Old stuff for me as well, my list would look pretty much like jer7583's.

I think the only cd's I've gotten recently that are 'new' music are the Murderdolls and the last couple Christian Death albums, which have some metal-like tracks on them, but aren't really considered metal.

projecteightysix, the picture in your sig is beyond disgusting. seriously, i mean, it's not even funny. could you please exchange it with something a little more taseful.

*sorry to thread crap, no pun intended*

Damn, I knew there was a reason I had sigs turned off. Curse my curiousity. But at least now your pun makes sense, munch. And I agree.

used to be very into metal, but I haven't heard anything new for the past 2 years, just listening to my old CDs and mp3s.

Anyway:

Slayer
Annihilator
In Flames (old)
Metallica (old)

My favorite Genre is Black/Death/Doom metal.

Bands- Morbid Angel, Cradle of Filth, Sentenced, Dying Fetus, Cannibal Corpse, Agathodaimon, Dimmu Borgir, Old Man's Child, Krisiun, Hate Eternal, Iced Earth, Incantation, Arch Enemy, Behemoth, Fear Factory, Shadows Fall, In Flames, and Bolt Thrower.

I have been liking bands from the Relaspe label lately: Nile, Mastadon, High on Fire.

Southern Lord is also a great record label- Lots of doom metal there!

I'm mostly into old metal and "sludge" metal like the Melvins old shit. I live in Atlanta and went to high school with a couple of the Mastodon guys, so I have to support the hometeam! I also like Enemy Mine - it's a couple of dudes from the the Jesus Lizard and some crazy-ass japanese drummer. good shit.

The only metal I'm big on is 80's/early 90's thrash and speed metal, i.e. Slayer, Pantera, Metallica, Megadeth etc.

However, I do like stoner rock a lot, and lot's of it doesn't stray too far from the basic metal formula.

NP: Mudvayne - Lost & Found
I like stuff from all genres of metal.
A few of my fav. bands are Metallica, Slayer, Deicide, Mudvayne, and Rob Zombie.

Dream Theater is the best band in the world. 'Nuff said.

Bands like rob zombie, korn, trapt, linkin park should never be considered metal, they are too mainstream. they should be call maybe alternative or pop metal LOL

no they are officially called nu-metal...
no they are officially called nu-metal...
How the hell would Korn be considered "Pop-metal"? Seriously, go back to the self titled cd. Is that Pop metal? I don't fucking think so. THat cd right there is heavier than most metal bands today. Well, normal metal. Not all the sub-genres.

im stoked for this .... anyone else get to go, i just happen to be in europe, i cant pass up a festival .... more bands have been added since the flyer, including Finntroll!!!

If I was in Europe, I would hit that concert up in a heartbeat.

I would love to see Cradle of Filth live though, that would be killer. GWAR is another one I wanna see live. Supposedly, they have a giant vagina onstage that they throw a fan into. At least thats what my friend Ryan said when he went to one of their shows.

i got to see cradle of filth a couple years ago at ozzfest, even though im not one their biggest fans it was one of the best performances i have ever been to and would gladly see them again

oh and np norther - everything is an end

Honestly, I've never been to a concert, ever. Next time CoF is in town, I'm going to try to get to the venue so I can thrash around like a jackass.
 If your not gonna talk about metal, then stay out of the topic, Eagle-bitch.
lol
check out an old school weird group
Zen Guerilla

Trivium has been completely rocking my ass as of late. Go buy Ascendancy right damn now. These kids are barely out of high school, and they already have their chops down. I can't wait to see where they are 5 years from now.

I heard a song and it was damn good. I might check it out, Thanks Led! See, mods ARE good for something ;)

I'll have to go with some older Metal Bands, some hard some not so hard:

Helloween
Iron Maiden
Metallica (Anything prior to and including "And Justice for All")
Ozzy
Damn Yankees
Megadeth
Anthrax
Dokken

Agalloch is my current favorite band right now, but are they even metal? Who knows. My fav genre has to be the whole melodic death metal thing even though its kind of been beaten to death. Bands I've been listening to lately: old In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Opeth, old Katatonia, Diabolical Masquerade, Dissection, The Black Dahlia Murder, Mors Principium Est, Nightrage, Lilitu, Meshuggah.
