Been lurking forever and finally have something to contribute. For those of you that were burned by Best Buy's drop in trade-in values and have a Microcenter near you, here's a possible alternative. Microcenter has some trade in values advertised on their website and in the new sales paper. Notice the trade in value for Crysis 2. I've never personally traded there so if anyone has please post your experiences.

http://www.microcenter.com/storefronts/gaming/used.html

YMMV, as some stores do not have trade-in capabilities.
Stores without trade-ins: 'Twin Cities/St. Louis Park, MN', 'Beltway/Rockville, MD' [add more when discovered]

Current trade in values as of 11/29/11 from the CAG community (Thanks fortunado for compiling and editing list)

(11/29/11) - Added some new values today. I overheard someone say that all the games MC buys get shipped off to their buyer and then redistributed among the stores that lack certain titles. At my store they will take one copy per game, per console, per day, per person. So it may be possible to just spread trades of duplicate games out over the course of a few weeks.

(4/1/12) - RAGE Anarchy Edition not being accepted at some stores due to UPC being different from what they allow (even though it is the "better" version). YMMV on this if the employee will override.

To keep the wiki current, try to enter the date you obtained the value.
The MC in Duluth, GA is aware of the Brink abuse. Don't even bother...
well that's quite hilarious. I just traded 2 brink in there the other day

brink x2 (1 on 2 different days) - $28 each
de blob 2 - 25
duke nukem forever - 15
crysis 2 - 25
rdr undead nightmare - 14
fear 3 - 25

all in westmont, IL. overall slow service, kind of hard to find someone to help, but very friendly once it happened. never had an issue. brink was traded in today at that price still. i'm done there, too far from my house to frequent.
you can add this too...or i guess I can lol

360 WWE All Stars $20

I was at the MH MI store today. Did a few single trades...Some douchebag made two trips with 28 more Brinks today and the staff is getting PISSED. The guy who helped me looked over my games with a fine tooth comb. He basically said he knew that this other guy was getting them for $5 and trading them in. AWKWARD :)
ppl that greedy is sick, sick, sick.

I took advantage of Best Buy's DOTD from yesterday to trade in my copies of Brink today. I spent $10.XX

Traded in 1 :ps3:Brink and 1 :360:brink for $53 at Microcenter without issue. I was also able to turn it into a gift card at Customer Service.

Thanks again CAG!
What in the hell is a Microcenter lol, I live in Minnesota by the moose and deer. Is it owned by Micro Machines?
There's one in St Louis Park, MN (Minneapolis).

I was informed by the dude working that they banned someone because of the brink issue. Cambridge, ma store. What a pain... They won't even allow me to trade in two of a title and it's my first time in.

I've gone to microcenter 3x over the course of this deal, so like ~ a month. There is nobody trading in. They have this sign in sheet and it's still on the same half-full page and I'm on there three times. I haven't done more than 1 of any title, but I think that probably looks suspicious. C'mon STL Cags, get up to microcenter!
you can add this too...or i guess I can lol

360 WWE All Stars $20

I was at the MH MI store today. Did a few single trades...Some douchebag made two trips with 28 more Brinks today and the staff is getting PISSED. The guy who helped me looked over my games with a fine tooth comb. He basically said he knew that this other guy was getting them for $5 and trading them in. AWKWARD :)
Why don't they just refuse him?

I just went in for my first trade to Microcenter tonight. It was one of the worst trade in experiences I've gone through in a while. Had the The Hunted, Naruto, Split Second, and a Brink. Told me no on the Brink, and I was fine with that. Hunted was $25, Naruto $25, and Split Second was $10. The guy starts looking over the games and tells me Naruto and the Hunted are in terrible shape, but Split Second's fine. I keep all of my games in my backlog sealed until I play them, or re-gift them. Just opened these in my car after confirming the values. Told this guy, "It's just by chance that the least value trade-in is the one that you claim is fine for trade-in? I'm cool, on keeping them all then."
Why don't they just refuse him?
That annoys the shit outta me. There's nothing saying one way or another, but I get refused (and I'm not trading in Brink). Then there are assholes that are still getting away with it.

