Metroid Prime 3 - Do Mother Brains' Have PMS? - 9.5 From IGN!

[quote name='Strell']That's ok. I'm going to kick your kirby loving ass in Brawl when it comes out.

All will be fine at that point.[/QUOTE]

I don't use Kirby in Smash Bros. I use Ganondorf or Young Link mostly. I only like Kirby because of Kirby Super Star on the SNES.

On topic though, would you say Metroid Prime 3 is the best looking Wii game we have seen thus far?

[quote name='ananag112']I hate this.

Metroid Prime 3 and Smash Bros. Brawl are the only games I want on the Wii in the near future (I also have a 360). I called all around asking if they have a Wii in stock, but no store in 200 miles have the Wii. I swore to myself to not get the Wii until there are more quality games for $20, but I don't think I can resist. Damn you Nintendo.[/quote]Are you quite certain, sir?

I count 8 within 10 miles.

[quote name='Strell']I don't think either of us will, I hope, because he won't be in there.

Bitch can't beat Mario in the hundred meter dash?

Don't gots no time, don't gots no time.[/QUOTE]
Oh, he will be in there, and he'll be awesome.

And he let Mario win, that's the only reasonable conclusion.

That is what they say there. I called the ones near my house, and they don't have it. Maybe they are too lazy to check?

[quote name='ananag112']That is what they say there. I called the ones near my house, and they don't have it. Maybe they are too lazy to check?[/quote]Perhaps that area just loves the Wii... could be that the store with 4+ just got them in last night and they all sold out this morning. Strange to see almost every EB near me shows it in stock, I may have to call around just to check its accuracy.

[quote name='Cambot']Sweet Bethany, I can't stop scanning.

Any other scan junkies out there?[/quote]
Hell yeah, ever since the first prime I've scanned damn near everything. In fact whenever I walk into a room for the first time I always have my scan visor on.

So MP3 uses Wii codes? I guess I should update my gamertag and add friends now. So when my Target order comes, I'll be ready. Anyone wanna be my friend?

Scanning stuff is one of the easiest things to do in the game. I have no idea where these complaints come from. You hit (-) then point up then walk around and scan whatever you want. It takes me 1 second to enter scan mode.

Anway, I do find myself scanning a lot of things.

Scanning enemies is pretty annoying.

Scrubking: I'll add you next time I get on. Please do the same. :)

The extraneous scanning can be a bit much, but the interface isn't all that bad.

BTW, regarding the Wii update that happens when you put in the disc: It's not getting it off the Internet. The update is on the disc itself.

I had heard about an update, so I tried manually updating my Wii from the options menu before putting the disc in, and it said I was up to date. But when I first put the disc in, it didn't recognize it like it has games in the past, showing the title in the little channel window. So I clicked on the Disc Channel and it launched the (quick) update.

As a side note, I have humbly added the following people to my friend list:
Swingman, Scrubking, Oozer, Draccius, CouRageouS, Spaz-X, io, and Psunami.

I added the following to my friend list, also will PM you guys later when I have time

Gunm, Scrubking, SpazX, Rodimus Donut, Happy Panda, Callandor, Tybee, Strell, Botticus, Courageous, psunami, and Seanr.

My code:

0507 9683 7937 5236

I'd be happy to send you all vouchers and recieve some. Loving this game. I'll keep adding people too, just didnt' have time to get through the whole thread. PM me if you add!

I'll try to add the couple of people who have told me they added my code. But yeah. No promises =/ Sorry. I just hardly turn my Wii on, and even now I'm actually playing on my parents (yes they have one).

I scan EVERYTHING. It's not even fair. Oh well. I've got to get 100%. I even restarted an area so I could scan something.

This game is really sweet. I mean, REALLY sweet. After getting through a couple of troubling boss fights, I am getting to the true meat of any Metroid game. And it feels very rewarding to do so (I died like 11 times on Veteran, but I did it!).

Also, take some time to notice VERY SUBTLE things visually. I think you'll be surprised. I'm not going any farther than that.

I hate scanning, I feel to obligated to scan everything. At least that's how it was on Prime 1. Updated my sig, now with 10% more wii code. Anyone wanna be friends?

I've sent vouchers to everybody who has sent me one and some who haven't yet, so total I've sent to: Tybee, io, botticus, hack (that's what it is under my address book anyway), Starky, and clockwork.

I'll add the people who aren't on my address book tonight.

[quote name='Cambot']Sweet Bethany, I can't stop scanning.

In the first MP, I was never one for scanning, but with the voucher thing in place I just can't stop. Quick question.

I forgot to scan
Ridley
. Am I screwed or what!?

So being the one person who isn't playing this yet (not by choice, mind you), what's the veteran difficulty setting most comparable to? Is it like the default difficulty of Metroid Prime 2? I played through MP2 this summer and didn't find it all that difficult, so if that's what Veteran's like, then it seems ideal.

I had the same thing happen - it was wierd, but it makes sense now that it was on the disc. What did the update do. I think I noticed a new feature - now when I have a new message the little mailbox thing at the lower right pulses and makes noise when in the channel interface.

On a completely different topic, it seems people universally bag on the MP2 multiplayer mode. Well, my two boys happen to be playing that right now and from the sound of it (2 rooms away) they are having a blast. (2-player splitscreen, just going after each other). My older son remembered that we played that briefly when MP2 first came out (and I never played the single-player game on that one). When we played MP3 last night he asked about it again and, I guess, got his mother to load it up today ;).

