Memory Card Question

When the Wii first came out, it could only recognize up to 2GB sd cards. I do not know if this has changed due to upates or anything. So out of the box the Wii will NOT support that card.
 
Just to make sure, you do realize that you dont necessarily need a SD card, right?

The thing has 512 mb of flash built in, the SD is optional.

Yeah I knew it had some built in. I picked up a 2gb card from buy.com for $10 with free shipping.
