Metal Slug Collection - Comming to PSP

WOW.

That is all I have to say... just WOW.

PSP is really kicking ass lately with a ton of awesome 2D games. 5 games in one!!! I guess this means the port of Metal Slug 1 for the GBA is dead?

Holy crap, all 6 games in one package. I really wish they would have just done this for the Xbox release, but this is going to be a must buy for me.

This is actually the best news ever. I can't even remember how long I've been waiting for a US console port of Metal Slug 1 let alone an arcade perfect one... I can finally ditch the crappy PS1 port of MSX and having all the games on one UMD will be orgasmic.

Really, all I need now to be truly satisfied with life is a Castlevania Collection.

Wow, nice! This might cause me to go get a PSP. Though I'd prefer to play it on a console so maybe one day they'll release it on some console.

Nice. I just might have to pick up PSP eventually. Between this, Ultimate Ghosts 'n Ghoblins, and Exit I'm actually starting to become interested in the PSP.

How can they put all these games on one umd while Metal Slug 4/5 come on one dvd each? Possibly a stupid question I know.

Still great news though I'd drop 50 bones on this collection if they do it right, even if I could just emulate them for free.

each of those game is only about 400-500MB on PS2, so with a little work they can fit all 6 games on one UMD.

While this is nice, I already played those games to death. Hope there will be soemthing new instead of another port.

the arcade versions are between 30mb and 40mb, so it's dooable.

thats only if you are running a rom with neo geo emu. I would guess they would port PS2 version.

Well I'm guessing that with MS 4 and 5, SNK put those on separate discs because the Japanese Xbox versions were separate releases... so it's less work for SNK since they don't have to make a menu that lets you choose which game you want to play.

Unless the PS2 version is arcade perfect, I doubt that they'd use it.

yea but when is the last time someone go the extra mile for a port?

With the announcement of this, who wants to bet that SNK will cancel the 4 upcoming GBA versions of the Metal Slug arcade games?

Nah, I think we'll still get them. I think the first one was a remake of MS1 or something.

They're promising arcade perfect ports, so it seems that they want the games to be the best they can be.

Eh, they said it was coming out in December and then it disappeared off of the face of the earth. I don't even care about that anymore -- this collection's where it's at.
I guess this means the port of Metal Slug 1 for the GBA is dead?
Good question. I completely forgot about that.
I would wish they would port Metal Slug 6 sine it has my favorite KoF characters Ralf and Clark, but oh well...
Clark and Ralf actually originated from Ikari Warriors. Leona too.

yeah, I know, but they have slowly just become KoF characters since KoF is an amaglamation of different SNK games.

don't forget Monster Hunter and Valkrie Profile as well as almost every other port on the PSP.

NEWS suckas!

http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/top/kotaku-feature-snk-dishes-old-and-next-gen-191197.php

A localized copy of King of Fighters Maximum Impact 2 is brought in. The American arm of SNK requested a name change, and Falcoon suggested King of Fighters 2006. I'm busy playing my way through Metal Slug for the PSP.

"The PSP version includes Metal Slug, Metal Slug 2, Metal Slug X, Metal Slug 3, 4, 5 and 6 on the same UMD," Koyama points out.

Impressive.

"And we're thinking of selling it for $39 or $49 in the US. Which do you think is better?"

Which do you think I think is better?

"There's also a Wii version?" I inquire. "How different are the graphics?"

"They are the same. But it's going to be a launch title. We don't know the Wii's launch date yet, but we're think sometime in the middle of November, just before Thanksgiving."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope that they go with $39.99 as that seems to be the most reasonable. Even Tekken DR didn't crack 49.99.

Metal Slug 6 on the thing = awesome. This will be the greatest PSP game ever. EVER.

Still no details on whether or not you'll be able to play the Wii version without the stupid controller stuff turned on, so right now, the PSP version is looking like the one. God... this collection literally couldn't be better.

I love all of the high quality ports this generation.

You know, I had never played Resident Evil until it was released on the Gamecube?

Well, to be fair, it sucked on the PS1 when it was first released... it was kinda cool when it first came out though.

Gamecube REmake is so damn good though. I love my remakes and ports.

Look at Metal Slug 1 - 5 and X as a bonus to Metal Slug 6, not a port at all if you look at it like that ;)

It was awesome during the early PS1 generation. One of the games that really put the PS1 on the map. It's hard to go back to it after REmake tho. I love my quick-180s...

Shit, it's even harder to go back to any RE after 4.

I'm definitely buying this collection. I sold my copy of Metal Slug 3 on Xbox, since I knew I would get the collection. I might try to get rid of my copy of Metal Slug X (PS1) and my Metal Slug 4/5 (PS2).

Like Roufuss has said many times, there's no point in keeping multiple versions of one game, because you'll probably not play each version (probably just play one of them). ;)
Shit, it's even harder to go back to any RE after 4.
I never understood this reasoning. RE4 is great, but it's like a totally different game to even be compared fairly to the originals. I played through Zero and REmake after I had already beaten RE4, and I enjoyed them both a lot. They're just different types of game with different objectives and overall gameplay. Even though it's in the same series, it shouldn't be compared. It's like comparing two games in two different genres.

If RE4 were called "Jumpin Wallaby Adventure", would everyone be saying "Shit, it's even harder to go back to any RE after JWA".

I just mean the shooting mechanic. It's hard to go back from a free look to a up and down range.

Man... If there was ever a collection officially worth owning

This is the one

http://pspupdates.qj.net/Metal-Slug-6-joins-Metal-Slug-Anthology/pg/49/aid/67061

So MS6 is officialy a part of the PSP Collection. Thus making it the most important game I buy this year (if the emulation works out). I don't need any extras either. Having 7 MS games working flawlessy is more than enough already.

METAL SLUG 6 YALL! IT just came out to the PS2 in Japan! Ish is bananas! I may start crying when I get my hands on this game. Only reason to own the PS2 or Wii version is for co-op play.