They need a company-wide policy on what exactly their trade-in program's rules are.

Hmm....I did this very early on and only did 2 brinks. Someone else must have gone crazy...

Did my 1st trade tonight, easy n fast, walked out w/ 334. Yeah baby, only 160 away from an Ipad 2. Manager mandate is 2 max per game/system, jelly of whoever can do more. Wouldn't take my ps3 TW2 because system only have TIV for TW2 Temptation. Wouldn't budge even when I told him there is no such game called TW2 Temptation.

TIV from 12/10/11, at Madison Heights:

:360: Mindjack - $27
:360: Duke Nukem Forever - $12
:ps3: Brink - DENIED!

Guy rather rudely told me they don't take Brink, and he had to get manager approval for the other two. Told me it was a "scam" that people were buying them for $5 from Best Buy. Whatever.
actually tustin didnt take my friends brink 2 days ago (it was his first trade ever)

while brink was very profitable i hope people would stop flooding MC with them. if they end up with 100s of Brinks you are just forcing them to look into the problem. why rock the boat when tons of games have incredible TIVs
Hit up Tustin again today. Took 1 of each Brink along with a couple other games I had. Everything went smoothly.

Seems like it depends on the time you go and the CS rep that helps you. This was my third trip and only once did the CS rep give me a hard time about the trades (and I didn't have any Brink or red-flag type games that time). So still YMMV like everything else about the MC trade-in process...

What store was this? I had a guy like that yesterday that refused FEAR 3 and I opened it in the parking lot.

Also, i went back yesterday to trade in the games that were denied the day before because of condition. The guy was cool and took the following:

:360: TDU $15
:360: F3ar $25
:360: Dead space 2 $25
:360: SVR 11 $20
:ps3: NBA 11 $17
:360: Bulletstorm $17
:360: Enslaved $16

Unfortuantely, the copy of brink I had from the day before got rejected and now the managers must be called over to the trade in department for every trade in. Thank you fuck face that traded in 64 copies of Brink on 12/9/11. I have your name and address. I should give it out to everyone here. Oh yeah, I was at the Best Buy in SH MI last night and they were talking about this same douchebag. Apparently he was buying all of the Nintendo 3DS systems and then returning them to scam them out of the $50 Gift card. Sorry everyone else I will get off my soap box.

I really want the link to wherever you post it though...FYI;)

Post it, what an idiot.

Quit the frickin bragging in this thread.
MC will shut down the great trade in values a helluva lot faster than BBuy did! damn it enough idiocy in the BBuy thread, don't do it here ...

It's the bragging that "fires" up the idiot traders.

and Der, you're crazy, I wish my store was yours ....
posting the guy's name and address seems a bit immature.... but in this case, i'm for immature.
lmao, you're on a roll this week
Do they give you cash or in store credit or both?
It's store credit in a receipt.

Once you receive your receipt, you can take it to customer service and ask them to put it in a gift card. Pretty much all it is, is that you purchase a gift card for the value offered in the store credit.

There's no expiration date on the gift card, though you're charged money if there is a balance after 2 years.

Also I asked if the gift cards can be used BOTH online and in-store, and the associates were unsure. The gift card says it can be used in store, but the language is not clear if it's exclusively in-store or can be used online.

I've always wondered why someone who trades 50 copies of Brink to a store looks like. I always figure him to look like that pathetic fool I saw buying 25 copies of Halo ODST at TRU when they were giving away figures. (slovenly, bad haircut, knockoff "brand name" tshirt - like that ed hardy shit.)
It was the Madison Heights store. Brand new game, but he claimed it was in horrible condition.
Seems like they want to limit the amount of credit they are giving out now because of the abuse by said scumbag bringing in multiples of brink. So they are now denying trades at their discretion.

