Is this version of the game compatible with game saves from the steam version of Mass Effect 1?

Either way, I'd like to have it since I don't own any version of ME 2. And I don't plan to sell the game either.

I went to the God of War III midnight release and met a guy that said he was a cag, stood in line for 3 hours with me, when they did the drawing for the prizes he won the strategy guide and left, told me he was gonna get it off Amazon later.
