Might & Magic 6 Pack (PC) $10 at GOG.com

Has anyone bought from them before? These games actually run well in Vista? Amazing if they do... these are some of my favorite games of all time... MM3-6 are amazing!

Yes, yes, everyone who uses GOG.com loves it.

I dont know about running on Vista but I've bought from GoG plenty and I adore them.
DRM-free retro gaming makes me a happy camper.

Can anyone answer that question? GOG's website says they can, but I've got my doubts given how old the games are. :)

Man, that's tempting. 3-5 were all great games in their time.

Gothic Walrus, if GoG sells it, then it works on Vista. It's part of the website's point.

I've been waiting for these to come out. Yes, they run on Vista, I've been playing all of them today and my Vista had no problems with install or playing(running 32bit on an i7). One issue that I did run across though is the copy protection in World of Xeen. You have to use the manual to input the right word (remember those?) In the manual downloads they have the combined World of Xeen manual, not the individual IV and V. There may be a file that I just haven't found yet, but in the mean time I found this http://www.oldgames.sk/en/game/might-and-magic-iv-clouds-of-xeen/download/3555/ which is a .pdf that has all the words in an easy to find format. World of Xeen is one of my all time favorite RPG's and it's still fun to play today.

Would these be playable for me if I love Orcs & Elves and some older stuff like that (loved this one SNES D&D game that was 3D like these). I think I'd find these clunky or frustrating though...maybe?
Every game GOG.com sells has been reworked to run perfectly in Vista.
Are you sure World of Xeen has been reworked? cjunk74 mentions that they didn't remove the copy protection. If they've been reworked then I'll probably buy them, even though I already have all of them. I just love them so much.

The copy protection is part of the game though-it's an old style look something up in the manual thing. To remove it they'd probably have to have access to the original source code and do major work or something. There might not be anyone left who could reasonable remove it.

Considering that, I'd be shocked if you didn't enjoy this pack.

To anyone who has asked: Yes, every single game sold on GOG works perfectly on Vista (and 7, and XP, for that matter). Stop asking!

I played MM3 as a kid - obsidian and platinum FTW. It was fun but talk about a weird game to play as a kid. One minute you're fighting orcs the next you're being chased by killer robots. And at the time I thought the puzzles were hard.

BTW will this work in Vista?

I really enjoyed the second one when I was a kid. A very huge leap in quality (as opposed to the more subtle advances of the Bards Tales series entries.)

Cant speak on the last titles, but why on earth they decided to go with actual digitized people for the "character art" is beyond me. Looks like they grabbed a few losers from the local community theatre and dressed them up in cheap clothes.

Heads up to ECA members: your membership should be good for a GOG discount. Havent tried it on this myself, I got one on a past purchase. Use it the same way you do the amazon codes.

Also, GOG rules. I've gotten my fix of classic adventure games from them, and never had even a hiccup in game quality on XP.

I may be wrong but I think the ECA codes for GOG are one time use codes.

Yeah, I'm under that impression too. I used mine ages ago-but I mean it gets a big "shrug" from me, since at worst I'm paying a whopping $10 :D

I'd be totally open to paying more, if publishers ever want to put newer stuff on there, use it just like Steam or something, but without the activation crap. I mean throw up a $50 new game or whatever and I'll definitely consider getting it from there.

(Actually they've got some pretty new games though-I mean there's a ton of stuff from the 2000s, and I swear I saw something just two years old.)

3-6 and the others not in this package should be fun for all, but they are very casual RPG's. I enjoyed them.

I enjoyed 1+2 even more but these are more hardcore and you may want to buy some graph paper...truely dated graphically...

Is there much fetch-questing from lazy villagers who can't pick up their own damn milk/magical orbs? ;)
