MGS HD Collection down to 39.96 for PS3 version!

These hd collections plummet in price pretty quickly, but what's with this newegg deal? and doesn't amazon have no taxes... at least for the rest of this year?

The price also applies to the 360 version, FYI.

@Velo214 There was a deal to buy $40 gift cards/credits for $20 at Newegg yesterday for about 50 minutes.

google had a groupon thing yesterday, 20 for 40 at newegg

and im taxed at amazon but not newegg, so i can get MGSHD for 29.99 out the door at newegg, but if they drop it to match amazon, itll be only 20

It hasn't been on sale yet, and I'm dying to finally play Peace Walker

BUT I can't decide if I should jump on it now or wait for $30. While I absolutely love MGS & still have $100 in credit I still have a backlog, and already own 2 copies of both 2 & 3.

I bought SoL and SE 3 different times for PS2. Once I even got MG 1+2 with Subsistence. I think this has to wait for sub $20.

:(

I paid 50 and i don't regret it, but I'm a MGS-fanatic....

But there is a ridiculous amount of value in this package. MGS2 can last you a good 40 or so hours if you do the VR missions + campaign. Peace Walker...well...my brother logged ~130 hours on the PSP version before proclaiming he was done. MGS3 contains MSX-emulated versions of the first 2 Metal Gear games too (plus, well, MGS3 is the best in the series, and benefits the most from the 'HD' upgrade. It could hold its own against current-gen games.)

I managed to get one, and my brother did as well before a few SD users abused the hell out of it buying 10+. What's funny is that Newegg caught up on them stacking codes and cancelled their orders.

Crap this is near tops on my want list but i have R3 coming in from amazon today. I would play MGS right after I finish R3 campaign though.... Need to debate if I may find this cheaper with xmas around the corner. Im so conflicted. Ohhh noooeezzz!
yeah, waiting for the $20 mark since I've already played them. Also have a backlog..
i had all the collection. may waits till it drop down $19.99 or less (target clearance) :)

since the 360 version was already 30$, i refuse to buy the ps3 edition for any more than that. amazon needs to visit this forum more and act accordingly.
yeah same here.. maybe arround 25
yup, best buy took all my money. too bad, amazon. i'll bite when it is $30

I'd be in for $30. Though, I'd probably get $50 worth of game out of it since I've only played a few hours of PW and virtually none of the others. MGS1 was really the only MGS game I've played. But, thanks for the heads-up OP.

29.99 is probably as high as I'll go on this one, sadly. Despite the fact that I've been looking forward to this, I know it will go lower. Heck, I'd be willing to wait if I was sure that it would go to 19.99.

Yeah, we have remember that these games are old/remakes. Even if they are "HD" now, Developers know that these won't sell like new games.

I've played these games and so most who are into MGS probably have.

So i think we will just wait out... and maybe..... if we are in the mood to REVISIT MGS, we'll buy.

But MGS RISING is coming soon so.....

I bought the MGS collection when they released that a couple of years back. I never got around to playing it. I'll probably buy this too but I'll just wait it out this time. No need to rush.

What 360 version, MGS is a PlayStation series. ;)

I'm waiting to get my hands on the limited edition.

I have a feeling this will drop a ton. MGS games really don't hold their value for some reason (except for the LE versions). Tons of used MGS2 and MGS3 are all over the place, MGS4 is a dime a dozen out there, and MGS: The Essential Collection dropped like a rock.

Don't get me wrong, these are amazing games. But like Halo, these games drop in worth really quick and will make a great cheap pickup a few months later.

I bought alot of games already. So it wouldn't hurt to wait. But if this was the LE then that's a different story. LE of MGS games are hard to find and gets rare pretty quickly.

i know what you mean.

I've only beaten MGS1 & 4 but I can say without a doubt those two games really set the standard for what i expect from a video game masterpiece. I've been so hyped over this collection but the hype has died to the point where now I'm content with waiting for 29.99.

hope it's soon :bouncy:

Then your're going to be pleasantly surprised when you play 3. I felt that was the highest point in the series and one of the best games of the last gen.

Yeah, these HD collection seem to drop like rocks. I bought Sly for $40 plus $15 coupon @ Kmart, it was down to $20 or less before I had a chance to get to it. Learned my lesson, will wait for $20-25. I also bought the ps2 collection for $30, and never really played them. Time to buy them again! :/

MGS3 is definitely my favorite game after FFVII (I loved FFVII for sentimental reasons. I think I did over 20 play throughs for this dang game)

In terms of story telling and sheer raw emotions, MGS3 takes the cake.
The boss battles are also incredible...

The 60's killed the game for me.

After MGS2 when
Raiden was unveiled as the main character 1/3rd of the way through, I wanted a full game with Snake as the protagonist. But didn't get one until Guns.

But that's just sour grapes since they're the same person basically anyway.

I didn't like the stamina meter either. :/

If you're a fan of stealth/action games, this is worth it whether you're buying it for the second time or the first time. The games are great and there's plenty of gameplay, even without multiple story playthroughs thanks to the ridiculous amount of VR Missions included with MGS2.
I still have MGS3 and mgs4 in my backlog. lol/fail
Surprised you haven't jumped on MGS3 yet, by looking at your trophy card. MGS3 is an easy platinum, I got it in four days of casual playing with some preparation (list of all the frog/animal locations).

But but did you finish the 3rd one??? The ending is incredible...

I remember I was turned of by mgs 3 at first, coming form mgs2. I didn't touch that game for awhile. I hated the new camera view, the radar and the stamina meter.

But when i got back at the game, it grew on me and was surprise how addicting the gameplay is. Then played Peace Walker and it was even better.

PW trained me on how to effectively use the smoke grenades. lol. I barely used that stuff in every mgs game but a must on MGS pw. I can't wait to replay mgs3 from the experience I've learned from pw. Same with the CQC and the freeze technique.

sweet!

I'm also waiting for a sub $20 price for the HD collection. I remember getting the Metal Gear Solid Essentials collections for ps2 for $30. That collection ended up dropping a lot more in price.

C'mon I'm a die hard MGS fan. I own three copies. Lol of course I have.

Which brings me to another complaint. The pacing toward the end is bad. You fight Volgin, Shagohod, escape, escort mission (?!), then the Boss. It all makes sense in the exposition, but the fact that there were two boss fights and a motorcycle chase, then I had to walk slowly with Eva while fending off mooks really killed it for me. :(

I love CQCing the Boss and the pulling out a gun and shooting toward the ground wildly. :p
