Yeah so it's the end of the semester and I have one final left. However, I messed up my final pretty bad. All I needed was a 55 for it to get a B but I got a 38... I mean I real fucked it up. However, there was a curve and I thought I had gotten the B I wanted either way, I e-mailed the teacher and he said the curve was on the test not the final grade however I did help him find a miscalculation in the grades for some other students, well.. good for them, so this is an e-mail I wrote this that I haven't sent yet... I figured I'd post it here to get some feedback before I hit the send button.

Well I'm glad I could be of some help. I realize I messed up pretty bad on that final exam, and I am pretty disappointed. I did study though, that's why it bothers me so much. I went that review session, I even pulled an all nighter and I thought I had it all down fairly well. Apparently not... I don't know exactly what happened, but when that test was in front of me I just pulled a blank. Maybe I got mentally exhausted from the first final I had to take earlier in that day, that I also crammed for and got an A on. None the less, the words I was reading off the paper just weren't making any sense to me. And all I had to do was get 10 more questions answered correctly to get a B in the class, and I failed, miserably. So anyway, I'm sure you realize what the point of this e-mail was about, basically I just wanted to see if there was anything I could do to compensate for my huge failure on that test and secure that B for the class, perhaps a paper? a retest? I know it's a long shot but I figured with all the sleep deprivation I've been going through maybe you would understand. If you can do anything for me, I would be forever grateful.

Hah.. yeah.. damn I just realized I posted in the wrong forum... So what do you guys think? Should I send it?

Skip the email, do it face to face, it will be harder for the teacher to say no if you are right there as opposed to separated by the email message. Cut down on the amount of BS. Just say basically I studied hard, was at the review session, it didn't make a difference, then make your proposal.

I'd suggest saying you studied daily for a week or so leading up to the test instead of an "all nighter", unless you want to say both. Other than that it seems fine.

Though, as suggested, face to face is probably better.
How did it turn out?
it turned out well he ended up bumpin me a half letter grade, I also pointed out it was harder for me to learn cause it was a once a week class and he missed like 3 of them.

Well thanks for all the replies. I don't know if I'll be able to talk to him in person because all his classes for the semester are done so I doubt he'll be around campus. I sent him an e-mail.. he seems like a cool guy, I'll let you guys know how it goes *crosses my fingers*
