Mario Kart DS
They have it trust me. The problem is that they wont put it out. Selling "strategies". Best Buy is a bunch of BS
the bestbuy website says the game comes out tomorrow, and they are still taking pre orders, im so mad, i wish i had money besides best buy bucks
wow, they had a huge spike in users tonight
Wow, silly me. I thought not enough people had the game yet to find people to play against.

Yeah, I have been trying for about an hour. Oh well, give them a little time to work the bug's out.
How do you add friends? It doesnt mention it in the book?
go to Nintendo WIFC on the main menu. it should give you a selection of "Friend Code". then you pick the first choice, register, and pop in your friends code there.

on a side note, I've been playing this game almost non-stop since I got it mid-day. so much fun :) I am loving the Luigi Mansion and Air Fortress levels right now.

Nintendo didn't anticipate to be so overwhelmed by so many players. The network has been hammered and is hopefully going to resolve itself soon. The good news is that this means there will be plenty of fresh meat, er, opponents online. I could play this at 3am if I wanted to and find someone.
Is the boost same as always? Hit/hold A at a certain spot?
Yeah. I was mashing it at or around the start time, and then right before it, but I found that right after '2' seems to be the boost time. You hold it. It's a touchy, though, because if you do it a bit too soon you'll spin out.
it seems to differ between karts too
Really? The only two karts I've used so far is Dry Bones and Mario, and it was more or less the same on both. i'll have to try it out on others.

ah, thank you.

been trying to figure out how to start boost, but holding it right after the 2 fades seems to work best.

HELP!!!

I have been at this a while and though everything else in my house can see my D-link 614+ by DS does not. I have no security or anything else but my DS cant see it at all.

I kept telling myself not to buy this game, but once I saw it behind the game case at work I couldn't resist. I'm getting ready to open it up and start playing now.

Luigi seems to be the best racer to me. Great Speed, Acceleration, AND Handling. All the things that have to do with actual driving. It helps you maintain the lead despite the people behind you pulling broken item bs

So far I've played Luigi, Yoshi, Toldstool, and Dry Bones. I like Dry Bones the best so far. I'm really digging this game, I wish I could play with some of you. Too bad the nearest hotspot is close to 40 miles from me :(

Man, this game is addicting. The only complaint I have is with point totals for the online play. I finished 4th in the first race of a set after getting bombarded with items near the end. After that race, even if I would have won the next three, the guy who won that race could have come in second the other three races and still won. Other than that, the online is GREAT -- I haven't experienced any lag yet!

Just got the game and while I think it's good there are two problems that Nintendo could of fixed to make it perfect (to me). I think the graphics could of been a bit more refined (like the N64), I realize for the size of the game the graphics are pretty better than most present DS games. Also the sense of speed is not really present for me (the GC version gave you a sense of speed really well) especially on straight aways, but I've only used Wario so I'll try someone faster like Yoshi.

i'm pretty sure wario is faster than yoshi....Although yoshi accelerates faster.
Anybody try going to a McDonalds yet and playing? I wonder if I can just sit in the parking lot and connect :D
Yes, this was confirmed by Snake in the McD's thread. Feel free to leach McD's WiFi all you want!
**Spoiler** (?)
Not sure if that is considered a spoiler or not, but my actual question is - did you just read about that, or did you actually complete all of the races already? If you already beat all those cups, I'm amazed.

Has this happened to anyone else?

When my opponents disconnect, I don't get credited with anything, but when I disconnect, intentionally or not (only done it once intentionally because the lag was so bad, the game said I'd won the race by a good distance and the results screen showed me getting second) I get pegged with a loss. 2 of my 3 losses so far are from games that haven't completed... am I the only one?

I myself haven't (only 1/2 through 150cc Nitro cup), but my friend blew through them all and let me know last night.

Great game. So far I have Dry bones, Waluigi, and Peach unlocked. But I'm running into a problem, I think my hand is going to turn into a deformed hook/claw thing from playing this all time. Small price to pay I suppose for kart goodness.
I just wish this game could somehow use a headset so I could be berated by 11 year olds who I'm MUCH better then (a la Halo 2).
Agreed. Haha...ha...

*shivers*

Anyways, fun so far...wish some of the friend connections would work *ocugh*asianxcore*cough* but overall it's been great.

It's got a built in mic, so its only a matter of time before that happens.

I wish it would work too. It's weird that my DS will connect to other players in my region, but won't connect with people on my friends roster :(

I've played about 5 matches so far, all with either 3-4 people, and haven't experienced any kind of lag at all.

Has anyone noticed how much playing online drains the battery? I charged my DS last night (although not fully), and played some single player since WFC was having problems. Today I connected to WFC to check on my friends list (no actual playing) and then played 2 GPs online and my DS literally powered itself off (luckily after the matches were over). I knew wifi would drain the battery but holy cow!

I'm at my in-laws and I didn't bring the DS charger. What is really sad is that I'm actually thinking about running to the closest EB and buying one so I can play again later today.

On a related note, if I bought an extra DS battery, is there a way to charge the battery without it being in the DS?

No it doesn't use the rumble pack. I've left it plugged in, and it does nothing.

Oh, and I didn't find the battery life that bad. I've only had a couple hours shaved off of what I normally get...
