Last I heard, they had 8,700 consoles on hand at TRU last night.
Went with a bunch of gamer goons (including my fiance Jeff), and it was
awesome. Despite not snagging much swag (not the good stuff, anyway-- hats and t-shirts), getting close to Reggie but not being able to ask for an autograph (busy man, he!), and most of the passers-by assuming we were waiting for the PS3 (WTF?!), we all had tons of fun. If you were in the area and happened to see the group by Foot Locker playing 8-10 player Bomberman, Mario Kart, and/or Tetris on DSes, that was us!
We were originally just going to buy a Wii and extra Wiimote/Nunchuck, but also snagged two Classic Controllers (sadly, Wii Points cards weren't available), and two games Jeff is interested in, Zelda and Rayman (both look good to me, but I'm especially looking forward to Elebits, Mario Galaxies, and Wario Ware, and want to take in some more Red Steel and Excite Truck reviews before deciding on those two. Oh, and I have a ton of other games to get through anyway

).
The line, by the way, extended from the entrance of TRU (our spot, by the adjacent Foot Locker, was claimed around nine in the morning) to at
least Fifth Avenue. And I bet everyone in line got a Wii that night!
