May 30th is less than a few weeks away, and with one of the Wii U's biggest game of the year coming out I thought I'd create a Google Document where everybody getting Mario Kart 8 can add in their Nintendo Network ID. Using Google Documents is pretty simple, and once you add your info everybody that clicks on the link is able to see your NNID. Sending a PM through CAG telling somebody you added them through the Document is also great!

Once May 30th come around I'm hoping we can all get together one given day in the week and all play together as a community. I know most of us will be playing the game non-stop from launch (including me). I know some will be playing with other CAGs, but if we can all get together on a day that works best for everybody then that would be great!

Mario Talk

If at all possible, I would like to keep the main talk in the thread mainly about Mario Kart 8 & adding others via NNID. It'd be pretty cool to share some fun stories that other players experienced while playing Mario Kart.

Room for Improvement

I want this thread to be one where anybody can come around & talk about Mario Kart 8 with some other CAGs. This is the first thread that I created in a while, so if anybody has any ideas about what I can do to improve it with some game ideas, etc. that'd be much appreciated.

Since we can upload portions of races to YouTube, it might be neat to post up random things that happen during CAG races or individual races anyone experiences as well.

Yeah that'll be great. I think it'll just be nice to see a lot of CAGs get together & play MK8. I missed out on the online feature of MKWii and that sucked lol. So hopefully this time it's a much better experience!

Been playing Mario Kart since the days where you had to send in a Polaroid to Nintendo Power to get listed for the best times. Can't wait for 8 and I need some more CAG friends with Nintendo consoles. NNID is stillshadow and I will add it to the doc now!
 
Signed me up for the Mario Kart 8 CAG Extravaganza. Cannot wait for the game to be out. Missing Mario Kart for awhile now. But the wait is almost over.

 
I'm going to, just need to turn on the wii u later and verify my id :)

Although I'm not sure if I'll buy it day one, or a little later yet :0
 
Adding my name to the doc as well. I played the original when it came out in 1992 with my sister on a daily basis for 6 months. I think, excluding Super Circuit, I've bought every MK on release date.

Definitely looking forward to racing against other CAGs.

Added my info.  Really looking forward to MK8!  The WIi U may not have a huge amount of games, but the 1st party ones have all been outstanding.

I haven't played a Mario Kart game since 1998.  I fully expect to suck at it.

 
I just added myself to the list. Same as CAG name but without the space. Haven't played Wii U in a while but will add or accept you guys next time I get on.

I've tried one and I think it's alright. I couldn't stand the buttons so I'm returning it. They're not sensitive and felt like I had to push pretty hard on them before anything would register. Not sure if it's just the one I got or all of them. I prefer more sensitive buttons. Controller also felt a bit small and playing CoD on it made me feel like my hand was gonna cramp up.

Hmm...not great then. Sounds okay for 20 bucks. I need a couple of controllers and just can't see myself spending 80 bucks for Nintendo branded controllers. I like that it's got the 360 configuration. Since I'm getting 2 I'll be able to compare the two and see if yours was defective.

Yeah. I'm mainly a 360 player so the controller was really appealing to me, especially compared to the Nintendo one which was different and more expensive. My main reason I bought it was for CoD though, not Mario Kart. For Mario Kart, I just ended up buying one of the refurbished Wii Motes from Nintendo for $25 shipped.

I've got 3 Wii Motion Plus controllers. I just prefer traditional controllers.

Mine hasn't been shipped yet either. In the past I preordered some movies for my kid and they didn't ship them until the weekend after the Tuesday release. Don't expect to get your MK8 this weekend. You'll be lucky to get it next weekend. Don't get me wrong, I don't like it but I'm trying to keep your expectation in check. You should have done pickup if you wanted it ASAP.

I got the controllers today. I've set them up and messed around with them a little. The face buttons seem fine to me but the bumpers definitely seem like you have to depress them much more than you'd expect. Aside from that, I think the controllers are fine. I've never had so many controllers for a single system. I thought it was cool that the Motion + controllers worked with it but now it seems a bit silly. 4 WiiMotes, 4 Nunchucks, 1 Wii Classic Controller, 1 Wii Classic Controller Pro, 1 Gamepad, 2 Wii U pro controllers. On top of that I've got the balance board and a couple of plastic racing wheels that I'm keeping in case the kids want to use them. I'm thinking about getting rid of my regular Wii Classic Controller since I have the pro in case I decide to give some Wii games another chance.
