Microsoft: "Online behavior of our customers is dramatically reducing our sales"
I recently popped CoD4 back in and went it alone with randoms. This kid was screaming about cake and then I shut it off and remembered why I stopped playing. Terrorist Hunt for the win!
Thats pretty crazy. Best one for me is when a guy was on the phone only to get dumped by his girlfriend on Xbox live. Would have made a great youtube video if i wasnt so cheap and bought a recording hook up for PC.

private chat ftw. i gotta say i don't play too much online unless i have a friend playing and when i do play online i typically mute everyone that i don't know. i do think it's gotten to be a big problem, but there doesn't seem to be much of a solution without banning people who paid (that wouldn't work) or cutting off communications entirely (neither would that). i would never let my kid play online as it is right now.
I really hate it when people talk on the phone while playing online. I do it quite a few times but I always have the courtesy to mute my mic.
I hate the people that seem to think they're auditioning for American Idol. If I want to listen to people who can't sing, I'll go to a Karaoke bar.

I'm going to try to make this statement as politically correct as I can:

I don't like non-ghetto kids trying to talk in watered down ebonics while making fun of similar non-ghetto kids who don't put forth the effort to talk in that manner.

So there.. if i still offended anyone.. tough diddles

lool, awww... poor M$.

RSV2 T hunt FTW!

And on that note it's time for me to inject my quote.

War is like fighting in Ice Hockey, it's pointless unless you're trying to see who has the bigger Cock.

My brother got dumped by his then girlfriend when we were playing doubles in Halo 3 once.

Needless to say we lost that match... but we were in private chat, so he only annoyed me.

It definitely gets annoying. Setting it to mute all but friends doesn't work for me as I play a lot with CAGs not on my friends list--impossible to add them all as the groups playing different games change over time. Plus I don't like having that damn person is online message pop up all the time.

There was one time where I was playing RSV2 T hunt, we were about an hr into playing and these guys were getting annoyed that I wasn't talking. It was actually quite entertaining to listen to them kinda like watching Jaywalking. Anyways, so I randomly turned on my mic and started talking. It scared the shit out of one player as he was rounding a corner and died. LMAO!

They are acting like every person who plays on live is a bad person. Personally, I rarely encounter a rude person in games like Call of Duty 4. However, some games, like Uno and Kane and Lynch seriously need to be cleaned up.

And as a side note, maybe if Microsoft enough, they would have in game moderators or something to keep the games clean. Instead they choose to waste their time going after gamesavers.

And God forbid you're a girl on live. Last night I ducked out of the CAG COD4 games because one of my girl friends has been asking me to play for weeks now and I finally I wasn't the host of the party so I could get out. She was pretty much verbally assaulted the entire time I played with her. It did allow me to have one of the best games I've ever had (38-6) because they were too busy harassing her to notice me killing the crap out of them. I swear every time I went to pull the trigger there would be at least +30 on my screen before I was done.

Well cheaters ruin Live just as much as rude douchebags. They're pretty much in the same boat if you ask me. Clean them both out, I say. Post haste.

Let's show them all and just stop playing video games! Then there will be no one to cuss at and harass and they will simply implode! Woot!

Ohh man aint this the truth! My hats off to any girl who uses a mic on Xbox live, your balls are bigger than mine. :applause:

What annoys me is when people want to chat...I'm not there to chat, I'm there to play a game. I hate chit chat. I prefer not to even use the mic, unless it's really needed by the game, but I don't play team based stuff very often if at all..

On the other hand, I have met some cool people. Especially in Rock Band.

I dont care whatever you guys say, a girl that plays video game is most likely a nerd and ugly. I know there are exceptions, but not enough for me to put up with them if there bitching. WOMEN LOVE TO BITCH and in video games they do the same. Flame away now.

Yeah, but you like "Heroes". Thus your views and opinions are invalid.
I dont care whatever you guys say, a girl that plays video game is most likely a nerd and ugly.
Sure, but you almost certainly are too. So it balances out. You should probably be thankful to be meeting some in your league since they rarely wander down into the basement.

Why not just ignore the idiots and play the games? Mute the idiots or something. I find it funny how most people are like "damn those idiots," but then they act like idiots themselves later on. You may not notice it, but you acting like yourself can be acting like an idiot in other people's perspectives.

too bad someone at microsoft doesnt come out and say, "our piece of shit consoles and drm issues are cutting into our sales"
i can mute douchebags on live, thats the least of my issues with the 360.

I've always been of the opinion of instituting the "harsh" ban policies of old eBay from many years ago if you've gone way too far on XBL. Let's say someone gets a third strike on their motto after a warning and a temp ban. Mr. Humor couldn't help it, he caught something mildly funny off of Mencia the other night (true, nothing's funny there, but this is a hypothetical).

At that point MS steps in with a ban, as per usual. However, they also ban the credit card tied to the account as well. As such, if little Jimmy wants to get back on the box that night he gets to do so through either another un-banned credit card or through the magic of a retail store every few months/years.

