I went to Circuit City today and noticed that the bargain bin was overflowing and that there were $19.99 games all over the floor and on rolling carts.

Being overly curious, I played dumb with one of the employees and asked if they were having a clearance sale (like the $9.99 and $5 sales of the past) -- and he said yes.

Apparently they're making room for the next generation and clearancing titles at $7.96 -- pretty good titles, too, from what I got to see. Rainbow Six 3: Black Arrow, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Halo, 007: Everything or Nothing. I only go to glance at some of the Xbox titles, though.

He said the sale is going to start "within the next couple of days".

Can anyone verify?

Edit: Also, check this video game service desk for a "Holiday Buyers Guide". It's filled with $5 off coupons.
Good luck with Mega Man Anniversay, Baten Kaitos, and RE:0... I think they got raided pretty thoroughly in the last sale. I've been to several CCs in several states since then and haven't seen a single copy of any of those three titles.
My CC still has RE:0 for the Gamecube if you still need one. I'll grab one tonight and we can work out something. :)
This thread kind of depresses me, because it reminds me that nothing will ever top the CC clearance sale from July '04. :(
This just brings a tear (of joy or sorrow?) to my eye.

That sale was a thing of beauty. It was a Saturday night and I logged within the first few pages of the original post. My wife gave me a green light to run out (as long as I picked up ice cream on the way back). There wasn't much of a list yet, so I just brought up tons of games to the front. At my store, I was alone in my knowledge of the sale.

Disgaea . . . $5, MvC . . . $5, Skies of Arcadia . . . $5, RAD . . . $5

I've gotten tons of $5 games and quite a few free games since then but that sale just plain FUN. Now if a sale that is half as good comes along there is a mob in front of you.

just went and checked on a few of the new titles OP listed, but i can confirm it hasnt kicked in yet. Me thinks ill try again sunday

I went in today and saw a lot of "activity" in the videogame area, they were retagging certain stuff, I have no idea what, though I did see some Forzas on the counter, so maybe that one might be worth price-checking. And they were actually putting 360 games out on the shelves, so if you're desperate to get Xbox 360 games and want to stare at them until the 22nd, then try Circuit City :)

Thanks for the offer, but I've had RE:0 since it originally dropped to $20. Great game.

I'm sure, though, that some other CAGgers might be interested in trading with you for this game since it's getting really hard to find a new sealed copy nowadays.

The beauty of that sale is that if you were a dedicated CAG that regularly checked the boards, you more than likely got first pick of the games that were available. That and there were plenty of awesome games at $5 a piece. I read about it Saturday night, and my wife and I were in the CC parking lot Sunday morning waiting for them to open the doors. There were a few other cars also in the parking lot waiting for them to open and I just knew we would have to fight them for games. To my surprise, as we rushed in, my wife and I were the only people that went back to the games. I couldn't believe my luck as I found many of the games I actually wanted (Mario Party 4 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica among them).

I ended up getting 6 GC games for around $30 and the cashier couldn't believe what these games were ringing up for. I had no use for the XBox and PS2 games so it's hard to tell what I left in there. I didn't even check that section.

By far the greatest sale I've taken advantage of from CAG.

hmm... a memorial day "sale"... I hope this is like all their other good sales that I've come to enjoy :)

I just hope they carry decent stuff this time and don't let employees get first pick... it's anoying as hell when that happens.

Awww but i like this thread better. it gives me false hope that Rainbow6: Black Arrow is going to be 8 bucks in the near future, whereas your post shoots that dream in the face and then kicks it in the rib cage till it stops moving

There is still a small possibility of it happening. The $4.99 clearance sale from July 2004 pretty much came out of nowhere. However as of right now there are NO signs at all of anything outside of the lists that I have provided of anything major clearance wise happening.

I am sorry to be a heartbreaker and provide the bad news. I hate doing but... but someone has to do it.
