Yup I bought 4 of these things for $40 a piece. total of $165. Time to go to ebay my freinds and make $50-60 profit.

Flame me, congrat me, whaters. Or dont post even better.

Where did you get it? You don't have to be specific - I don't blame you for buying and reselling. But did you get it at retail, a Game store, or on the net or from a dumb friend, etc.?

Why are sealed copies of a video game worth more than an opened one? Do people really buy one sealed and have one opened to play? It just doesn't make much sense with video games. You buy them to play and that's it. For other collectibles you can enjoy the item even when it's sealed in a clear case or whatever but what are you going to do with a sealed video game - admire the crappy cover art??

I have no problem with the OP buying 4 copies of MvsC 2 for the Xbox. The game isn't rare - eBay seems to always have lots of copies (so I don't know why people believe the RARE crap that sellers use) and if he wants to take the chance then it's his choice.
Ha, for $40.. good luck making a profit..

I love hoarders. They suck in the short-term, but it's people like him that flood ebay with rare games and the value tanks.

Wow, nevermind. There's a sealed copy on Ebay for $110.

Yeah, it is at $117 now - wow... One finished at $98 a few days ago - but before that most went for $60. I don't know what's up with those prices. Of course, the current winner is a 0 feedback bidder who might have second thoughts about paying :D

The usual price on this game is around $70 for sealed ones. The $117 one is just idiots with 0 feedback in a bidding war. There's always usually a bunch of them on ebay for BINs of $60-70. The game isn't THAT hard to find. In the last week, I've seen 5 copies combined at Fred Meyer and Walmart for $39.99. (I bought one for myself naturally)

If people are buying it as a gift they will often want it new.

I've purchased rare used items as gifts.. as a matter of fact i purchased a NES with SMB 2 for my sister and a SNES with DKC both used obviously, for friends this past christmas. i would be completely happy getting a used copy of MVC 2.. too bad i already own it./

"Investing" in video games might be the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. It won't even cover the time spent + gas + ebay fees + shipping fees. Hahahaha. Tool.

I have to agree with javeryh and scorch here. I hate hoarders. "Investing" in games is probably the dumbest thing you can do. What's "hot" on eBay one minute won't be the next. If the rest of you guys want to see another hoarder in action, check out this thread.

This guy boasts about reselling his games on eBay and wants to purchase games from fellow CAG users because he can offer them more credit than gamestop or eb.

It seems lately that the more popular CAG gets the more hoarders and resellers we get. I know our name has been sprinkled over Fatwallet a few times so I'm sure people come from there as well.

hoarders will be hoarders.. unless you have a wholesale deal .. selling v-games is not profitable at all (and even at wholesales.. 30-40 for the new games is hardly worth the

I don't get why all these people are paying so much for ports of a DC game you can get for $5...

I've had the DC version for years and got it for like $25.

The DC version is the best, and it goes for like $25 new. The thing is...how many people have a Dreamcast. Sure, there are the hardcore, but a lot of people jumped ship when it died. That's no reason to pay that much though.

yeah but if you really wanted to play it, my store sells dreamcast system for $20 so you could get the system and the sealed game for $45 almost a third less than the xbox game itself!

If I buy a game to sell in the future it will only be one copy. I did this with Disgaea for $5 at the CC sale and La Pucelle for $20 at Target. I think those are the only ones I ever bought exclusively to sell. I own them already anyway.

Really? I'd be down for a Dreamcast and MvC2 for $45. Does the Dreamcast have a box?

I think the funny thing about this is that no one noticed he said he bought 4 copies for $40 each. In the title is says $170 (which is $42.50 each) and inside the thread it says $165 (which is $41.25 each)....

So I'm gonna have to call BS and shitty math on this one...

I agree. I finally got a copy for PS2 from Gamestop for $17.99 shipped the other day. It was disc only, but I'm one of those wacky folks who just wants to play the game. I don't care about reselling or any of that crap. And if I had a Dreamcast I definitely would've gone for that version - although using the PS2 Street Fighter controller is pretty sweet for this game.

In the last 2 months I've been able to find 3 sealed copies at FYE for $40 each. With trade-ins I paid about $15-20 for each. The cheapest one sold for $70. Shit I've even sold a resealed copy that I got from FYE for $69. Good luck with your auctions OP. If you have a digicam or camera phone make sure to post a pic in your gallery. That's what really helped my auctions out.

This game pops up at EBgames.com in the morning all the time-- $35 shipped.

Its at my local store. I will start selling them by next week. If the price goes down to like $70 im still happy. Since im making $28 profit still. Tax killed me, o well at least tax isnt too big in Hawaii.

Game "investing" can be risky, but props to those who can pull it off. I'm too lazy to put a lot of effort into that. Sometimes though I'll read stories of people here buying and reselling, and after all the driving and TIME they put into it I have a hard time seeing how it was worth it. The only time I really bother "investing" is for those freak once-in-a-lifetime deals that no self-respecting CAG could turn down... like when I saw four Zelda Collector discs for $0.49 each. I have no problem admitting I became a dirty little hoarder on that one... that's how I ended up financing my XBOX (through EB trade-ins, some special promotion where you get extra money). If it's served up to me on a silver platter like that, I'm definitely going for it... but I'm usually too lazy for eBay.

Oh and is it the general concensus that the Dreamcast version is the best? That's cool, because that's the one I have. :whistle2:D

if you can sell Disgaea then your very lucky to get away from the game. I paid 40 for a used copy and doubt i will ever sell it i been hooked to it ever since. got around 130 hours into the game and beat the game twice so far Level 1400 here i come WOOOO

The guy winning has a zero feedback. I think some pissed off people have opened accounts to screw these hoarders.

Why is this game over $50?
Cool people like me have the Dreamcast version! With the arcade stick!
Cool people don't use a stick.

Because quasi-gamers don't realize the Dreamcast version is way cheaper and is based upon the arcade hardware (NAOMI).

A Dreamcast + MVC2 + Agetec arcade stick is still cheaper than the grainy/pixalated Xbox* and PS2* versions.

* I don't know what the Xbox version looks like, but the PS2 version looks and feels like a inferior port

I have the DC version as well (and Saturn, yay! X-men vs Street Fighter on Saturn rules you all though). Anyway, the main draw for me was that it is a somewhat rare item and I loves me some fighting games, which is why I bought it (at a wal-mart for $40 of course ^_^).

i got my DC version off a friend about 4 1/2 years ago for about $20. You people that buy this game for $40 or more on eBay are fucking idiots.

I'll say this till the day I die...... Casual gamers need to commit suicide. And I want Sega to come back. And sports games are nothing but dog shit.

Oh, and OP, go drown yourself in a bath tub. Dick.
