so if level out a terrain, eventually the dirt will turn to grass?

wow. the 360 version has passed 2 million sales. can it possibly pass the PC version?

we know that console games sell better than PC games (most likely due to demographics and piracy). just never pictured the 360 version coming this fast versus the PC version.

Well, I can tell you that despite owning the PC version, I much prefer to play on the 360. In fact, I've never actually played the PC one as I got it for my son. Even he just plays the 360 one now. It is just the convenience factor and being able to chat/use friends list. I know you can play with other people on the PC and there's probably a way to chat, but it just doesn't have the same appeal as sitting on the couch and playing on the TV.

By the way, in the little messages that show on the title screen it said "Over 500 sold!" last night. That actually made me laugh.

My new downstairs house addition (with lapis floor, diamond ceiling, and gold hearth ;)):

I had put some netherrack in that hearth and set it on fire but that ended up burning all the wood floor in my upstairs room even though there was some air and a layer of diamond separating them. So that was kind of disappointing. Now I just have glow rock in there.

I'm getting more into minecart riding. I need to make tracks down to my mine, but it seems like I'd need a ton of gold (for powered tracks) to make it back up. It might be time I start duping. Just gold so that I can keep the mining fun and purposeful.

Just dup a bunch of track so you don't have to worry about that part of it. Make both regular and gold track and stash it in a chest - then you can use it later as needed.

I finally completed my around-the-world mine cart ride. It is pretty extensive (as it doesn't just circle the map but makes a lot of twists and turns to visit interesting areas). I wish you could upload videos too! then I just went and messed around with a few other things. 5 hours later I decided I better stop for the night ;).

You're right. Dupe tracks, not the materials. I'm thinking linearly here. Thanks for saving me some time. I might have a world wide track by tonight.

Last night while playing, i went to main menu and the little message said.... "SEECRET UPDATE FRIDAY" weird spelling on secret, but thats what it said. Wonder if we get a patch friday or not. et your duping done now!

I've seen that message occasionally for the past few weeks so I don't necessarily think it means anything will happen this Friday.

Why not make two worlds? One dupe-exploited, the other honest.
Dupe with furnace I duped with dispenser, same thing though?
Yeah, I was wondering if that was a typo. But perhaps it works the same way and I'm sure the fix would apply to both as it is really a counting/byte overflow error.

No patch was uploaded Friday? Get all you Duping done now, when u can. Also we spawned an amazing world using the word "Bambi" very cool seed.

made a moat of lava around a new house I'm building and used multiple trap doors, some redstone and a lever to make a drawbridge to cross the moat, it's pretty neat

Pics!

I stopped playing this while I was trying to play all of the Assassins Creed games with Ezio. Now that I'm done, I'll probably be back on. If anybody wants to play, hit me up.

an open and close shot, the house is a work in progress, framing it up with stone and then doing final build with obsidian

I want to do something that looks better over the drawbridge but glass was the best I did for now

Sweet, I can start playing this game again. I had sort of set is aside since I built a sweet new house, but couldn't sleep in it because enemies kept spawning.

Wow, last night's session couldn't have come at a better time. I had reached the bottom of a massive series of caverns I had been mining for the longest time; found my first redstone and diamonds. I spent the rest of the night exploiting the duping glitch. I duped everything. I have chests and chests of items. Only thing I am missing is diamonds, guess I know what I am doing tonight.

I was on the fence about duping, but it's totally worth it. Sad to see it go - if they're bringing Creative Mode, there really isn't much reason for duping anyway. Just have to wait for the CM update after the update - or not run the update and just play offline until I have enough diamond blocks to pave everything in them.

Hmmm - I haven't been playing recently in favor of Xenoblade Chronicles, but I guess I'll have to start again tonight. The only thing I really had left to dup was TNT and I'll need to fight some Creepers first to get enough gunpowder to make that.

I really wanted to build some more stuff out of gold/obsidian/diamond/lapis, but that will be pretty hard even with the stuff I have stored away. Oh yeah, I should dup some sandstone too - just to have some nice basic building blocks.
Can always remove patch and play offline to dupe then patch when u have what u want.
Can you do that? See, I've never refused a patch (or system update) before as I've never had any reason to. And thus I've certainly never removed one either ;). Wouldn't there be things introduced in the new patch, though, that would make the save incompatible with the pre-patch version? Like aren't pistons in this new patch?

I think it makes most sense to delay the patch to do what you want, then just finally accept it and move on without any more duping.

OK, I just looked at the list on the previous page. I guess this isn't so much an update to a newer version of the PC game but a fix to what is there. So I guess maybe there won't be the problem of incompatible saves (since it seems nothing new is being added yet). When they go to the next version (which is what I thought updates would be for this game) they will be adding new crafting items, etc.

No pistons this is mostly fixes, not an update to bring us closer to pc version.

Yeah, to kill the patch, I think you just reformat the system cache. Or if the update is downloaded like for some games (COD BlOps for example), you can just delete that.

I was playing late tonight and got disconnected from Xbox Live not too long ago - I'm assuming the patch is now active but since I was in the game it just booted me from XBL. As soon as I quit playing I got logged back in to XBL.

I finally got some TNT and then I went down to the bottom corner of my world (where I had already dug a tunnel) and started blasting away. My plan is to make a cavern that goes all the way around the world at the bottom, using mostly TNT. Of course it didn't take long before tons of lava got in the way, so I'll have to snake it around that. But it is pretty fun and a nice diversion from duping and building.