Harsh as hell, certainly, and it's still countered by people just buying new cards or popping out the 48-Hour Trials, but what fun is a banhammer if it isn't nice and heavy?
XBL needs online admins who boot out A wholes. Simple as that.
-EG
What would be even better is a way to get their addresses in real life. Now that is something i'd spend gamerpoints on.

QFT!!! A 65% failure rate, and draconian DRM policies will do alot more to hurt your reputation than some immature a-holes online.

The mute feature is there for a reason.

Assholes are a force of nature in everyday life, just gotta work on those coping skills. Brutal but true.
What would be even better is a way to get their addresses in real life. Now that is something i'd spend gamerpoints on.
Man, I'd spend a lot of points on that! Punching all the racist, homophobic shitheads hiding in anonymity would be worth tons of points.

People act like this is their first time playing games online. All the options are there to do as you please: Mute, ignore, feedback and quit. I mean, these complaints about racism and just bad behavior overall is really puzzling to me. Where do you think you are exactly? You think you're in some magical twilight zone where views of the real world are not relevant on XBL? Racism is the same online as it is off. Ignore, argue or leave and it's not real hard to leave. People shouldn't take it so literal really.

Now, I'm not saying this is what XBl is really like that at all. I rarely get match with people who are so annoying that I get disturbed by it, but it can all be remedied and very quickly. I don't want to play in a community that has racism and bullies, but bottom line is that maybe people just have a lower threshold for anger than I do. I mean, when Live first came out, one of the more appealing things about it to me was talking smack to other people. Lol.

And uh... I couldn't give a care about the casual market. Sure, you can play games of UNO with your friends and other lite games online, but imo Xbox Live isn't really for casual gamers if THIS is where they get put off at and not the competition and leaderboards.

EVERYONE KNOWS WOMEN LOVE TO BITCH, WHY BITCH AT ME. Also, some of us are normal people who are college students that are cheapasses because we dont have any money.

It's not like this is a phenomena which is restricted to XBL. There are always going to be idiots in every walk of life, not just video games. You just have to find the right people to play with and enjoy your time with them, just like you have to find people you can get along with anywhere else.

My two worst experiences with online play:
NBA 2K1 on DC, I was playing on a team by myself against another team with the maximum amount of players that can be on another team (probably 2). I whooped them in the first round 10-9. They paused the game for 10 minutes, I just turned the DC off.
Phantasy Star Online Vol 1 & 2 on XBOX. As soon as I logged in, I saw N***** on the screen. I just turned off the game and canceled the account. This was last year, so the game was pretty much dead anyway.

I really just depends on the game you play. Chu Chu Rocket had a good lobby. Aside from player behavior, the drop in notice in crackdown is really annoying.
But that's the attitude that lets them think it's okay. It isn't.
Exactly... I know there are assholes everywhere, but that isn't the point. The point is that people who know how to play nice shouldn't have to go out of their way (especially on a service we're paying for) to avoid people who are violating the TOS. It may only take 5 seconds to mute people, but it's the principle of the thing. Not to mention I don't want to play with a bunch of assholes, even if I have them muted... just knowing they're assholes puts me off :p

You give people an inch...

I know someone is going to follow that with some sexual joke... it's just a matter of time.

I haven't even played anything with stranges on XBL yet, partially because I'm afraid I'll suck , but also because of issues like this. And now, hearing what people have said about women voice chatting, I'm even MORE hesitant. It was bad enough when I tried out the Phantasy Star demo the other night, and had a bunch of losers hitting on my avatar, and sending me game mail trying to solicit me... and that was just in type :p

I find it ironic that your avatar is something from Family Guy, and then you post something like this. If anything, you are probably one of the annoying idiots.

 I'm assuming you're referring to the last line of what you quoted.... which was a joke, based on much prior experience here at CAG :p

I'm not sure why any interpretation of it would culminate in me being an annoying idiot, but you're entitled to your opinion.

I remember that one time I ran across you on Gears of War, and you were screaming at the top of your lungs, in your mic, along with your buddies.

If only you could have seen the impressed look on my face.
Last time I was playing Uno on Xbox Live some guy flashed his dong in the waiting room...
That shit happened to me too. my wife enjoyed it though.

Good times. Remember when your team got raped? It was hot and sexy.
Case in point^

And we lost by one round.
To be honest, all I remember was that it was Gridlock. I didn't know that we even won, but I assumed that if you were on the other team you must have lost.

Allow users to record X seconds in lobbies and such. Make sure the information recorded shows the Gamertag of who is talking and there you go. If little kids are playing an M-rated game, then this is evidence that the parents are doing a piss poor job. But it also is great proof as to who is talking shit, being racist, etc. And the great thing is it would be entirely legal considering a person has no problem talking trash in a public lobby to people he/she don't know.
