe you should just say "Ok, I was wrong."

I'll say I was wrong if you take it in terms of specififcs, and I was right if you took it as a generalaization. At least accept both ends of it.

You dribble using the touch screen, actually. I don't recall how the shooting works.

Slide the stylus towards the basket... I'm curiouse at how well it will work.

According to IGN's latest preview, you pass with a quick slide of the stylus... you also shoot in the same way. When defending, an upward slash will make you jump and a downward one will make you try to steal the ball. You do NOT have to tap to dribble, but you can tap to move in certain ways (this part was semi-unclear). It really sounds intriguing and I can imagine this game being very fun, but I think I'll have to wait for the reviews to see if the reality matches my imagination...
