Been lurking forever and finally have something to contribute. For those of you that were burned by Best Buy's drop in trade-in values and have a Microcenter near you, here's a possible alternative. Microcenter has some trade in values advertised on their website and in the new sales paper. Notice the trade in value for Crysis 2. I've never personally traded there so if anyone has please post your experiences.

http://www.microcenter.com/storefronts/gaming/used.html

YMMV, as some stores do not have trade-in capabilities.
Stores without trade-ins: 'Twin Cities/St. Louis Park, MN', 'Beltway/Rockville, MD' [add more when discovered]

Current trade in values as of 11/29/11 from the CAG community (Thanks fortunado for compiling and editing list)

(11/29/11) - Added some new values today. I overheard someone say that all the games MC buys get shipped off to their buyer and then redistributed among the stores that lack certain titles. At my store they will take one copy per game, per console, per day, per person. So it may be possible to just spread trades of duplicate games out over the course of a few weeks.

(4/1/12) - RAGE Anarchy Edition not being accepted at some stores due to UPC being different from what they allow (even though it is the "better" version). YMMV on this if the employee will override.

To keep the wiki current, try to enter the date you obtained the value.
Still at microcenter, they definitely got a memo about brink lol
That's hilarious. The guy at my store didn't even care. I told him what I was doing. I used to talk to him at GameStop back in the day when he worked there also. I must have traded in 20 total over 5 days. He said there limit was 4 per copy per day without red flagging something. He also told me someone else had traded in 22 copies to his part time buddy. ... I was speachless.

I was going to give you a heads up about Brink at that store.

Last time I was there i only traded in 3 games, but the guy there was talking about refusing people who were "scamming" the system by trading in stacks of games they got cheap at gamestop/best buy... I didn't say anything (to avoid angering the trading gods), but all i could THINK was "It's not a scam if people are legitimately paying for the games and meeting trade-in rules for your establishment. Why don't you try better managing trade in values to control the economics. Rookies..."

Did he let you finish the trade? Did you get the friendly guy with the beard or the dark-haired kid who plays modern warfare professionally?
That's hilarious. The guy at my store didn't even care. I told him what I was doing. I used to talk to him at GameStop back in the day when he worked there also. I must have traded in 20 total over 5 days. He said there limit was 4 per copy per day without red flagging something. He also told me someone else had traded in 22 copies to his part time buddy. ... I was speachless.
brilliant, abuse the shit out of a good thing and brag about it...
if you must have traded in 20, you most likely traded in at least 22 so why speechless?

Because I took mine in in pairs of 2. 2 PS3, 2 360.... This guy took in 22 360 copies in one trip. I mean, how do you even explain that? Lol

I'm sure this went over his head also ...

He didn't take them (but took the other games I brought in), I traded in 3 copies of Brink the day before and the guy seemed cool enough so I didn't wanna push it.

Dark haired guy, who said he use to work at gamestop and went to school to be a game programer (doesn't seem to have panned out). He did tell me of a guy bringing in 15 copies of brink on Friday...goddamn it people moderation and spread it out.

Overall I'm at 450 in microcenter credit (on giftcards) I'm not gonna complain about being stuck with 2 brinks which will be sent to die at gamestop.

Anything more than one at a time looks suspicious. Is this not common sense?

At least Crysis is more likely to resell than brink, lol. I am jelly for those that have MCs nearby, would love to get a new laptop for cheap using these trade in deals.

Well I guess I'm done trading,. I had about 6 games to trade in but was told that a new policy had been sent in a memo of 1 game per console, so I ended up trading one xbox he and one ps3 game and my friend did the same for me. I bought my ipad with the credit built up and call it quits, not worth the drive there anymore for me
for those interested, crysis 2 is $10 at best buy right now, $25 value at MC. don't turn it into another brink though!
then don't frickin list it here! just feeding the morons...

and spreading out 10 is still 10 which from one person is just stupid to a 20 store chain

I guess you pick and choose who you want to come down on for putting out information you feel is detrimental to deals, glitches, flipping, etc. Not one word to Velo about the TRU "info" in the BB TI thread?

If you did so elsewhere, I apologize.

I already know what you're going to say. Me mentioning your not mentioning is bringing more light to it. Maybe that's why you didn't.

I have an idea...take one of your kidneys and sell it on the black market for $10,000. Then since you made such a great profit, do the other one!

We know people are lurking on here. Why are you making it so easy? I know you are just trying to help the regulars but, COME ON, MAN!

You pretty much just proved the point I was trying to make. Why do some folks get a pass and others get ish'ed on for doing the same or less?

Which store were you told this to? Some stores always did it, hopefully they don't limit to 1 per console.

