After 8+ years of marriage I still feel weird calling my in-laws "mom" and "dad". Usually, I try to avoid using their names altogether but sometimes it can't be avoided (like on the phone). Anyone else feel weird about it?

I feel akward calling them mom and dad. So instead I use a different varient.

Madre and Padre. They seem to like it a lot , and when the kids get old enough, im sure that will stick with them also.

maman for my mother in law and I don't think I've ever called my father in law anything since he's not really in the picture.. I guess If I did it would be Fabrice. Makes it alot easier when its a different language. Not sure if I could call my mother in law mom in english.

Although I am not married I have been with my partner for a little under 5 years and in all that time I don't think I have ever referred to as anything other than "Sonya's Mom" As for her father well he left the family. So I never talk to him.

When I first started dating my fiance I would never really call them Mr. or Mrs. whoever, I would try to avoid addressing them directly by name. Now I call them by their first names and I don't plan on using Mom and Dad when we are married.

I plan on calling my In Laws Mr. and Mrs.

I already hate my Father in law to be and my mother in law to be talks too much.

I hardly ever use anybody's name. Not on purpose, but I guess I usually don't have any reason to say anyone's name if I'm talking to them. Your name is "hey" unless I'm talking to someone else about you.

I think my mother-in-law wants me to call her "mom" but I don't really feel comfortable doing so. If I absolutely have to call them anything, I usually resort to their first names, but most of the time I can get away without addressing them by any name.
