I was just at the compusa in Manchester, CT, and they had an awesome deal on the 250gb maxtor with 16mb cache! Only $100 WITH NO REBATES!!

EDIT: ATA/133 9.2ms seek time

Bought mine at Staples last week when it was on 'sale' for $129.99. Those bastards.

On another note, Staples does have some cheap ass DVD+/-R media. 40 pack for $5 after rebate.Cheap Media

They also have a 200GB 8MB Cache drive for $60 AR Cheap Ass Maxtor Drive

Cool thing about Staples is that you can submit you rebate right online. No UPC required. Just enter the rebate code they give you on the reciept and enter in your personal info. Rebates for us lazy cheap asses. :D

Wow... what was the avg seek time? 8.5 is pretty standard for ATA, SATA is about 7.5-8... What type of drive was it?

wow, i just heard about this on fw. too bad staples is out of stock or you could've bought it from them, applied a 30 off a 150 coupon, and then pm'ed it to compusa making it less than $70 after rebates. i hate when i miss out on a huge deal like that! :x
this hd is said to work perfectly with the ps2, and the size is enought to maximize all the space you can use with a hd loader
HD Loader software only supports 120 GB HDDs, but the HDD you're suggesting is 160 GB, leaving 40 GB unused. For a full 200 GB of storage, might I suggest a 200 GB HDD for use with HD Advance 2.0?

actully after you format the hd to work with the hd loader and it partitions the space youll only have 130-140 gb. the hd loader supports larger drives (read: drives with more than 127 gigs) however it wont let you use anything past the 127.

for 40 bucks its worth it since i already have a hdloader.

The 250 gb drive at Compusa has a 9.4ms seek time. I wouldn't use it for hard core gaming, but it'll be plenty nice to hold all my anime!

Thanks Nick

Compusa also has an external enclosure on sale for $40 this week meaning you could have a 250GB external drive for $140... Yowza.

Also of note, I use the aforementioned 160 gig for my PS2 and yes, it works great.
