Metal Detector

CAGiversary!
Hello All,

I am mildly interested in getting a metal detector and trying it out as a hobby. I don't intend to get rich off of hidden caches or expect I'll even break even on batteries but lately I was thinking about the one I played with as a kid. I don't know if anybody here is into this sort of thing but I can't decide what's a good deal. Obviously since this is super casual I don't want White's 1000+ dollar ones but I want one thats not a piece of junk. Probably would be using it in the woods, on a few lawns, by a river, or by the beach if that matters. Ive seen some on craigslist but don't know how to make a counter offer since I don't know values. Any insight or personal stories would be appreciated and thanks for your time.

Awesome, i'll look into it. I probably wouldnt want to spend a lot for something I can't see myself doing all the time so 90 bucks is pretty reasonable. Thanks!

Tesoro Compadre is what you want at an entry price level.

Iv been researching detectors for a few months now.

2ns best option to that would be the infamous Garrett 250.

I'm in the process of trying to sell some of my games or something to buy one as well and start the hobby.

Don't get fooled and think a detector is a detector. Depending on the price you're paying really does determine you're return rate.

Spending just another $50-$100 will give you better signals then what ever is below it in the totem pole.
