Max Payne 2 $2 and Other Price Drops on New Games @ EB.com/GS.com ($10 & under)

I picked up both the Xbox and PS2 versions of MP2 new for a grand total of $4.30. I smelled more-expensive-than-it-looks birthday gift opportunities with that deal. Thanks, OP.

It does say GameStop on it but it's actually a Red tin. The GameStop logo is at the bottom in white letters so it's hard to hide it but oh well. It's still limited I guess.
the RE 4 gamecube one with that silver tin outside has the ugly gamestop logo doesn't it?
Let's hope whoeve receiving those gifts don't see the ad and buy already. =P
Picked up Max Payne 2 @ EB B&M tonight: $1.99

It rang up correctly in-store w/o adjustment.
Cool, can anyone confirm this anywhere else? I want to go in store to get it but not if it doesn't work. Does EB price match their own online ads in store?

Picked up MP2 new on XBOX for $2 in store, and this one was a GameStop.

GameStop's website prices are usually pretty well in line with the store prices.

Thanks!

Well, picked up Tecmo Classic Arcade for $5 at the local EB, and it's pretty bad. None of the games are very fun - Tecmo Bowl is nowhere near as good as the NES version. Good thing I only spent $5 on it

Still wanna try 4 player Tecmo Bowl, though.

Doh! Nothing I don’t already have or don’t want :(

Regarding Sigma Star Saga, I bought it full price when it came out, and really enjoyed it, except it has a nasty bug that kept me from beating it. Towards the end of the game (I think-just guessing), on one particular planet, I’d frequently get to the end of a battle, beat all the bad guys, and the screen would just keep scrolling forever instead of switching back to the regular view. I wasn’t able to make it across the planet without running into that bug, so I couldn’t get past it.

And I almost hate saying anything, because the game is really good. Really fresh. It’s got a nifty sci-fi theme which by itself makes it a tad more interesting than normal, but beyond that it really does play like a Japanese RPG, but with side scrolling shooter levels in place of the normal turn based combat of a JRPG. The characters and graphics are both nifty too.

I really respect Way Forward for making this, and Namco for publishing it…but I feel like I have to mention that bug. I don’t know…is it possible for just one game to have a bug like that? I wouldn’t think so. Maybe because I was playing it on my DS? Wouldn’t think that would matter either. So just a heads up, but I really did like it :(

Puppy that is quite a valid concern, but have you emailed the developer or searched FAQs for information? Both steps are quite necessary in a case like this.

The onyl similar killer bug I ever ran into is when I beat Virtua Tennis for GBA (excellent game) and it deleted my save file after the ending sequence.... since I already finished the game, I did not pursue the matter further.
Awesome deal on Max Payne 2.. Does anyone know if there's a "better version" of the two?
GameRankings scores MP1 and 2 about 10% higher on the XBOX versions than the PS2 versions.. I can vouch for the PS2 version of MP1 sucking in the graphics, loading time, and smoothness departments. I haven't played my new XBOX copies yet but I imagine it'll be better.

got a copy of Max Payne 2 for the PS2 even though I already have a PC version. Lets see how it compares.

Just wondering, if it doesnt finalize the sale, (brings you to the order number page, and stuff like that, instead says theres an error with the given billing information) Does it still go through with the order? In other words, I went to continue (accendently forgot to change the shipping to value) and it said something wrong with the billing info, tried again, same thing. Then I checked my account and it had 2 pending transactions of ($12.71) but didnt get an email or the final screen. Then I redid everything and got one for ($2.12). So will this cancel and not charge?

I was wondering since Walmart takes returns without receipts couldn't you return a bunch of MP:2 and get a good return on them?

Yes you could but that is illegal and you might even get banned from this site for talking about crap like that :bomb:

I read about that glitch in an FAQ.

From the FAQ:

"
NOTE* there is a nasty glitch that only happens here, and
what it does is force you into an endless shoot stage, and there is no way out!
NOTE* you can avoid this glitch by not killing the white node enemies when your
counter is at one - thanks to MinisterofSillyWalks for this information. NOTE*
the white fireballs and the stuff that looks like snot are tied to the white
nodes anchored to the floor and ceiling, so if you take them out, you will
also kill the fireballs and snot."

Hope that helps.

I tried to enjoy this game. I thought Way Forward's Shantae was pleasant, but everything about this game was offensive to me. Tedious, tedious, TEDIOUS random ship battles. Questionable balancing. And the plot, at least as far as I got, is gut-wrenchingly bad. I literally hate EVERY CHARACTER I have met in the game, and hate the developers for shoving this "humans are the real enemies" stuff down our throats in the least subtle and worst ways for any sort of reasonable storytelling.

Especially before they even make the purple aliens even somewhat convincing as humanity's foes.

Hi. I bought Max Payne 2 (Xbox) in store last weekend. I took it home, and the game keeps locking up on me. I then returned that copy for a new one, but I'm having the same problem. I then returned that copy for another new one, and the game keeps locking up on me. I'm wondering if this is a common problem? All my other games work fine on my xbox.

Not a common problem IMO, must be something wrong with your Xbox

Got my Max Payne 2 (PS2) today. It's so freakin' new that it looks like it just rolled out of the production line.

Definitely the best $2 I spent. The postage itself would have costed more than $1 already.

I missed out on the PC version of this when it was really cheap at EB/GS, so I had to settle for 9.99 at Fry's. If anyone wants the PC version, that might be the best you can do in a store (outside of ebay anyways).

This game requires a mouse and keyboard for the player to actually have a good time IMO.

don't let the fact that this is a repost stop you from posting deals again. just search a bit next time. i've said this before in other threads, but still. the point has to be made that the attempt to help inform doesn't go unappreciated.

edit: of course, i notice now that you're not a newb. so this post was rather worthless. at least i got in before the lock.

edit 2: i need to stop posting when i'm drunk.

Agreed. However, if I see this game posted again, I'm going to punch a puppy.
