Okay...so this might be a stupid question. I won MGS2, MGS2 Substance, MGS3 and MGS3 Subsistence. Is there any reason to own MGS2 and MGS3 if I own Substance and Subsistence? Besides of course, collectors reasons.

Substance is the exact same as MGS2, but Subsistence changed the camera-views (for the better?). I gave my MGS2 to a friend after I finally found a copy of Substance.

Overall: Ditch the old ones if they'll only take up space.

Another question: Should I buy MGS3 just for the Snake Vs. Monkey game?

It's worth noting that the original camera view is still in MGS 3 Subsistence... you just press R3 and you're back to the original view. So yeah, there's absolutely no reason to hang onto the original unless you're collecting.

MGS 2 Substance is also a complete replacement for the original MGS 2... graphics were cleaned up a bit on the PS2 version (less aliasing it seems) and those 500 VR missions are surprisingly entertaining.

Don't also forget that Substance also includes Snake Tales. I think there was 5 of them.
thanks all...the originals will be on ebay soon
might as well try to trade them- you'll be lucky to get $20 for both.
