Mario Tennis Aces $25 @ Target. Price Mistake

kinda wish the digital was on sale too.   I'd grab the digital version, but dont think i'd bother on the physical. 

 
I jumped too. Also don't know why. Also wish it were the digital version.

FYI this ships free if you're a red card holder.

Also I'm still seeing the $25 price here.

I've wanted to try out this game for a while. $25 works for that. If it isn't fun, you will probably be able to sell it for basically the same price.

It is better than the Wii U one... but it's an upgraded port with more features. The Wii U lacked a lot of content; this added some nice new modes. At the end of the day it's still a tennis game; so it's fun to play, eventually it gets old.

My copy that I ordered at 4am was just cancelled. Anytime I'm able to get on a glitch on Target, my orders get canned. And that's why I prefer any other retailer when it comes to games and electronics.

Won't be able to take your Switch with you either. I'm skipping this, wait for Golf this summer, only so many Mario sports games I can take and that one is supposed to have a story mode.

My kids were un-impressed by the Wii U Mario Tennis, and when I had Aces for a few weeks late 2019, they got bored in a day so I think $27 is about the right price, ~40 is too much!  :cold:

 
Got a cancellation as well. May have been annoyed if it wasn't Mario Tennis Aces ^^;

Yep. I'm going to guess that they'll be"out of stock" until tomorrow, at which point they can claim that the $25 pricing has expired because it's a new day.

I'm annoyed, but as someone else already said above, it's just Mario Tennis...

Agreed. Mario Tennis / Arms / Kirby Star Allies/ 1-2 Swtich should all be 30$ games now. Add Mario Party to that list as well, since they didnt add anymore content to it. Add ports like Pokken & Hyrule Warriors, and Bayonetta as well. No reason sales on these games should be above 40$.

Welcome to the Nintendo way of pricing games. The company has long been known to maintain unreasonably high MSRPs for their games years and years after their release. I do think you'll eventually see a "Players Choice" line, though may be not until the twilight years of the console. I've grown tired of the Nintendo "premium." It's become less and less justifiable in light of the company's competition NOT doing it that way. At this point, Nintendo has long fallen to the bottom of my preferred games. I still enjoy Mario and Zelda games but nowhere near as much as I used to, and all the reprints of Wii U games (which I owned and played already) have made my decision to hold off on buying the Switch an easy one.

 
Hey now its back in stock and both $38 for the digital or physical copies.... lol  didnt see that coming Target

Mine canceled as well. This is the second item in as many months that Target has canceled on me.

The store I ordered mine from has it in stock. I called up Target customer service and they reordered it for me and they adjusted the price to the $25.01. I even got a $5 gift card for the inconvenience! 1 (800) 591-3869 is Target customer service.

Went to a location that had stock before the update and it rang up for $32.49. So a $7 difference if anyone is still interested.
 
Now that the physical edition is available for order again, I did an online chat and was able to place another order which they then manually adjusted to the earlier price :)

 
They tried to cancel mine but it apparently failed. Hilarious to see the cancellation fail email and the shipping email sent at the same time.

I picked up my copy tonight at guest services, and when I went back to electronics, there were still three copies locked behind the clear plastic barrier. So, yes, it was Target fixing the error.

Glad I got mine, though.

I also used my 10% off coupon on a 128 gb Sandisk Switch memory card and price-matched the Target website, so I got it for $22.49.

After decades of Nintendo gaming, every generation has me holding off on buying their first-party games except for Mario, Smash Bros and Mario Kart until I can finally afford them when Nintendo drop their prices late in each console's lifetime like you said. My ratio of games I buy is often 10 to 1 for Nintendo's competition vs Nintendo themselves because the competition is always willing to drop the price of their games to affordable levels while Nintendo keeps them unnaturally high until they're about to discontinue a Nintendo console.

Don't get me wrong. My family loves Nintendo. Maybe the fact their games are consistently kept at such high prices do make you believe they're worth the premium but it's a real shame I had to pass over so many Nintendo first-party games because I couldn't afford them. They really do make such quality games but so does the competition. If you look at the past several generations, game values haven't exactly held up in value when you look at the Wii, Wii U, DS and 3DS and I'm expecting they won't hold up for the Switch too. Gamecube game prices have been going up recently and I would have hoped the same would happen to the Wii U given how obscure it is but Nintendo re-releasing so many of its games on the Switch pretty much dashed those hopes. If people could recognize what a unique experience gaming on a Wii U is given its gamepad, maybe its games might be better appreciated.

I own the Switch but my library of games is tiny compared to my other consoles. I think I only have 3 first-party games and a good number of third-party games which are, thankfully, affordable instead of artificially high. The main draw of the Switch will always be giving you the ability to game portably on-the-go as well as on your big TV or if you love any of Nintendo's franchises as Mario Odyssey, Zelda Breath of the Wild and Smash Bros Ultimate are really upper-echelon games that shouldn't be missed. Now if only they can drop the prices on more of their games so I could afford them during this bad pandemic.
