Mario & Luigi 2 or Tony Hawk & Brain Age?

So I'm leaving for a two week vacation to Alaska next week, and want to pick up a new DS game to make sure I don't get bored both while flying all the fucking way there and while there.

Use this clues to tell me which game is better:

- I borrowed my friend's copy of Super Star Saga, and loved it, but only got about 40% of the way through. How does M&L2 compare? How many hours of gameplay does M&L2 contain?

-Used to own and absolutely LOVED Tony Hawk 3 - and haven't played a Tony Hawk since then (well, I rented Underground and beat it in a day...yuck). Does Tony Hawk DS have lots of replay / how long does the game take?

-Honestly, I'm not too interested in brain age. But with the $5 off coupon, both Brain Age & Tony Hawk together will be just $35, so I'm game. Plus I love sudoku. But I'm not sure Brain Age is something that would keep me entertained for a long time on long flights.

I need a new DS game...the only game in my collection I'm not very near beating is Advance Wars, and even there I'm more than halfway through (Mission 16). I've got two cups left on 150cc in Mario Kart, gotten almost all of the coins in NSMB, played the living hell out of WarioWare, beaten Castlevania twice, and played craploads of Meteos. I don't want to run out of games during my trip :bouncy:

Thanks for helping me out!

The Sudoku in Brain Age is well done. And while the game isn't something you play for long periods at a time, I've played it almost every day since getting it 2 1/2 weeks ago. I'm not sure that it's for everyone but I've found it to be really fun.

Can't say muc about the other two since I don't own either of them, but I have heard nothing but good things about Tony Hawk.

Brain Age wouldn't necessarily fit the bill because as stated, it's not really something to keep you playing for an hour at a time, so won't really work for your situation. Good game, but it's one you take in small doses.

A new game did come out this week on the DS called Soduku gridmaster and is nothing but Soduku for 20 bucks i believe that might be the thing to get if your into it.

The review on IGN said that Sudoku Gridmaster doesn't do sudoku nearly as well as Brain Age does...but it does have 400 puzzles compared to 100.

I'm currently playing Partners in Time and really enjoying it. The graphics are great, gameplay and mechanics is fun, the battles are enjoyable and not a chore. The dialogue, the occasional voices, and the animations are hilarious and really drives this game.

But then again, I've yet to play Superstar Saga so I can't compare the two. Others have said SS is much better.

And I don't know how long PiT is but I've only spent about 3 hours on it so far.

Get Tony Hawk DS. I think its the best DS game to date. The graphincs are amazing and the control is perfect. As with you, I hated all of the other TH games after THPS3. Hawk DS is more like THPS3 than the horrible THUG games. The game probably lasts about 8 hrs and then there is classic mode and online.

You also may want to try Big Brain Academy instead of Brain Age. I dont have Brain Age, but Big Brain has almost limitless replay.

Another vote for Brain Age/Tony Hawk. Partners in Time is a fine game but it takes around ten hours to play through. Plus it sounds like you're building your DS collection and well, two games build a collection better then one. I wouldn't be surprised if you could pick up PiT at the next TRU clearance for $10

I've decided on Mario & Luigi 2, simply because I can't find ANYWHERE in town that has Tony Hawk in stock, and I don't have enough time to order it off the internet (plane leaves monday morning). Thanks for your input everyone.

EDIT: Actually, my local gamestore - 'games 4 less' has Tony hawk in stock for $24.99...used. I'm not paying $5 over MSRP for a used game, so I'm sticking with M&L2

Of the 3 I've only played Brain Age, but I've played about a dozen DS games and Brain Age is my favorite. And it's only $15 with the TRU coupon.

I'd go with M&L 2 (which I see you did).

Brain Age is great, but other than Sudoku gets old after a while, and you can't waste much time on it. Just "minutes a day" as the subtitles of the game says.

I got sick of the Tony Hawk series several sequels ago, so I haven't bothered with it and will probably never by another skateboarding game as long as I live. :D

They ran that series into the ground with yearly sequels.

Yeesh, I've noticed my local EB/GS do the same thing...will basically charge MSRP (or a hair less) for a used game. Particularly galling when the game in question is cart-only or in one of their yellow store boxes. Used DS games are pretty slim pickin's in my area, too. I'd love to use my B2G1 GI coupon on some good one's like M&L:piT, but cant seem to catch any in stock.

Anyway, not to throw a monkey-wrench at you, but if you're a Advance Wars fan, you might take a look at Age of Empires. Got good reviews, supposedly a very good game. Another one I'm dying to get my hands on, but cant seem to find in my cheap ass pricerange.

Another vote for Tony Hawk. M&L 2 is good, just more of the same. If that's what you want, it's great. Brain Age is a game that you play for five minutes a day, but not really in large bursts. Tony Hawk, on the other hand, is an old-school Tony Hawk game with a few enhancements from the newer versions and some of the best graphics on the DS.

Good choice choosing Mario and Luigi: PiT, I would of suggested it as well. I took the game with me on vacation, and it saved me.

I LOVE Mario and Luigi: PiT!! I lent it out to my friend a few months back while I went through other games, and I'm just now five hours into it. It's such an entertainingly funny and fun game, both to watch and play. I'm sure it gets repetitive at parts, but I haven't had the problem. I think I like this one's play mechanics better than Superstar Saga personally... the baby's are great.