Earlier I built a Space Needle-like thing. I'll have to take pictures later (I guess once I download the patch). I like having unlimited TNT for this tunnel, though, so I'll probably hold off on that for a while. I am also using blocks of iron to even out the floor (since the bedrock is uneven so there ends up being holes in it after using the TNT). And I'm slapping paintings up all along the tunnel as I go ;).

The first time I went down to use TNT I put a couple down and one of them got blasted right back down the tunnel and landed right next to me - killed me of course. And stupidly I hadn't saved in like an hour and a half #-o. So I had to remake my TNT (half way across the map from my tunnel), and once again dup that along with several other things I had filled up some chests with. Man, that was frustrating. I didn't know the TNT would jump like that but I guess one went off and blasted the other away and I just happened to be standing directly in the path (I was well clear of the initial blast though).

maybe the reason I haven't found clay is because of that clay generation bug.

but to see clay, after the fix, I'd have to regenerate a new world, right? I've done so much in my world, it'd be sad to start all over...

that is what I want to know, I really hope I wouldn't have to start a new world

and looking at 4J Studio twitter saw someone ask about clay and this was their answer
"Yes, we can't touch the world you've already generated"

you WILL have to start a new world to find clay

I guess I am missing what is so great about clay... I haven't found one thing I couldn't make because I was missing clay.

Edit: Nevermind, just saw it's used for Brick. That would've been nice to have to dup. Eh, I don't need brick anyway.

1) Create new world with patch.
2) Find clay.
3) Make brick.
4) Save game.
5) Delete patch/clear cache from 360 hard drive.
6) Boot Minecraft, don't patch it.
7) Duplicate.
8) Next time on, you can patch it.

That should work if its like any other game for 360.

Thanks, but like I said it's not that big of a deal.
Brick would totally clash with my diamond block castle towers.

Yeah, clay is very very rare but can be found. One thing I wanted to do was try to find some before I patch so I can dup it (in my already created world - no way am I going to make a new one unless it is a pure "survival" mode game or something).

I just wish there was a way to know if your world has any clay in it at all. I know seed 888 has some. Because of the bug (pre-patch) it is only generated along the upper left to lower right diagonal - and then only where the conditions are right.

Has anybody actually tried loading their world after refusing to download the patch? I wanted to finish up some projects I was working on with the materials I had duped, but my world won't load. When I press A on "load", the screen just blinks and stays on that menu. I wondered if this would be a problem since the game is basically "always online", but I didn't think it could prevent you from playing if you had no internet connection. Unless I'm doing something wrong, it would appear that the duping days are 100% over.

Mine loaded fine offline with no patch. I found a bit of clay shortly after making a new world, I used 10 when I made my world If you want to see it.

Weird...I wonder why mine wouldn't load then. I can't imagine it would have anything to do with it, but I had been storing my save on the Cloud, but I had to move it to my hard drive since playing without the patch forces you offline. The game showed my world in the menu, but every time I pressed "A", it would just flash and stay on that screen. I eventually just gave in, downloaded the patch, and everything loaded fine (surprisingly, the items in my active inventory that were 255 glitched still showed up as 255...but they didn't replenish). I'm definitely going to be eagerly awaiting Creative Mode now.

Could someone with the "On a Rail" achievement help me get it? I'm beginning to think it's going to take forever for me to build a proper track to get it x.x

Edit: Nevermind, figured out how to dupe! :D

Yeah, it was a lot of trouble for me to get back to pre-patch. Let me explain... We have 2 360's in the house and I use one while my 12 year-old son uses the other. I bought Minecraft on his (but with my account) so he could play it without me having to be online. But that means the copy I play is a secondary one that requires me to be online to use. So basically I can't play without accepting the patch on that system because when it kicks me off XBL when I refuse the patch, then the game is just a Demo since it can't verify my ID.

So, OK, I have to play upstairs on my son's 360. That isn't too much a of a problem since I can play after he goes to sleep. But the problem is that he accepted the patch the other day. It took me a long time to figure out how to remove the patch and get the game to work properly. You do it by clearing the system cache (Press 'Y' I think on the storage screen) which I believe someone mentioned earlier. But it wasn't that simple. When I did that the game reverted back to being Demo mode again, even on the machine I purchased it on! My last ditch effort was to redownload it and lo and behold, that worked. So I was able to play last night with the patch removed.

Of course my son has since reapplied the patch yet again since then so I'll have to remove it again to play. I was a bit worried that his Halo Reach progress would be wiped out by clearing the cache since it is one of those games where stuff is saved in a hidden system file. But that was OK. He was also able to reload a world he had played with the patch when the patch was removed and do more duping (and then load it yet again with the patch reinstalled). So we've confirmed that you can go back and forth with the saves. This will probably no longer work once they actually do the first real PC catch-up update (that adds pistons, for example).

Thanks for verifying the back and forth, io. I'm the Cache eraser suggester and I'm glad it worked for you. Sorry to hear about the struggle though. I haven't found the need to go into a crazy dupe fest in my new world yet, but maybe in the future, before the next update.

I started doing pixel art. My girlfriend wanted bunnies in the game, so I made 3 rabbit pixel art statue things. It was pretty fun but really frustrating. I did them upright but maybe next time I'll do them flat.

Just a warning that clearing the system cache supposedly gets rid of all patches for all games that you have downloaded. This is probably a good thing to do every so often just to clear out extra space (patches and updates for games that you aren't playing any more). But, yeah, you will have to re-patch/update other games as well.
