Seems a bunch of games just dropped in price. Probably a response to Best Buy and also our complaining about the crappy RPG day sale they had.

Just got my Divinity 2: The Dragon Knight Saga from that LD. I don't know if people know but it also comes with a soundtrack bonus. Just throwing it out there.

TwEwY is a fun game. It is rare that I finish a game, but I did with this one. More than worth the current $12.xx price tag.

Anyway, I picked up NIER for PS3. Been eyeing it for a while. Anyone have an opinion on it?

I heard Nier is really good from multiple people and
that makes me wish I played when I had it.

Nier is my favorite HD JRPG from this gen. The graphics may be a little outdated, but the game is fantastic. The OST is absolutely beautiful, the story is a refreshing change of pace, and the gameplay, while mainly hack and slash, does a lot of really cool things and it plays off a lot of different genres at different points in the game.

The only console RPG that I enjoyed more this gen was Xenoblade.

Pretty much exactly what he said. It might just be my favorite console RPG this gen. It's a refreshing change of pace and I loved this game so much.
 
Does Nier get better after putting in a decent amount if time? I played about four hours and thought it was atrocious.

Do you have the 3 main characters (not including the floating book)? Has the camera angle changed in different levels?

I wasn't liking the game at first either but the music, characters, story and the way the camera angle changes in certain levels (even with skills, like when the book starts shooting it feels like a third person shooter) grew on me and I ended up really enjoying the game.

fantastic game. the music, the story, the characters are all brilliant. gameplay is just your average action rpg. however there are times when the camera angles change perspective in the dungeons that is quite unique.

Also very unique game+. It's a must in order to get the full story.

love this game! so fun. I think it may have helped though that i went in knowing it would start slow. the beginning is slow but it picks up. no spoilers but there is a couple tear-jerk moments in there and im a grown man!
 
Nier is great, especially for cheap. The music alone is worth the price of admission and will probably help you through most of the slow parts, with a couple of exceptions. PROTIP: Sidequests for the most part are extremely optional- if you're not having fun grinding away at one, feel free to skip it! The big reward for most quests is some fun banter between characters/unexpected twists in the quest story.

You might be missing out on the soundtrack if you got it used, unless the description stated that it came with it.

This is a 6-7 hour thrillride that controls like Resident Evil 4 but with improvements and a batshit crazy but awesome story and world by Suda 51. I fucking loved it.
 
Shadows of the Damned is cheaper from Gamefly.

It's like RE4 but not quite as good.

And I hated Nier. It doesn't really get better though the post-game replay content IS substantial

I really liked Nier. But let's not get crazy - there are better JRPGs this gen, namely ToV and Lost Odyssey.

War for Cybertron is an amazing game. Fun singleplayer and multiplayer. Not sure if multiplayer is dead yet though. The sequel is also something to look out for.

If you like Transformers or mech robots, like me, and have the cash, I'd say go for it. Gears of War-ish type 3rd person play and nothing like that crappy Dark of the Moon game.

There are lots of games I hate but not quite enough to make me stop playing them altogether.

Plus, given how absurdly often people mumble about the new game+ offerings, I had to at least see if it would pick up. I was genuinely curious to see how they would end it, and I was treated to some of the finest unintentional comedy you might see outside of a MST3K-tier crappy movie

Really tempted to pick this up again, but I can't bring myself to spend more than $10. I rented it and loved it, but I've beaten the game multiple times. I just need the ridiculously grindy multiplayer trophies.

But I can't wait for the new one. Looks like it might just be a day one purchase.
