Mario Kart DS

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned but,

if you follow behind another kart a bunch, you get a boost of speed. you'll see these fuzzy white "burst" lines come from around your characters head.

Just played online for the first time tonight, I have to share a dial-up connection because the school's wireless ports are blocked, but it plays beautifully, even on shared dial-up. Tons of fun :)

One thing I don't like about the grand prix 1st player mode is the fact that once you cross the finish line, everyone finishes at the place they are at. Meaning that if you knock out the guy behind you right before the finish line he will still get second place even if the third place guy was right behind him.

I guess it's not a big deal, but when you don't get 1st in every race, you can count on this to push the second place guy down the standings.

In case this hasn't been pointed out earlier ... when playing on-line, you will not see your opponents powersliding. Specifically, you won't see any colored sparks come from their wheels. It is very likely that your opponents are powersliding ... you just can't see it.
Maybe they're using the snake technique? I just read it on gamefaqs, apparently you powerslide back and forth on straight roads to get lots of speed.
Yeah, I got the crap snaked out of me yesterday during a match. I did a Worldwide since I couldn't get opponents on any other mode, and I was matched up against one other player (his name was in Japanese). His record was like 140/5 or something crazy like that. He played Yoshi in the egg cart (same as me).

Anyway, the first race was Yoshi Falls and I swear to you, after the opening speed boost, he literally got a half track lead on me in 10 seconds. His cart was bouncing all over the track (it looks really strange b/c I couldn't see him powersliding at all). It almost looks like lag, but it was the dreaded snake master.

I noticed after that first match that he selected mostly wide open tracks that allow for a lot of room to snake back and forth.

Needless to say, he stomped me on every race except the last (Baby Park) - and that was because he drove BACKWARDS on that track - the gloating bastard!

I just got my broadband and my USB adapter today, and wow. I can't believe I'm not freezing my butt of playing Mario Kart in McD's parking lot. Not to mention I can download crap in a split second now. ;_; I'm moved to tears. I'll pop on my friend code when I get the chance next.
Oi, I couldn't find your FC in the Sticky Topic. Dunno if that's an issue.
It should be on the first page, under J-Funk I believe.

Anyways, it's 438146-125934.

I bought Mario Kart yesterday but I found out that my Dlink DI-524 is one of the few routers that Nintendo says is incompatible but when I was trying to setup Wi Fi it detected my router and said it accessed it but gave me an error! Is there anyway that I could play online with my current router? I just thought it was funny that my DS detected my router but I can't use it to play online, seems to me if it was incompatible it wouldn't even be able to detect it.

Unfortunately that's not the way it works. The DS will detect any Wifi connection, but won't be able to actually talk to all of them.

Wow...how lucky am I then that some moron in my apt. building has an unencrypted compatible wi-fi network? I decided to buy a 360 controller for emulation instead of the USB adapter...I hope they never put a password on or im screwed...
