Having played all the gamcube Mario Party, it is sad to say this is easily the worst. First of all instead of the single path single player mode in MP6 or beat 3 computer in MP5, Hudson decide to take a huge step back. The single player mode is now a race between you and a computer to get a certain number of coins or stars. Hoever, you just keep rolling and there are no mini games unless you land on a certain space. As a result, it is just seeing you can get a higher roll.

Second, instead of using stars to unlock stuff, they now have a point system. The system means that it is going to take much longer to unlock the bonus.

the also elimate the option of having computer play agains each other. In the old games it is a quick way of unlocking everything.

One thing i do like is the design of the board game. The windmill stage is easily one of the best in the series. In that stage you get stars by putting money in a windmill If you put the most money you get a star. However, the other players could take your star if they put in more money than you.

Overall I would suggests getting Mario Party 6 instead.

So basically the old "odds are horrible, evens are awesome" is remaining applicapable to the Mario Party series?

I got it recently and I've had fun with it, but I don't play single player, kinda boring for me. But the single player does have alot more "battle spaces" which should make up for the loss of mini games right?

I'm not a big fan of the "mic games" though. But like you said I do like how each stage has a diffrent objective. The windmill stage is my favorite. Now I'm trying to get 8 people togther for some major Mario Party. The 8 player mini games were intresting.

I did plan on getting this game soon, maybe I will pick it up later in the year....
Mario party games are fun as far as family and friend's game go, Unfortunatly they do get a bum wrap for coming out each year....

I don't know about seven but I do like the rest of them.

I haven't played 7, but I owned 1, 3, and 5 and thought they were all great.
Man that sucks... the poor gamecube... gotta wait for price drop on MP6.
Have fun with that, Mario Party 4 is still around $40 used (barring any crazy TRU-like clearances of course).

yeah this is pretty much the worst mp game in the whole series. I think they should go back to the classic mp games, like the second one.

Revival time..
I bought MP7 and I thought it was great. The mic games are a ton of fun, especially when everyone yells random shit at the mic holder trying to throw him off. I'm also glad to see some of the button mashing (as in single button) games are back, and I'm hoping they'll bring back some of those stick rotation games (even if it did tear holes in your hands ;) ). The different orb traps you could setup are sweet, and each character's special power was decent. Also, once I convinced my 7 friends that sharing a controller wasn't a sign of homosexuallity, we had a blast with the 8 player games.

The game is great. Much better than 4 and better than 5 and marginally improved over 6. Eight-player games were surprisingly a lot of fun! You share controllers and break into teams of two, which makes it more entertaining for decision making and mini-games; e.g. it's a lot harder for a single player to dominate the mini-games, even if the luck factor may penalize him/her anyway.

The race up the moutnain (with escalating prices) is fantastic. Easily my favorite board ever.

Seriously, get this one.

i would get 6 over 4 because of the mic support.

6 is easily the best. I actually like 7 though, the OPs complaints seem to be mostly about singleplayer (which I never play in any of them) and difficulty in unlocking (which I really don't care about). Though 6 has the best mini games and boards and that's really all that matters.

Overall order:
6, 2, 7, 4, 1, 5, 3

I have to disagree with the OP. While a board or two in this game sucks, this is still a great Mario Party. Also, I'm glad to see that they're adding new features to shake up the franchise a bit. Overall, if you liked any Mario Party game before then run out and buy this game. If you haven't played one yet..... give one a chance already! I'd suggest starting with one of the classic ones though, preferably 2 or 3, then move on to the GC ones (7 being the best).
