[quote name='gnychis']I am having a very hard time finding a *genuine* Xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver for the PC:

This connects the wireless Xbox 360 controller to the PC. I am not looking for the knock-off ones found on Amazon. Although the one on Amazon has a picture of the genuine receiver, by reading the reviews it is clearly not:

If you look at that link some of the higher feedback sellers they are selling offical one for $20

I just tried ordering a used one from Amazon Warehouse deals for around $20. I guess these things are prone to die, and so what does Microsoft do, stop making them I guess. So they've killed off most of the rest of the market and then they abandon it. Typical MS.

I got a Hong Kong special knock-off for $7 off ebay. Works like a champ. even uses the official MS drivers. Nothing but good things to say about it.

@Revenantae: Really? Give us a link to the specific one, if you could! Those HK ones usually require unsigned drivers and some don't even work on Windows 7. I imagine they are more reliable hardware than MS's though. I'd totally pay $7 for a differently made one that used the real MS drivers. Can you use the wireless headsets too?

And yeah, the official ones do die way too easily, turls. They are serious junk... mine died in a week when I bought it! And my ancient soldering iron from Xbox 1 modding days didn't work anymore so I ended up using electricians tape and tinfoil to bridge the fuse. It's an easy, if ridiculously stupid, fix. :)

I sure will. Thanks for this! Unfortunately, I already threw one out in recycling...

Leave it to MS to make a great controller but come out with junk to support it on PC.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post links here, but if you search for "Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows" on amazon.com, you should find a wireless 360 controller + the receiver at around $40.

I'm not sure it's the original controller, but I've seen kits like this at Gamestop in Sweden at least.

I've got controllers coming out of my ears. And if I was going to buy more now, I'd at least want the ones with the new D-Pad, which the ones that come with the receiver are not.