This was at MC in overland park Kansas, the girl said that I could only trade 1 game per console, so I traded 1 ps3 game and 1xbox 360 game, instead of the 6 I was going to trade. They were not the same games at all actually so I don't know if it is YMMV or what but its alright I guess
A couple more TIV's

:wii: Metroid Prime Trilogy $7
:360: Warriors: Legends of Troy $50
$50!? Can someone confirm this?

Cambridge, MA.

One game per console. Per day/month/year? Oh you don't know? It's okay. Just tell me to come back another day and give me the same bullshit over and over again.

Never trading anything in there again. Gonna be such a bitch getting rid of all these extra games.

So you're mad at them cause someone abused the fuck out of their trade ins and they're overreacting to it? Maybe if someone hadn't traded in 50 copies of Brink, you wouldn't have had a problem trading in more than 2 games.

That's true some people abused it so I'm not surprised that this happened, I'm actually surprised that tivs themselves haven't dropped actually, I myself am done Trading there and I only got left with AC brotherhood and mafia 2 so it's not that bad

They can do whatever the hell they want with their program. TBQH it shouldn't even exist.

I'm mad because their policy is so nonsensical right now and no one can give me a straight answer.

If I go in next time and trade stuff in, they'll reject me because I've already traded in the "1 per PS3" and "1 per 360" the other day.

In my lifetime, I'm only allowed to trade in 1 title per console. Thanks. Solid program.

EDIT: I ONLY traded stuff here so I could get the credit for two SSDs that I need for a RAID0 setup. I told the guy working that I'm done trading in after this transaction, and he just said "come back another day". And this IS the second time I went in.
Yes, because I totally made it up.
LOL watch people are going to buy 10 copies of the game trying to trade it in

I thought the 360 version of the game got canned?

That didn't stop microcenter from putting a TIV on it.
That didn't stop microcenter from putting a TIV on it.
Heh, NBA Elite must have a similar TIV for it also.

I'm hoping that one game per console restriction isn't company wide. My MC has pretty lax employees and are always accommodating although I've always only traded one copy of a game at one time.
Unfortuantely, the copy of brink I had from the day before got rejected and now the managers must be called over to the trade in department for every trade in. Thank you fuck face that traded in 64 copies of Brink on 12/9/11. I have your name and address. I should give it out to everyone here. Oh yeah, I was at the Best Buy in SH MI last night and they were talking about this same douchebag. Apparently he was buying all of the Nintendo 3DS systems and then returning them to scam them out of the $50 Gift card. Sorry everyone else I will get off my soap box.
Oh for fuck's sake. This guy is a total loser. Thanks for fucking it up for everybody. What a pig. He probably looks like a total d-bag in real life. We have his name now too. Hahah.
So anyone know what Halo Reach gets ?

Adam, Josh ? Feel free to answer :)
Dunno about Reach, but the Tustin location has stopped taking Brink FYI...

Went by there today for my last trade-in and got the short Blond haired guy with the glasses that works with Adam. He's always been really cool and really helpful. He said they'd no longer be accepting Brink as a trade-in. So ended up keeping those and trading in RFA, Duke, and Hunted.

Also overheard him talking to a manager about the Trade-In Program and the manager said he wanted people to start taking their games elsewhere. Said some Asian dude had been in there trading games every day and they thought he was stealing them.
So whats the new trade in limits 1 game per person per day or lifetime or what?
It varies depending on the MC location you're going to and even the CS rep that helps you. There is no set limit in the trade program itself so it depends on what limits the stores and/or employees are enforcing...

Does anyone know what Microcenter is giving for a launch 20GB XBOX 360 and for a fat 40GB PS3? The 800 number said I have to call the store, and I waited on hold for a long time before giving up, and a subsequent message left for someone to return my call never did... My thinking is that if their trade in values for games are so good, maybe their trade ins for consoles are good too an better than Gamestop. But with Gamestop giving an extra $50 per console right now that sweetens it quite a bit.

Yeah i dont get how the trade in values @ Gamestop are any good... $50 per console extra towards trade in on a overpriced console... Really a crap deal...

Stopped by the Hadison Heights store last night. This time I did not have to have "manager approval" to trade in. I am thinking that when I traded in on sunday I had a copy of brink which set off a flag for the CSR person.

thats kinda impossible for the same guy to be going there daily. judging from their logbook they get about 2-3 people max per day and those guys are really anal about their trades so I doubt the same guy can be going there daily with diff games.

Find it very hard to believe most stores wont take Brink there sold out in most locations...
Or they have 1 copy left... Perhaps people just saying they wont take it so they can keep abusing while others think they cant take there copies in?
