So what are your thoughts on the update of the original NES version. Personally it seems like another great addition to the ever growing Gameboy library. Also just the fact that the game does not end after battling Mother Brain, but you continue to explore the Chozo civilization is something that most certainly will keep it interesting.
It actually seems that M:ZM will certainly be more than just another update. What do you guys think? Should a game be left in it's original form such as the Mario Advance games (yeah they look a bit prettier but nothing major changed). Or if they are going to update a game, do a whole make-over? Or stop focusing on these remakes and focus on more new franchises?

I'd hate to dissapoint you...but M:ZM is not a FPS...even Metroid Prime I wouldn't consider a FPS...more of a FPA.

Edit: LOL...sometimes it is good for us to know some of the inside jokes...cause I thought you were confused heh. I understand what you mean now. :D
Edit 2: Man what the heck was kittycatgirl smoking

I wish they would concentrate on new games instead. I want new Mario and Zelda adventures. I want a new Metroid where they dont lead you by the hand throughout the entire game. I want my new Earthbound too dammit!

Earthbound...wasn't the new Earthbound due with Mother 1 for the GBA? Definetly a new topic should be made for that, I am still waiting for Mother 3

Actually I like the fact that they're taking the time to freshen up an old favorite that, if they play their cards right, could become the new Nintendo mascot seeing as they;ve been talking about replacing the mario's because they contribute to their "youth image problem" so to speak.

Plus the original game deserved to be fixed up since there are things you couldnt get without doing things that where un-natural. (anyone else remember the thing what you have to get trapped in the door and keep jumping to go through the ceiling to get to certain parts?)

only stupid people would want to replace Mario and such

"waaaah I am a stupid loser who cares what others think about the size of my penis when I play video games. Anything not dark and bloody is for kids. My mother's labour was a waste of time. Please kil me and thus improve humankind's gene pool"

Metroid has always been one of my favorite Nintendo series. I personally can't wait to see what happens after defeating Mother Brain(according to NP there is more)

also I wish NOA would start publishing more of the original stuff coming out from Japan. There is tons of games that remain over there for no reason(Legend of Starfi). We should all picket NOA until Mother 1+2 come out(j/k I just really want these)

Sadly, Denis, they wouldn't have concidered it if it wasnt a problem for them. I don't beleive they'd out right dump them as they've had a strong following regardless of nintendo's image, just push them as secondary to a new star.

What's with the obsession of saying the GC Metroid is not a FPS. You really think it has more in common with the original metroid than it does with other FPS games? I love it, I think it was a great transition, but get over it. Just cause it became a FPS doesnt mean it had to suck.

LOL I am so funny?!!

Since I wasn't a big fan of the original Metroid I can't say that I had an opinion either way. However, now that I've seen the Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes trailer, I have developed one. Classics should be left alone. Period. Don't fuck with them. Leave people with their good memories. Don't leave them wishing you wouldn't have fucked with it. FOR GOD SAKES LEAVE THEM ALONE!!!!

I disagree entirely, after I saw the TS movie, It made me finally decide to buy a Gamecube. I do think only some games can be redone, and since there are only 2 with drastic changes so far, and they both look amazing, I am in favor of them so far.

Well it seems people do not mind playing a game they have played all over again as long as it is completly re-modeled and have more to make it yet another unique experience. I have to say I agree with it, it bring back great memories of the old game, and new memories will be made with the improvements. Also a new generation of gamers will be able to play wonderful games we grew up with and actually appreciate it, instead of putting it down because they are "old, sucky and look crappy".
I am definetly all for the remakes of games, as soon as they offer more than just pretty graphics.

True you can play the actual original version, which is why M:SM definetly has to be completely changed, plus lets the game extend beyond fighting Mother Brain...so it can provide a new experience and not just the exact version we are used to.

1. Zero Mission will at least be infinitely better than Metroid Prime

2. Metal Gear is not a classic, so that argument is moot

3. Needs an updated Clash at Demonhead

I was refering to Metal Gear Solid. It is a classic.

I was referring to the entire metal gear series. They all suck.

If i were Scott Bakula in Quantum leap, I would go back in time and kill kojima before he could introduce the stupidity of stealth video games to the world.

So Scott Bakula can actually rip through the Fabric of time?!! No shit? I agree there needs to be a Clash at Demonhead remake that would be great, and I think the Metal Gears were classic except maybe for the third one Snakes Revenge that one sucked.

I love the idea of remaking/updating games for the current generation. Resident Evil for GCN was pretty cool and I am looking forward to Metroid:ZM. The originals are always going to be there if I ever wanted to play them in their unmodified form...

Well I guess Nintendo are gonna making both the ones who want re-makes to be kept in their original form, and the ones who want a different and better experience.

- You get of course Hard Mode, for those who want a challenge.
- Yet another game that allows you to play the original old-school Metroid. (Good for fans who have Metroid Fusion but not Metroid Prime or vice versa.)
