Miles Edgeworth - Acceptable 1st Phoenix Game?

Hi Guys,

My aunt loves the DS. I have a spare copy of Miles Edgeworth that I'm thinking about giving her. I haven't played the game yet and I probably won't until I play Apollo but I have 2 questions:

1. Do you NEED to know anything about PW before you play this? I'm guessing it would be more enjoyable with knowledge of the previous games but is it absolutely necessary?

2. Should this be a first game for someone not familiar with the PW series?
I don't want to give her a game that possibly makes her judge the whole series negatively. I'd rather her play the first game and then decide but that isn't going to happen.

I'm with Dead of Knight. While you can entirely play Miles Edgeworth without knowledge of the Phoenix Wright universe, I really think newcomers to the franchise would not be as endeared to Edgeworth and therefore think the series is rather poor, if basing impressions only on his stand-alone game. Miles' game is no where near as good as the first three Phoenix Wright games.
