Mass Effect: Platinum Hits (Xbox 360) is 14.99 at Newegg FREE SHIP

mislabeled by newegg. there is no goty edition. platinum hits version has an extras disc that includes "bringing down the sky" dlc

edit: this is an excellent game. the best storytelling in the ME series.. and really in all games of this generation. by all means pick this up for $15 if you haven't played it and can't get the pc version.

Played the first mission of this when it came out.

Had no desire to play any longer there after, or anything from the series.

The same thing for Dead Space, Bioshock, Assassins Creed.

Yeah, I might not have given them fair shots by playing the first missions, but like I said, no desire to revisit.

I have this same problem with a lot of games myself. I feel like there's a part of me that needs to be captured in the first two or three missions, or my interest in playing the game over what I already have just fades away.

And then my backlog just grows bigger and bigger.

Really ?

AC I can understand. Played 10 minutes of the first game and I was like F this, but to to say the same to Dead Space and Bioshock. What the fuck is wrong with you????

For us CAGs that don't want to deal with discs, Mass Effect is $15 on GoD. Missing the Bring Down the Sky DLC, but that's only $1.

I had the exact same problem with the first ME. I just couldn't get into it. I'm shock the other 3 games did the same thing to you. Bioshock had me pulled in on the first few seconds. Dead space and AC took me about 2-3 missions to really get into, but after that I was loving them.
Is that a good price? A five year old game's Platinum Hits?
YES. It was rare to find not too long ago, and it's a great deal even at $20 MSRP. Includes DLC to sweeten the deal too.
Best one in the series IMO

THANK YOU! Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one that believes this.
Wow, did I ever feel alone when I used to say this... but glad to see I'm not the only one who feels the first is the best.

You are not alone.
I got ME1 a few years ago and it just feels so dated.
Couldn't get into it.

I love Dead Space though. :)

ME has its issues (sloppy shooting mechanics, bad frame rates, and discombobulated inventory system), but it's still one of the few classics of this generation and it should not be missed.

wow, I bought my 360 just to play Mass Effect 1. I bought the platinum edition, sure it had frame rate issues but this game is one of the best games I've played, maybe people say the series is overrated. But the first game had a great story compared to 2, about to play 3. I mean I love this series so much, I beat it on the 360 ME 2 and bought it for the PS3.
Edit: Mass Effect 1 has some pretty moving moments throughout the game.

To you all who had trouble getting into the game: I experienced the same thing but kept coming back. It turned into the best gaming experience ever...pretty much like starring in your own big budget blockbuster.

I've gotten best buy to price match their own websites price of $7.99 twice already without any issues.
A number of people have gotten Best Buy to price match the $7.99 on their site.: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Mass+Ef...3593.p?id=1175389260343&skuId=8323593&st=mass effect&lp=3&cp=1

However, you'd have to go in and see if they have it or call their 800 number and ask them to sku-check stores.
Most of them have it. It's either in the cardboard set-up or it's with the other $20 value games. And yes, it's a great deal at Best Buy. Still, this is also pretty good if you can't find a copy at Best Buy or can't get them to price-match it.

They are getting hard to find since a lot of people grabbed them at $8 and traded them to GS when the 50% was going on.

I they dont have it in the "cheap games" area of the aisle, you'll have to dig in the clearance bin and hope to find one. I only found one at the BBY I was at and got it, but maybe there was one more I couldn't find in those bins.

Also they aren't supposed to PM the outlet prices, but dont mention it and hopefully they wont notice. I dont see why this is an outlet price, but a BBY employee told me this and someone from another thread also mentioned this. So slight ymmv possibly.

The Outlet Center is kind of strange. Sometimes it shows that it's an Outlet Center item, sometimes it doesn't. Right now it doesn't. But when I tried to do it and it wasn't showing as an Outlet Center item, the manager still said they would not PM it because it said Sold Out Online. She said that if it said that, they couldn't PM it. I know that's bull, but the managers don't listen because they think they know it all. So some might still have trouble PMing it.

Yeah, I'm surprised Bioware hasn't made a remake with the superior shooting of ME2, because that's honestly what makes ME2 better than 1 for me.

Mass Effect took me two tries to get into. The first time it was just sort of overwhelming, I didn't understand the powers and how to use them, and I was expecting a KOTOR experience. So I stopped playing, came back to it a month or so later, then after about 2hrs, I was hooked. Have loved all the games. Amazing series.

This. It's hard to go back to after ME2/3 because of the technical issues and sometimes-clumsy gameplay (especially the hellishly awful inventory system), but it's still one of the best games ever. I've played through it 6 times. :D
