BREAKING: Metroid Pack-In Game Included With The DS
Along with the exciting DS news sprouting in the gaming circuit comes another juicy news tidbit.

Japanese game giant Nintendo announced Tuesday that its forthcoming DS (short for Dual Screen) portable game system will launch in the United States on Nov. 21 for a retail price of $149.99.

"Nintendo's price will include a pack-in game called Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt as well as PictoChat, communications software that lets users send messages and drawings to each other."
"We're really excited about the price," says Nintendo vice president of marketing and corporate affairs Perrin Kaplan. "That kind of pricing makes DS immediately attractive to the mass market, and that is where Nintendo needs to be."

i was just looking to see if anyone posted this. THink about it 30 for the game say 15 for the chat thing the system is only 99 bucks WOW

Nintendo should make 2 packages

CORE For 119 or with game for 149.99

the game will be worthless since everyone will have it. (i mean selling not playing) GOIng to call Ebgames and Gamestop to see if there are going to do a TRADE IN YOUR SP FOR DS Deals
Woah...a major release included with a well priced system...im scared...
I hear that. It's been a long time since a system has launched with ANY game, let alone a top tier one.

Well, that settles it. I was going to hold out for a while for a price drop (also to see the PSP) but it looks like I'll be getting this on the first day.

Bad news about XMAS. this thing will probally sell out the first week and will not be restocked till Jan. the thing will fly like hotcakes Friday after thanksgiving. ANyone remember the year sega dropped the Dreamcast to 49.99 that day.

PRos and cons of the to buying though

Pro only 150 with game
Con just got a Sp for 70 bucks July 14 2004

anyone know if the DS is backlite like the sp on both screen and how much the battery life is. there are just too many questions to run out and buy one....

what kicks butt though i got 240 at one gamecrazy and 90 at another gamecrazy . I might try to get my 90 up 60 bucks and just use the 150 credit over there and resell the system for more around xmas lol
Woo! I had exactly $150 set aside for this thing! I'll be waiting in line on launch day ;)
Same here Preordering mine today now... Or should I wait????

That's the first intelligent thing I've ever heard you say. I'm not really looking forward to this new Metroid, at least multiplayer wise. Anyone know if Hunters will have a single player mode as well? If so, my interest may be renewed.

Goddamn Nintendo. I bought an SP almost a year ago to the day, and a year before that a GBA. Then they come along with this even sexier, more powerful system that can actually take advantage of the Wi-Fi network in my house. I'm just gonna mail them my paycheck with a letter that says "You win, for I am weak."

I'm definately going to order DS but has anyone noticed that the launch date of Nov. 21 lands on a Sunday? It just seems like a weird day to do it since they usually wait for a either a tuesday or at least a weekday to release new products.

anyone want to take a guess what the metroid game will go for

buck two bucks....

anyone remember how much credit the last pack in game got (meaning i dont want the game at all and sadly noone else will either )

If Metroid has a single player campaign I will have to get this, just hope I can trade my advance in towards it.

Ebgames have said they will do a

Trade your SP FOR DS staring sometime in Oct.

I called 3 this morning I heard anywhere from 79.99 to 99.99 trade in depends on how many games u give them ( that is you need to give them your SP + 80-100 bucks)

bad thing is i just got my SP at BB FOr 70 on JUly 14 2004, but the thing has a burned out pixel so im hoping I can take it back and get a 70 buck coupon and use that towards my DS. If not i will get it at gamecrazy.

just found out some news THE WARRENTY WILL NOT COVER Scratches to screen. Man that touch screen is going to get bad looking in a few months

You never know, you may end up liking it. The DS would sell for $149 with or without it, so there's no use in complaining about trade in value.

I dont want it cause I think its a first person shooter. I cant play first person shooters ( i have the FIrst person shooter sickness, that is where you get sick when you play them)

SO i will have no use for the game. LOL I should call up nintendo and complain that many people will have no use for their pack in game and could i get another game

Yeah, I just noticed that too.

