Fox News Chief Political Correspondent Carl Cameron appeared on The O'Reilly Factor tonight and described in much fuller detail the truly astonishing behavior, and lack of knowledge, of Sarah Palin on the campaign trail, as well as the nasty infighting that resulted from, some would say, Palin's "diva" behavior. (Earlier today, Palin said reports of her "diva" behavior and any tension within the campaign were "absolutely false.") Cameron relates how McCain aides were terrified of Palin's lack of knowledge of international and national issues, and even basic civics. Cameron reports that Palin was unfamiliar with the concept of "American exceptionalism," and that not only did she not understand that Africa was a continent rather than a single country but also that during debate prep Palin was unable to name all the nations in North America.
Palin was apparently a nightmare for her campaign staff to deal with. She refused preparation help for her interview with Katie Couric and then blamed her staff, specifically Nicole Wallace, when the interview was rightly panned as a disaster. After the Couric interview, Palin turned nasty with her staff and began to accuse them of mishandling her. Palin would view press clippings of herself in the morning and throw "tantrums" over the negative coverage. There were times when she would be so nasty and angry that her staff was reduced to tears.

this is coming from fox news too, its ridiculous

Wow. This is funny. I don't really get why he took such a gamble with her. A gamble with the US if she ever ended up in the top spot.

EDIT: I am hoping she fades away, but that seems unlikely.

And the sad part of all of this is the fact that she runs Alaska. Does that not scare anyone? The fact that people actually elected this women?

Its not much different than the guy that the media I mean, the people elected.

To me, this proves that John McCain has horrible judgment, that he'd put her that close to the presidency is unbelievable.

To say that she represented the average American is apparently true, unfortunately.

Or how about the fact that they re-elected a corrupt politician who has been committed of felonies?

There are more registered voters in Tucson than Alaska.

That scares me....

To play devil's advocate for a minute the naming all the nations of North America is a little more difficult than one would normally assume. Sure there's Canada, US, Mexico, and even Greenland and Cuba would be easy enough but I challenge anyone to remember all the Central American countries without turning to Wikipedia. Oh, and by the way, if you don't decide to go to Wikipedia, take note, there's 41 countries on the North American continent. I consider myself to be of average intelligence and I know that surprised me...

I'd imagine there aren't a lot of people that can name those 41 countries off the top of their head, Not John McCain, not Sarah Palin, not Joe Biden, and not even our new president-elect Barack Obama.
Palin 2012

Can't wait for Obama to steamroll her then
The conservatives are already blaming her almost solely for this loss. She'll be lucky if she manages to get her party's endorsement for re-election as Alaska's Governor let alone any other office.

You know, I heard an interesting thought from an analyst on one of the news channels yesterday. Maybe McCain was seeing the writing on the wall and didn't want to get in the way of something as historic as a black president being elected and therefore wasn't really giving this whole thing his whole effort. Normally I'd say that's kind of silly but his choice of Palin does seem to support that idea...

They're asking her about NAFTA. North America. NAFTA concerns Canada-eh, Meh-hee-ko and the Yewnited States.

She only had to remember three countries. #-oShe's the governor of a state that belongs to one of them. Her state is geographically connected to another one. She employs people from the third country to clean her house. Should have been a piece of cake.

Aren't there more than three countries in North America?

The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) (Spanish: Tratado de Libre Comercio de América del Norte [TLCAN], French: Accord de libre-échange nord-américain [ALENA]) is a trilateral trade bloc in North America created by the governments of the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The agreements were signed in December 1993 by the leaders of the three countries — Brian Mulroney of Canada, Carlos Salinas de Gortari of Mexico, and Bill Clinton of the United States but did not come into effect until January 1, 1994 when Jean Chrétien was in office in Canada.

But geographically, isn't Greenland a part of North America?
But geographically, isn't Greenland a part of North America?
Of course. But again.. We're talking NAFTA. Canada, Mexico, USA. North America geographically encompasses indeed Greenland, Cuba, Haiti and the buttload of other countries that are usually informally referred to as latin america. Geographically it stops at Columbia, which is the geographical "start" of South America.

Looks like when she was de-witched, they missed a few, and now they're acting up.

Oh, I didn't read the full article, just the summary in the OP. Palin was asked specifically about NAFTA? If so, man, what a num-num.
But geographically, isn't Greenland a part of North America?
Technicially, even France has St. Pierre and Whateverit'sfuckingcalled. But to be fair, the room you're in right now is probably bigger than that place.