Chris is the guy who will deny games that are brand new. There are 2 other guys that are there that are very cool so long as you don't abuse the system. Chris declined a brand new fear 3 because the disc was discolored and the same for a mindjack. I wanted to buy a new game from them and open it and show him that all the new games are like that.

As far as the ass hat that ruined things at the MI store...I cant post his address as I am sure I could get in trouble for it. From what I have heard though he is quickly getting banned everywhere in town. I just hope that Karma comes quickly to him.

Right i have dealt with him on weekends while trading. Had a WWE SVR11 rejected because he said it was badly scratched. The other guys are pretty cool about things, never had a game flat out rejected by them. Oh well, i knew sooner or later that this would be ruined by someone and that's great news to hear that this person will be banned hopefully for a lifetime.

I don't get how these clerks are taking 30+ copies of brink and "getting pissed about it" why not just reject the f'n trades? I mean, the clerks around here crap their pants at 2 copies of the same game. Who are these retarded clerks that are taking 30 copies of the same game?

I had asked a couple of the clerks about this very exact thing and they were like well, our managers didn't have an issue with trading in all the same games. But as mentioned another clerk is giving people problems on brand new disc's claiming they are scratched and not taking in multiples at all. Guess it's YMMV on the clerk accepting a cartload of "brinks', but i am sure a memo will be sent out shortly to all stores about the brink abuse and not to accept multiple copies of any game any longer hence, another good trade alternative ruined by a few.
Not sure they have any overlooking the trade values besides the fact... Oh were losing money go find where type of thing... I was at the Customer Service desk and they were waiting on 3 people... they musta took in $20,000 in the minutei stood there... Each store probably rakes in million per day or more... So they can afford to lose $1000 to a few of us gamers... Guy in westmont said hardly anyone brings in trades...

No, the math is correct. 1 million x 7 = 7 million.

I just asked a 4th grader and she also confirmed it was correct.
I wasn't saying my math was wrong I was pointing out the flaw in his logic. If each store were to make 364 million a year they would be opening hundreds if not thousands of stores a year. Even with only 23 stores that means they bring in almost 8.4 billion dollars a year.

Do you people seriously not understand the difference between revenue and profit?

The stuff they sell costs money you know?

Edit: by you people I mean 1 person.

Why do you say that confoosius? He clearly did not debate about the 2 terms. He simply says the original post about a million a day is a straight exaggeration.

I was really commenting on the dude who said they took in 20000 while he was there so microcenter must be rolling in dough.

Business major who works at bank.. I understand it just fine. Even with factoring in their cost of doing business they would still be profiting at minimum 100 million and this is incredibly insanely low balling the figure of 8.4 billion. That would mean their operating costs and products cost them 8.3 billion dollars.

Edit: Saw you were talking about the original guy. I am curious though how he "watched" 20k dollars be taken in though as most people wouldn't be carrying around 7k dollars in cash or running a card for 7k as most peoples cards don't allow daily purchases that high for fraud purposes.

Hes on crack

How do you figure 8.4b? Latest financials I see in 2008 was 1.4b. They quadrupled revenue in 2 years in this economy?

As for the original dude, he didn't watch shit. He was just looking for a justification for flipping. Did 20 people walk in and buy MacBook airs? Must've been a record setting day.

He says thats what it would be with the number the guy on crack gave

I was going based off that guys math of almost a million a day x number of days a year x number of stores.

And he said he saw three people make those purchases not 20. So he saw 3 people buy 7 macbooks each. I'm sure by looking at all the locations on their website that every single one is built in million dollar neighborhoods.

TIV on the following Xbox 360 games as of 12/11/2011 at the Westmont, IL store:

Brink $28
Child Of Eden $15
Duke Nukem Forever $12
LA Noire (regular) $25
Smackdown vs RAQ 2011 $20

I already updated the wiki.

a million a day? lmao

bank p&l is dramatically different than retail ...

I was told that the Madison Heights store would not take anymore Brinks. Also I was told that a manager would have to approve all trades now.