I would preorder it, but the credit I have is at Best Buy, which usually doesn't do pre-orders :? Looks like I'll be standing on line from 6AM that Sunday...

doesnt Best buy do preorders? it those stupid pieces of paper over by the game part. I think i seem them selling DS at my BB.

Put 5.00 down reserve your DS

It will be more than $5. Hardware reserves are usually from $25-$50.

Well, according to Nintendo.com the DS is only going to be released with pictochat built into the hardware and not being released with metroid at all. None of the other websites I read have mentioned anything about metroid being bundled either. But, gamespy.com announced battery life of 6-10 hours with charging taking 4 hours.

no im saying i think i saw this last sunday at my BB. Unless it was for Ds games ... Then again i dont think BB does preorders cause I remember standing outside at 10pm Waiting for my bb to open at 10am to get the PS2 (it was the only place in the city that had them without preorders)

FUnny thing is i got my ps2 at 10am (after waiting 12 hours) went back at 2pm and they still had a pile of them got another one and sold it on ebay for 600
BOMB! hopefully this sets a new trend of including games when youb uy a system... like the good old days!
That's exactly what I was thinking.

"Consumers immediately will be able to pick up and play the new system, as it comes with a free software feature, PictoChat, embedded in the system hardware. PictoChat allows DS owners to write messages with an on-screen keyboard or the stylus and send them wirelessly to other DS users nearby. Users can text chat, draw artistic messages or share secrets, all without saying a word. And a Nintendo DS in sleep mode will spring to life if it senses another DS in transmitting range, alerting users to each other’s presence and setting the stage for an impromptu conversation or game session." -Nintendo.com

I dont see anything about Metroid being included even as a demo...
NEW NEWS

THE metroid game IS a DEMO not the WHOLE Game. Got this info from nintendo themself

ITS A DEMO ONLY
Ummm, how bout you post the actual email or whatever you received from them.

Dont expect sony to do anything got till march to see the PSP and now rumor is PSP wont till til XMAS 2005

I called Nintendo on the phone They SAId DEMO
I dont see anything about Metroid being included even as a demo...
Well, if Nintendojo is saying it, you can pretty much count on it. They are an official fansite of Nintendo, and I believe Nintendo bought them not too long ago.

I'm sure they are privy to things most news sources aren't considering their relationship with Nintendo.

Nintendo must be taking the PSP threat seriously to include a pack-in game. Good move, and hopefully it will be a return to the old days as others have said. It will be weird to see a game other than Mario as a pack-in for a Nintendo system though. I think Tetris was the only other non-Mario pack-in.

As a note...

If you guys are planning to get rid of your GBA SP for the DS, I don't believe the DS plays Game Boy or Game Boy Color games (I may be wrong, correct me if I am).

Thats the #1 reason im keeping mine. Also, its a japanese one, which makes it special to me.

Im also thinking of giving it to my mom so she can play the bubble bobble game coming out...that way i still have one, just in case

Goodbye PSP hello DS! I don't have a reason to buy a portable but it looks like Nintendo will not fall off top anytime soon.

Its a Demo packed in Not A full game....

ALso called up another ebgames too late to dump your system there

GBA 15 GBA SP 25 POCKET 5

they are nuts if they think im giving them my SP For 25

So, right now the DS will launch for $150 coming with a (hopefully long) demo of one of their big games, will be backwards compatible to the GBA but not the GBC and GB, come with a short-range messaging tool, will have graphics similar to the N64, and WILL BE $150.

I'll get this system at launch if this is true. Even without the game, the DS has such tremendous value that you just can't pass it up.

I'll still keep my SP because I have some killer Color and regular games...

Mario Golf
Super Mario Deluxe
Metal Gear Solid
Dragon Warrior I and II
Dragon Warrior III
Mario Tennis
Donkey Kong (killer game)
Metroid II: Return of Samus

And of course....

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

I do have two regular GBA's I may part with though.

Shit, my gf is gonna be upset when I buy that. Better start savin now.. at least halo2 is paid off.

I will buy one Just to resell at Xmas to make more cash ... if cant sell i just return it HEH HEH....

no if i cant sell it i probally keep it

Why is everyone jumping saying they are buying when no1 even knows how good it be