Corruption is nowhere near as hard as Echoes. It's not even as hard as the original Prime. Part of it is because of the new controls, but also too many people complained about the difficulty of Echoes and so Retro tuned it down.

Okay I have added the following people, a couple got PMs but as of right now you are all gray -
daroga
Strell
SpazX
Happy Pandy
Scrubking
Doomed
Callandor
Tybee
jer7583
KingBroly
botticus
chacrana
io

Add me back guys. I'm not even sure everyone I added has the game because I think I just went down the line of the last couple pages  But hey, it doesn't hurt to have more Wii friends for whenever they decide to let us do things with it.

So with the vouchers feel free to send me a couple. I'll return the vouchers in equal amounts i.e. send me 3 I'll send 3 back.

I didn't even know you added me. We really need to give warnings about this sort of stuff. Too bad you can't message strangers >_<

Zen Davis, try playing it on Veteran. After the 3rd boss, it starts to nuke you like no tomorrow. At least it did for me.

As for the disc update, I have NO IDEA what it did. The message thing was already there FYI. That came in the last update. My only guess is that it has to do with sending Friend Vouchers via WC24.

My guess was that it allowed MP3 access to your friend list and WC24 as well...

Also, I added:

io
CouRageouS
clockworkgreen

I'd be glad to trade vouchers with any of ya as I earn them.

Possibly, though Elebits did this in December without any update...

I'll add you in next chance I get (just did a big bunch of people).

The update makes the game compatible in some manner with your Wii. If you somehow manage to take the update off, the game will not load up.

I was thinking maybe the update might change that warning screen before the game starts. Its a new animated one. I haven't played anything else besides Metroid since yesterday, but I 'll take a look later.

[quote name='Chacrana']what's the veteran difficulty setting most comparable to? Is it like the default difficulty of Metroid Prime 2?[/quote]
I think it's about like normal mode on MP2. At times it seems slightly harder, but maybe I'm just a wussy.

Nope, I checked Zelda and it's still the old one.

Though I love the "space warning" picture where the guy is smacking a chick and knocking down a vase. The vase actually looks like a baby to me.

I got the bumper sticker upgrade. It seems like they're only for Nintendo games, (Wii Sports, Warioware, Paper Mario, Zelda.) Now that I think about it I shold've gotten the Picture Taker.

That's what I chose first. Almost got myself killed trying to take pictures of the first boss on Bryyo. A little disappointed though, the pictures aren't that big when viewed on your message board. Still a 'neat' addition I s'pose, could come in handy for giving tips for others.

Thanks to you guys (and playing for about 4 hours tonight) I got the screenshot tool and the mii bobblehead. The bobblehead is so awesome, I could poke it for hours.

BTW, if anybody wants me to send them a screenshot of me poking my bobblehead*, let me know :p.

I got 5 more vouchers tonight so I'll add everybody to my list that added me and send out vouchers tomorrow.

EDIT: Alright I added CouRageouS, jer7583, Callandor, Oozer, and Scrubking, you'll all get a friend voucher tomorrow afternoonish (unless you haven't added me). I'll PM you all.

EDIT2: Alright everybody is PMed besides CouRageouS since your PM box is full :p.

*pictures not of a pornographic nature

Oh crap. I cleaned out my inbox. I'll send one as soon as you show up on my list.

Is there an in game list of emblems you've earned? It would really suck if there wasn't.

I added:

A Happy Panda
Callandor
CouRageouS
Doomed
jer7583
KingBroly
Rodimus Donut
Scrubking

Already had most of the other folks. Sent out 5 or 6 friend vouchers. I like how it shows how many you've recieved from who, so you can make sure you repay them. What do you get yellow tokens for? Killing bosses? Those seem to be the hardest to come by.

Just got the grapple swing. Fun!

CouRageouS - I sent you a second, since for whatever reason (feeling especially nice? :)) you sent me 2. Returning the favor since I bulked up on vouchers at that bug pit on Bryyo.

Added Chacrana and Rodimus, working on some others. Feel free to add me as well :)

If you added me before, like around launch time, I have a new wii, so you'll have to add me again.

p.s. this game rules.

Yellow tokens pop up for killing bosses and finishing some key events, but I've also gotten them on occasion for other "special" instances.

For example, at
Skytown, there's a path you can only cross using the screw attack. I found a red variant of a phazon enemy, and killing that unique got me a yellow.

I'll add Tybee and Apossum to my list, and will get some more vouchers sent out later.

And I think I'm starting to understand reviewers mentioning the easiness of the game. I just killed
Omega Ridley, the final boss of the pirate homeworld
, and it wasn't that hard at all. You just need to learn when you can absorb energy in boss fights (go hyper mode!) and learn how to deal with all the attack variants. I've had more trouble on large groups of pirates than most of the bosses. But those bosses are fun.

And for those who have played through a good chunk:
Samus just looks more and more badass with each increase in Phazon corruption! Never thought I'd say a neon purple/blue color set is badass. And watch how her eyes change in the scan visor; at the point I'm at, Samus is starting to look a little too disturbing...

Anyone else have their RE4 instincts kick in? When a pirate is jumping at me, I have the urge to swing the control to knife them. Samus needs a knife.
