CAGiversary!
i was wondering if anyone knew how good this game is going to be and if they are going to pick it up when it comes out, i read an article in gamepro and i liked it, anyone have any opinions?

thanks,

hM

everyone knows how good this game is going to be....you should probably consider surrendering yourself into a psych ward for asking such a question...thats like asking if ummm...oceans have water?

So far I haven't read anything spectacular about this game.

I think the whole camo % is a gimmick as well as having to hunt for your own food. I mean snake went through 2 games and now all of a sudden he needs camo, face paint and food? It was stupid enough that his security was dependant on osp(will never happen), but now this?

All I know is that if the cut-scenes or talking is as long or longer than the gameplay I won't be getting it until it hits rock bottom $.

I have no doubt that this game will be exactly like the other MGS games. While this isn't necessarily a bad thing, I do think it will start wearing thin in this game if they don't add anything substantial.

I think that is why they are including camo, face paint and hunting - all gimmicks imo.

I think the metal gear series is a tale of how a good story took precedence over good gameplay. Part 2 was almost a movie for goodness sake.

I can't wait for this game! Metal Gear Solid is my favorite video game series of all time. The new jungle gameplay has me worried a little - what if wandering through endless fields of grass/trees gets monotonous and chore-like after a while? On the other hand, this is MGS. I think Snake Eater will probably be a superb game, like its predecessors.

Yeah I'm not too crazy about hunting and using camouflage.

I mean, sneaking around is great; getting behind a guy and snappin' his neck. But now... I gotta pretend I'm a pile of leaves or part of a log.

That pushes the depths of even my own patience.

I think the gimmick of hunting and hiding could be cool. Hopefully the vision of the enemies won't be so shitty this time around. Still, I have a very long list of games that I have yet to play and want to buy, many of which come before this, primarily due to the shortness of it. Until it becomes $20-30, I won't get MGS3. Hell, I didn't buy MGS: The Twin Snakes and my name's in it.

^ Well yeah it could be cool, but just thinking about it... makes it seem like it'd become very repetetive after a while.

Well, you think the camo and hunting will be repetitive? Then I guess shooting in aliens in Halo is repetitive, as well as going in ovals on Nascar 2004. This camo and hunting concept looks like it's gonna be an essential part of the game, so therefore it's probably not gonna get repetitive. It's kinda like when you first start an RPG with random battles, you dread the time when the opening cutscenes stop and every ten feet you walk you're engaged with an enemy. But you continue playing anyway.

The game doesnt look bad, i just hope they dont trick us again and make Snake only playable for the first 10 minutes and gay Raiden takes over.

That's true.

Besides, I won't have a choice; I'm not gonna let $50 go down the drain.

Yeah, of course you continue playing, but that doesn't make it any less repetitive. I mean, I played the Drakengard demo recently, and I found it boring and repetitive after the first two or three minutes, but kept playing anyway. In an RPG, you keep playing to see where the story will go next, which is why I'd still trudge through MGS3 if it was boring as hell - I want to know the story Kojima is trying to tell.

Precisely. Which is one reason I just bought MGS2 for 4.99 in mint condition.
